  1. I am having similar issues with world models such as the building for the riverwood trader not loading/being invisible, and then my game freezing or crashing shortly afterward, and often when I enter combat. It maybe helpful to post what settings are in the ini and what mods are installed to see if there is a common thread between our mod loadouts. Here is my mod list from bash, it won't include basic texture mods though such as Bellyache's Animals: I have updated my ini within recommended guildlines but Ugrids is at the default of 5. Skyrim version 1.6 with SKSE 1.5.8 System Specs: Windows 7 64bit Intel i5 2500k O.C to 4.5Ghz 16GB DDR3 1600mz RAM Skyrim Installed to 2TB hard drive OS Installed to 128 GB SSD Radeon HD 7850 2GB DDR5 RAM
  2. I saw a video a while back where someone had it happen. It most likely is a mod issue. Thanks. Guess it's time to revert back. Shame cos it fixed my skyrim crashing when I would return to the main menu, but I always suspected that to be an SKSE issue anyways.
  3. I just tried it...and my character just stands on the horse very awkwardly playing no animations. Possibly a skeleton issue as I do have a mod that replaces the player skeleton.
  4. You need to search for "armed to the teeth". Can't link because I'm typing from iPhone but hope that helps.
  5. Yeah, I rarely use them but have after installing and updating some mods, wanted to apply some of those changes to my old characters. For now, it works in some fashion so I will leave it there and hope some future updates in SKSE and skyrim itself magically sort out the bugs I am having as it has happened before. Thanks for the response.
  6. Ok weird thing has happened. Installing Bella's Beautiful Females mod again has the showracemenu working. It was installed when creating my old characters, but not when making my new ones. Does this make any sense? EDIT: Gets even weirder now as basically returning the game to how it was before I even made this post and the showracemenu works still. But crashes now happen if I try to change race, or bring up the game menu. And of course game still CTD's if I try to return to main menu.
  7. Changed the load order. No change in problems. Wrye Bash version is 296 and Boss version is 2.0 or at least the version that has changed it's methods of managing load order, and only the 296 version of Wrye Bash can pickup and understand. The problems persisted before I got wrye Bash 295.5, and changing it to 296 didn't help with this problem. Console commands like fov worked fine with my character. Incidentally, now that I messed around with the customisation mods in uninstalling and reinstalling them, my character seems to have totally black eyes, and a different warpaint so I REALLY want to access showracemenu now lol rather than just for vanity reasons before. Ah, I forgot to mention that this is the second new character I made recently, as I had the same problems with another new character that I made beforehand.
  8. Having returned to skyrim after the recent patches and updating all of my mods, I have a few issues that weren't present a few months ago. I noticed that when I returned to the main menu, my game would crash. 1/20 this would not happen but decided to ignore as I could not figure out what had changed apart from SKSE update and the various patches along with updates to mods that worked fine with each other before. I read the readme's and forums of the ones that would likely conflict with each other such as Deadly Dragons and the Dragonbone crafting pack and sorted out the problems with those, but nothing pointed me to a fix for not crashing on the main menu, apart from having next to no mods installed. Deciding on a fresh start, I decided to install some new mods, get rid of some buggy ones and start a new character. Playing is fine, game never ctds, frame rate is around the 40s, but whenever I use the console command, 'Showracemenu', my game freezes. The sounds play in the background, but no amount of waiting or controller input gives any response. There were points where this would not happen, but now it just happens all the time. I do have a lot of hair and face mods installed, but uninstalling them did not help the problem. Even running the game with none of the customisation mods made a difference so I am totally stumped. I use Boss, NMM and Wrye Bash with bashed patch to manage my mods and their load order. System Specs: Core i5 2500k 3.4 ghz OC to 4.7 Ghz 120GB SSD 2TB HDD <- game installed here 500 GB HDD 16GB 1600 mhz DDR3 ram 2x Radeon HD 5770 in Crossfire 1.5GB GDDR5 RAM - soon to be exchanged for 1 Radeon HD 7850 Load Order below:
  9. I understand what you mean about the ridges and wrinkles but I think I initially spent an hour or more making the character as pretty as possible even with those disabilities lol. Some texture replacer mods remained fine and still active like the Triss armour replacer for Dark Brotherhood armour. Was hard to tell but it probably got a slight boost in detail. Thalmor Replacer is still active but Mystic Elven isnt. That one is a real blow. Female Muscle mod is destroyed but Oily skin remains active. Bit confusing really.
  10. Wouldn't it rather attract people to mods? I imagine there will be some stuff that isn't hosted, and with a little comment on one of the workshop mods saying there is a better alternative on the Skyrim Nexus, hey presto! you have free advertising and from the best methond, Word of Mouth.
  11. Thats a really informative post. Helps you decide what to keep. Think I will just take a break from skyrim and wait for the mods to be updated as that should make their file date change so that they override the bsa files.
  12. You access the workshop through the Community tab, and then workshop option on the right hand panel. If you mean the Construction Kit, you can download that via the Tools option in your games Library.
  13. I wear glasses, heck I even need new ones, but I really feel that some of the more negative posters need them more than I do. Took me half an hour to download when I eventually figured it out. But once installed game loaded even faster than it used to. Almost everything if not all, has been changed, even the graphics for spells when you view them in the magic menu. They have lost that blocky unpolished look and are a lot smoother, vanilla armour has much more detail to it, skin is better, dark elves dont look TOO ugly now. Though I do miss the modded look. Things just look a lot clearer. Would take pics but I use steam to take them and this computer is too poo to take videos. Another thing I noticed is that even the armour that has been added via mods to be crafted looks better, but I am guessing that's because the assets they use have received the HD treatment too. One thing that is a bit surprising is how it sorta invalidates all the work modders have done to improve or edit textures. On one hand, you think it's an impressive improvement, then you think, but wait, this really should have been here in the first place and saved a lot of people wasting their time. I think CD Projekt went the right way about it with The Witcher 2 by focussing on the pc first, getting a product that fits the model out first, then working on downscaling it for the 360.
  14. I would just like to say, I was using the beta patches and my game was fine. BUT, after updating to the latest beta, I had to update SKSE with it's own beta patch. After that, skyrim was unplayable. I hour max before I would CTD. Sometimes it was five mins, sometimes it was exiting through a certain door. BUT (again) after updating to the latest SKSE, which isn't a beta, my game has worked perfectly. Just played for about 5 hours straight, messing around with lots of loot chests, dressing mannequins, and completing the game with no CTDs. I even have the new version of script dragon, loads of mods, about 80% up-to-date, and thus have little to no problems. ERGO, I would highly suggest that people check their mods are updated (texture replacers for armour should be fine imo whatever the version, it's the big stuff like Deadly Dragons and such that need to be checked), and make sure they have the latest version of SKSE as I am pretty sure that was the cause of most of my CTDs.
  15. It's still snowing here in London UK. Definitely not going outside this weekend.
  16. My warrior didnt dual wield dragons for that reason. Instead i used 2 handers when up close and sword + board for closing distance and maybe stun/bash locking to avoid dragon breath. Dual wield + elemetal fury is for everything else.
  17. I have a friend who walks around in shorts and t-shirt even in this (UK) weather but it's so cold even he has a slight cough this year.
  18. With the Conditioning perk, it doesn't matter because the heavy armor weighs nothing! It's true I can get detected quite easy early in the game but I'm thinking about power level Heavy Armor. It is pretty easy to do anyway. I really doubt light armor can reach the same max armor rating because heavy armor already has a higher base armor rating. If you compare both with all identical perks, heavy armor wins. I hate it when I die because I jump off a cliff. With Cushioned, I only take half damage which I find appealing. Sorry i forgot, thats with smithing that light armour can reach the same values. Heavy armour gets there much more easily without. But if you are sneaking, most of your attacks I presume will come from backstabs. You aren't using blocking which is useful for maximising defence with heavy armour, and you are taking smithing so you are going to be upgrading armour, or at least, should have the ability to do so. Also, the last skill on light armour is more useful - avoiding 1/10 attacks versus reflecting 10% damage which i presume to be physical. EDIT: Just realised the smithing is debateable as you are going for daedric, presumably to make the strongest weapons.
  19. Sadly no it doesn't  See if you can get Valdr's Lucky Dagger, that gives you an extra 25% chance to land a critical IIRC.
  20. The pickpocket perk, extra pockets is very nice to have and would help you carry more as the heavy armour is much heavier than light armour. Also, wearing heavy armour, I can see you getting detected quite easily and fights becoming drawn out rather than the usual 1 shot backstab you usually get with sneaking. Plus light armour can reach the same max armour rating as heavy armour in end game.
  21. Shadowmere. Tanks dragons like a boss, doesnt bother my stealthing in dungeons, and requires no upkeep whatsoever. Also makes traversing skyrim and its many mountains a joy.
  22. Contrary to others, I like the up close and personal melee style of sneaking and assasinating. There is almost no feeling like stalking your prey, keeping to the shadows, and waiting for the perfect moment to pounce. Of course I use archery too, it's only natural and makes daylight assassinating so much easier, but daggers are where it is at. As for straight up combat, daggers have a use, mainly because they attack fast, but there are some really interesting unique daggers. The big one is obviously Mehrune's Razor which has albeit, small chance to 1 hit KO anything in the game and I mean anything, regardless of health. Don't use this when experimenting with shadowmere's health and regen rate  The second one is surprisingly a weapon that you can get very early in the game called Valdr's Lucky Dagger. If I recall correctly, this weapon gives you an extra 25% chance to land a critical strike, and critical's hurt in this game. Now if you factor in the speed of using a dagger, you can imagine that these effects can land pretty often which they do. Also, because they have no charge, you can't disenchant them, but soul gems are not needed for them AND they work with the elemental fury shout which makes absolute mincemeat of the toughest of foes. It's so effective, I had to limit my use of this combination to give myself a challenge again, even though I am playing on expert difficulty (hardcore scares me). If that isnt enough, using the shout Marked for Death, will mop up anything that proves to be stubborn. Mix in a paralyse dagger and things just become unfair. Remember, you can wield two at once! As for sneaking, it's one of the easiest skills to level that you really don't need to even 'cheat' at it. Sneak attacks raise it like crazy, especially when you use either the guaurdian stones that raise theif or combat abilities. I think the thief one works better here. By the time my sneak hit 100, the highest other skill was in the 50's. One last thing I will say, don't feel the need to put all 5 points into the first sneak perk. I survive on just having one in there. It means I have to find a hinding place when I attack, but it put's me on edge a bit when attempting to remain hidden nad provides a new element. Even if i do get seen, the last perk on the tree means I always have another option, even if it is sometimes overpowered. AH! this was meant to be short, not a wall of text :pinch:
  23. I tried the patch and it fixed one of my major issues...bookshelves not working at all after patch 1.3. Now its all good (though the books I had disappeared so I have to go text hunting again!). Most of the quest bugs I had, of which there were only a few, I had already found a way around them so I can say how well it works in this regard, but as others have said, performance is even better than what I experienced with TESVAL and Skyboost but to even get the game to run, I had to delete Skyboost files (for skyboost to work you have to get rid of TESVAL files so those are already gone) as it would report an error and not let the game start. Also, loading from a fresh save improves performance as well by removing most if not all the stutter when entering new cells and the distant landscape LOD seems to update better than before as well. All in all, a very good patch but it's early days and I did experience minor bugs with the other patches shortly after updating so time will tell.
  24. You think Bethesda would ever step in with suggestions to improve a mod? Would be cool if they gave a mod suggestion with a cash prize for the best version...but then again you would probably end up with copycat mods that get lost due the winner getting all the downloads and endorsements.
  25. Ah yes but the question was which mods do you think Beth' favours. I know what I like, but have no idea what a creator would like. I imagine, its the more technically complex or accomplished mods that they would be interested in so hearing Midas Magic is little surprise, though I personally don't do much magic with my characters so I haven't enjoyed that mod to it's full potential.
