Blog piece: Ads, Supporters, Endorsements and Bandwidth Throttling
CapnLilNemo replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
I think all of these moves are fair and well-reasoned. I might even go ahead and throw down the $1.60ish to support this site. Lord knows I use it enough. -
I have searched around for some answer as to why this might be happening both through Google and on this board specifically, but to no avail. So, I thought I would just throw it out there to see what people here make of it. In specific I am referring to the interior map for the Sunset Sarparilla Headquarters, about a quarter to a third of the elements are simply not showing up when I view it in GECK, but they are there when I go there in the game. I have used both the vanilla GECK as well as GECK with script extender scripts enabled and the problem persists with both. All the elements seem to appear in the list of elements and I can bring up information about them by double clicking wildly on the many blank spaces, they just seem to be invisible or something. I am truly baffled by this weirdness and was wondering if anyone had any clue what might be causing this and (more importantly) how to fix it.

That is a pretty bad argument. The US is often a trendsetter in this kind of insanity. If the US passes a law like this it is quite possible other countries will soon follow behind.

In short: No. I know my other topic was locked, but I just want to say my piece. If the mods still want to lock this thread too they can and I will drop it. It does not strike me as fair to ban a topic of discussion based on the facile argument that it will lead to an quasi-related topic of discussion, because the issue at hand goes well beyond religion. Last year 33% of newborn boys born in the United States were circumcised and that only counts circumcision paid for by health insurance, it does not count circumcisions paid for out of pocket and it definitely does not count circumcisions performed for religious reasons. There. I have said my piece, if the mods still want to lock this I will just drop it and walk away before I get myself banned or something.

I for one am against the mutilating the genitals of infants.

Child labor laws are well meaning, but overly stringent. Children should be allowed to work if they want to. It build character. I didn't have a job until I got out of High School and I am a lay-about with no ambition. We should try to put students in apprenticeships and teach them actual trades rather than feeding them the standard bulls*** of "Go to college and you will get a good job." The world just does not work like that.

It is incredibly wrong anyone who says that the only websites against SOPA are piracy websites. What about Wikipedia or Google? For me and a lot of other people it comes down to basic principles. The same reason I continue to oppose the DCMA to this very day despite the fact that that crappy bit of legislation is still on the books. The DCMA makes it illegal to circumvent DRMs in anyway for any reason. It is no one's damned business if I want to use a crack on my legal copy of Fallout: Tactics so I can play it on my netbook without lugging a portable DVD drive around. It should be said I have never found a crack of Fallout: Tactics that actually worked, but that is completely beside the point. Now we have SOPA, which is way worse that DCMA. SOPA grants the government powers to simply turn off websites with little to no provisions as to which websites they can and can not use this power against. Sure, the first websites gone will be Torrent websites and the like which are mostly used for piracy, but there are no direct barriers in the legislation to stop it from affecting so many other sites, and even if such barriers were put in place I cannot condone any legislation which gives the government any ability to simply block IPs. That is not how the internet should work, that is not how America should work. And really when it comes right down to it this will do little to nothing to stop pirates. They will just find a way around it, it probably won't even be that hard.

I can only speak for myself, but all I want is the rich to pay their fair share of taxes. I do also tend to have a problem with those who have simply earned positions of power through nepotism. That too tends to rub me the wrong way.

Google is still up, but has put a black bar over their logo.

Couldn't hurt. I for one totally support any website shutting down for the day with a link to an anti-SOPA site. If you could just shut it down for the US that would be all that is really needed, although Wiki is going down worldwide.

I am moderately bummed I only found out about this after it was already over. Are you still planning on doing another competition for 5 million member milestone?
