  1. I just did a complete reinstall of Windows 10 and completed reinstalling and modding my Fallout 4. When I started a new game, everything was fine until I got to the new character creation section. The male SS says 'war never changes' and the female SS starts to say something but seems to be 'skipped' in that her dialogue stops abruptly. After that, I have the two of them standing them, but no appearance menus. My only option at this point is to leave the game. I have never experienced this and am hoping someone might have encountered this before. I am planning on doing the mod shuffle to see if I can find a single culprit, but I'm worried this might end up being a incompatibility between two mods. Anyways, here's my load list. I'm hoping someone has seen this before.
  2. I have an update. I backed up relevant data and then deleted my My Game/Fallout4 folder and uninstalled the game. I reinstalled and then downloaded and installed the latest F4SE. Currently, my game is working. While I'm still not entirely sure its a mod, I'm going to post updates as I gradually restore missing data until I can say for sure what was causing the issue. Update 1: Restored my old saves, loading normally, but slowly. Going to remove the bulk of my old saves. Update 2: removed all but last 2 weeks of saves (57); loading far better. Update 3: restored contents of data folder (materials, meshes, scripts, sound, textures, tools, and ESPs/etc) but did not enabled a single mod; Fallout crashed like before. Update 4: Eureka! renamed Scripts folder and now loads normally again. Still no mods enabled. So, this strongly suggests that one of the scripts being placed in my Data folder is causing this issue. I have a lot of scripts to plow through and it's late, but I'll update once I have more information; perhaps it might help someone else. Update 5: While I've not enabled any mods yet, I have found 4 files in my script folder that instantly cause CTD after the Bethesda logo: Actor.pex Actorbase.pex F4SE.pex Headpart.pex Clearly, I know what F4SE.pex references, but I'm not sure where it came from. I've been loading games using F4SE for hours now in testing and the active Scripts folder hasn't had one generated into it yet, so it's not F4SE itself, it would appear. As for the other 3.. I'll research that tomorrow... Update 6: Reference Update 7: Enabled and sorted all of my mods as test, loaded game. I got as far as loading my latest save, but Fo4 CTD on game load. Time to start sequential loading of mods.
  3. Disable Minutemenoverhaul.esp and see if your game loads. I disabled -as well as uninstalled- Minutemanoverhaul.esp and my game would still not load using F4SE and the Fallout4Custom.ini edit. I went ahead and tested some more variations and here is what I found: 1. Loading without F4SE or Minutemanoverhaul.esp but with Fallout4Custom.ini edits: game/save loads normally, all meshes/textures working. 2. Loading without F4SE but with Minutemanoverhaul.esp enabled and with Fallout4Custom.ini edits: game/save loads normally, all meshes/textures working. 3. Loading with F4SE with Fallout4Custom.ini edits and all mods enabled: Crashes on/after Bethesda logo 4. Loading with F4SE with Fallout4Custom.ini edits and only Minutemanoverhaul.esp disabled: Crashes on/after Bethesda logo 5. Loading with F4SE and all mods enabled but without Fallout4Custom.ini edits: game/save loads, but some mods do not load fully (missing textures/meshes) 6. Loading with F4SE and Fallout4Custom.ini edits but with all mods disabled: Crashes on/after Bethesda logo 7. Loading with F4SE and Fallout4Custom.ini edits but with all mods/DLC disabled: Crashes on/after Bethesda logo So, this seems like one of two issues: (1) Balsac and I are experiencing a rare incompatibility between the Fallout4Custom.ini edits and F4SE or (2) Both of use are experiencing an issue where a mod -even disabled- has 'hard-baked' some change into the game that even disabling does not neutralize and which is causing the aforementioned F4SE and ini edit incompatibility. The problem with issue two seems to be that I have a number of mods that might cause this, Balsac indicates he has no installed mods, just a fresh copy of the game and F4SE. Also, I ran my entire mod list enabled through FO4Edit and received no errors. Perhaps there's something system-wise that might be causing this?
  4. So, since the update I have been encountering an issue when if I enable mods in either the Fallout4custom.ini or Fallout4.ini (see Shalrkilran's comment) FO4 will crash immediately after the Bethesda logo if I load using F4SE with the Fallout4Custom.ini edits. If I load regularly, the game save selection loads, but crashes on any save game load. if I remove the edits to the ini's, my game save selection and any saves will load, but a number of my mods do not seem to load their content. The menus show the options, but no meshes/textures display and deployed items are gone form the game. Noted mods affected are Armorsmith Extended, Crafting Workbenches, Legendary Modification (in particular L2M), DD Productions All-in-One Crafting Stuff, Homemaker, and SOE. It seems anything that modified, re-meshes, or re-textures a vanilla asset is simply not loading. List of things I've tried (not in this order) 1. I've renamed all ini's in my My Game\Fallout 4 dir and allowed the game to recreate them, unedited 2. Testing both of the enabling methods Sharlikran mentioned in the linked forum post 3. Displaced all files in my game dir EXCEPT data and verified game files on Steam. 4. Re-installed F4SE 5. Disabled all mods and loaded game successfully (but remember it loads 'successfully' with them enabled too) 6. Deleted my \INTERFACE\ dir in \Data\ 7. Verified I am not using any user interface mods except Better Item Sorting* and Full Dialogue Interface. 8. Reinstalled every mod that I suspect modifies a vanilla mesh/texture [*NOTE: Researching shows me that Better Item sorting has not been updated since 12/7. I disabled it and it did not resolve my issues. Still, perhaps I should abandon it on general principles?] At this point, I'm in something of a dead spot. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions to make? Here's my mod list for informational purposes Thanks for all help you might render.
  5. I completely removed F4SE's files and reinstalled them. It did not resolve my issue, unfortunately.
  6. I'm having the same issue. I've disabled all mods except the official DLC and I can only get to the save game screen if I start the game using the normal loader. If I load with F4SE, it CTD's immediately after the Bethesda logo. Anyone have ideas? (Note: updated to f4se_0_02_00, so using the latest F4SE, unless it's updated again in last couple of hours.)
  7. In response to post #34086875. #34087460 is also a reply to the same post. ok, update! On a lark, I segregated my old ini files to another location and then ran the base launcher to regenerate them. I closed the launcher and then started via NMM and have gotten to the load screen. My game still crashes on load, so there's clearly a mod issue as well, but the various ini's were the initial cause. here's the old settings, if it helps anyone else: Fallout.ini Fallout4Custom.ini Fallout4Prefs.ini
  8. This is a new one. I've been getting CTD's immediately upon starting the game, right as the Bethesda logo is coming on screen. I cleaned my SetDressing folder of any loose flag files, to no avail. I completely disabled all mods in NMM, no change. I then removed all mods from the Data folder, no change. I've tried starting the game using Fallout4.exe, Falout4Launcher.exe, F4SE_loader.exe and form within Steam itself. No change. I am strongly suspecting this is an edit to my fallout4.ini, or fallout4custom.ini or Fallout4Prefs.ini. Or perhaps my ENB? I'm at a loss right now. Does anyone have any suggestions?
