1. a lot of the modders do include a readme in their mod archives, but it sometimes happens that NMM has to overwrite a readme file in the \Data folder because the file is simply called "readme". it could be good practice to rename the readme-files to "[name of mod]readme.txt" or "[name of mod]readme.doc", to avoid confusion. just my 2cts.
2. it seems that the soul cairn is dawnguard's dark gem like blackreach was in the vanilla skyrim. a thoroughly enjoyable place to wander around :D
3. i just finished the soul cairn quest but i get a CTD every time i want to go back to tamriel.-edit- oh, and i seem to have lost serena under way -/edit-
4. Indeed, but it's an abandoned work in progress, the finished mod appears to be in Russian.
5. But D.C. (much more important target) survived what was called the most intense of the bombings so it would make sense that New York would have been in about the same shape as D.C. I see your point. if you look at the devastation in Hiroshima (where most houses were made of wood) you'll notice that most of the stone buildings are still standing. http://www.britannica.com/blogs/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/76528-hiroshima-devastation.jpg So the task at hand (recreating New York) remains enormous. I wanted to keep Liberty Island relatively intact as a starting point for a NY mod, because it is a very limited, though visually appealing area, with a good setting for several quests, with the broken NY skyline in the background, hopefully enticing modders to take on the city itself :D there's a free 3DS mesh of Lady Liberty here. may save a modder some work :)
6. In Fallout lore New York would probably be a major target and a big radioactive crater after thenuclear attack ... liberty island may have survived, could be a starting point ;)
7. I agree it's food for thought, and a great idea for a mod
8. There's a Snake Plissken outfit by LDX9 for FO3, shouldn't be too hard to implement it in FONV and in a NY mod. Recreating New York however....that's a massive task at hand
9. Being a journalist and a musician with no military/hunting training whatsoever in RL , I'd probably be a bard in Skyrim
10. back in the 80s it was pac man, galaga and space invaders all the way for me, on a commodore64 with casette tapes ;D pc wise it started much later (around 2000) with unreal tournament, KOTOR and COD
11. WOT announced a new source for mods. May be worthwile to check it out :D
12. just to be clear. if a mod works on my (legal) copy of the game, can i upload it on the nexus for testing purposes? clearly mentioning that it is for testing compatibility to everyone else's copy of the game?
13. Hi, I'm not sure if it's appropriate here. But since most modders used skyedit and other tools to make their mods, and considering the CK EULA doesn't go well with some people, wouldn't it be necessary to mention which tools a modder used to make his mod in the files description? Just a thought.
14. welcome to the forum :D have fun!
15. may happen for pc. for xbox? dunno. why don't you buy a pc? and find out. -edit : sorry, that was unaccounted for. short answer is, not until xbox opens up to modding,
16. thx for the heads up lord inquisitor forgot to mention i used smithing to upgrade me kilt and weapons. for the hanky on my head, it was a no go. i die a lot, mind, but i learn. that's one way to play skyrim ;)
17.

It will, I have been told outright by Matt Grandstaff that mods will not have to be uploaded to Steam Workshop and that upload is not automatic. If you look at the video on Bethblog, when you save your file, there is an option to just save to your Data folder as usual, OR to package and upload to Steam Workshop if you wish.

that's great!let's hope people get to mark the opt-out button of steam workshop first instead of just clicking 'agree' and 'ok' blindly. lets first see how the ck blends into the NMM, and see if that works all right.I'm sure you will be able to opt-in to steam workshop at a later time...if you wish.
18. i m just a skinny man with a kilt and a hanky on his head in skyrim. no followers.
don't use magic. mostly 2h weapons. i seem to manage just fine.
-edit: i'm good with bows
19. This may be the reason modders should try to either use (l)GPL'ed/creative commons content in their mods? I admit it's fun to see a mod that uses copyrighted material, but it causes a lot of hassle because of the copyrighted material. I wouldn't touch it with a stick. Back on topic: getting along with steam is Bethesda's decision, not ours. While a lot ofplayers seem to disagree with that, this fact remains and will (probably) not change. So live with it. The CK is on it's way, let's just see if we can use it without being tied to the steam workshop, and let the Nexus, or it's modders and users, not be caught in the copyright entanglement.
20. So, just opt-out on Steam Workshop on download tomorrow, and see what you can do with the CK Hopefully the CK EULA will permit us to use the CK on the Nexus without the Workshop.
21. let's just wait for the CK to arrive, and put it to some serious scrutiny before jumping to assumptions or conclusions.
22. the dwemer armor and helmet may give some clues to model the dwemer? bearded and rather stout :D
23. it could be the other way around. getting in touch with the dwemer (finding a map, encountering dwemer ghosts in a ruin?), and having to restore them to power to help fight off the thalmor rising. as the dwemer lived underground, it would not involve expanding the skyrim area, only adding an undiscovered entry in a cave or dungeon, and you're good to go. would be cool
24. In an ideal world, all firearms should only be able to shoot peas. Unfortunately, this is not an ideal world. We would have peace if it was.
