  1. Hello Ive recently returned to try my luck at modding fallout 4 and playing through the new DLC, it worked fine until I decided to go ahead and start the minutemen questline, as soon as I enter tenpines bluff the game CTDs instantly without warning. What kind of mods usually cause this? What should I be looking for? EDIT: it should be said that if I fail to find the issue im just gonna reinstall fresh and try again with barebones modding installed, in that case what would be considered the most essential bug fixing/nessecary gameplay mods for fallout 4? EDIT2(Solved) So I managed to solve the issue by following the same method i used for "quick troubleshooting" back in FNV times. while uninstalling some grass mods I was using. Quote from "BlindLookout" here Hey everybody, I was getting occasional crashes that became more and more frequent until there was just no way to play the game at all, barring reverting back to the original INIs... which meant, of course, no mods. Eventually, after a lot of pain and suffering (and re-downloads and re-installs) I worked out what was happening and how to fix it. Here's the step-by-step: Open NMM Click on each mod, one at a time, and click the icon on the left to "Disable" it. Go to Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data It should ONLY have TWO FOLDERS: Video and Strings... so delete anything else that might have been left over. This is what's been crashing your game. Launch Fallout 4 and load a few games just to make sure it isn't crashing. Quit Fallout 4. In NMM, reinstall just a few of your mods and then load your games, make sure they aren't crashing. Repeat the last step until you're back up and running. This is generally going to do it. Here are a few things others have suggested that you can also try if the above doesn't work: Run FOMM to sort the load order and get a sense of any known conflicts.Check your mods for compatibility patches.Load a previous game, make sure it's not just a corrupted save file.Sleep for a week in-game, let all the cells reset themselves. In Steam, right-click on Fallout 4, go to Properties, and tell it to Verify the Cache... it usually finds a file or two that was "corrupted" (NOTE: you'll have to re-do your settings and re-customize your INIs if you do this!)Uninstall / ReinstallLet me know if any of the above works for you, or if you have more ideas on Fallout 4 troubleshooting!
  2. Make sure you use the potion to refund all points used in mutations and start over on them. This worked for me. Furthermore, I noticed the slot only first unlocked once three of four slots were unlocked (I had the issue with the first slot being locked)
  3. @CrimsonKingXIII Thanks! Thats great! That means the mod authors can make a legal claim to their work much more easily! Neato! Now all that remains is having Beth take charge of the situation and take down mods that have claim by their authors (and havent been properly credited) May I suggest a petition sent to Bethesda? And naturally, its vital to keep it civil and knock off all that name calling and chat ranting that Ive seen both here , on youtube, and on beth. Solves nothing ;)
  4. Bethesda did that? Damn... regardless that is also the reason that I believe sending an actual email and starting a conversation with them through a more private medium (where not every upset writer can pull claims) and ask for the issue to be forwarded to the legal department or some other part of Bethesda. The reason why I am adamant on the issue being forwarded via email, or phone calls is that it not only seems a more professional approach from Bethesdas point of view, but that it also filters out outside toxic influences like what seemed to hit you, and also me just now as you can see on the post below: Damn kibaH your last part sound like one of those retards in the DD's video, did you actually mod something? As i can see, no you're just asking for free content and you don't care about the guys who does this content for you... nice you're oficially an idiot. Let's pretend a story, you're a writter who have admiration for... let's say Shakespeare, so your editor asks to you to write a preface of Romeo and Juliet to put it in the new edition of the book the company is doing, you do it because you love Shakespeare and you love to write. A week after the release of the book another company takes your text and uses it into another nobel without even asking you saying that you're not losing money because the book you're selling is not your own, you just made a preface... and then a bounch of reader assholes says that you cann't say it's yours because you don't own the English language... So yea that's what they're doing and that's what you're saying so if you're saying that i must say you're an idiot. Changing to this reply I have not made any mods since I lack that kind of talent and skill, I totally respect the people behind the content on the nexus but stand firmly on the belief that the content released by modders are released for the sake of the content, and not the modders that made it, ofcouse I will not claim to speak in the name of every modder out there, in which I apologise to the individual modders that feel their mods content should only deem to promote THEM as people. In terms of your example I cant help but be puzzled as to several points. You speak of a company, editor, writer and readers who copy your content (copycats). In this example you put the writer in the position of a employee , an official with an editor who do something: writing, for a living. This situation cant be related to these situations, modders dont mod, or SHOULD not mod, for money (For several reasons including infringement of fallout 4s EULA(not making money off of their product)) but to improve upon the game, get their creative muscles pumping and do what they LIKE to do (which is the only thing that can relate to your story honestly). I understand and fully support the frustration modders may have of their content being uploaded to another service, and claimed as others work/not being given credit. But to take such actions as campaigning against said service in such an agressive manner as "declaring war", ranting, making comment videos to showcase other peoples trolling behavior, hiding their mods from the ABSOLUTE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE who sincerely like it, calling other people idiots because they stay objective to the situation and dont jump on the wagon, but instead try to convince the masses of a more correct way of approaching things (as is done in the real world(trump is not an example, Im not sure he is a human being)) is NOT an answer, but is to take a much more unresolving ,and frankly SELFISH approach to the entire thing. You SHOULD make mods to share content that you have created with the fallout 4 community for the sake of the mods NOT to promote youself in those manners. And under no circumstances should you take to these toxic behaviors, caving in to your raging anger and behaving in such a spiteful and hateful manner. Go cool your head, calm down, and lets talk about these things. PS. Calling anyone in any case an idiot for sharing their point of view is not a solution. Ever. Nor does it make anything you say more right.
  5. Not to seem daft, as I totally think ripping off others work without credit is a dick move. But has anyone even tried to actually contact bethesda on the issue? Or are everyone just sitting around writing rants and posting hate videos? Just saying, because Bethesda, as a business dont sit and stroll through youtube for feedback. The only way to make a difference is to go to Bethesda, find a email adress to someone in the company, and write to them en-masse with a "Regards, -your name-" in the end. Best regards Your neighborhood bore Blackburn -EDIT- Oh and naturally stay civil, starting a "war" and being toxic wont promote any kind of positive outcome. If you are truly bothered by this, send Bethesda and actual email, contact them by whatever means and write along the lines of "Dear Bethesda Your community, that is to say the modders, have this and this issue this bothers me, and a lot of others as you can see -link link- here please do something about it or otherwise take some kind of official action towards this. Regards John Jackson (or whatever your names are) " -EDIT 2- And lastly, to clarify. The issue at hand is that users of the bethesda modding community are taking content made by people here on nexus, and distributing it on the bethesda site without consent of the mod authors, while it is a dick move there are no legal issues on this matter as your content isnt bound under any kind of copyright. And since they arent making profit off of your content it moves the entire thing into a grey zone legally. You dont lose capital from this, you do however see your work distributed by others on a different platform. Have you tried contacting said persons and asking them (nicely) to credit you for your work on your site? In the worst case just make sure to refuse support to people who are using your content via bethesdas site? TL:DR Quick solution: Nicely ask the people releasing your mods on bethesdas site to give you credit on your work Long solution: Write actual emails, call their support services, and make an effort to contact bethesda and make your case if you want results. Writing toxic rants and making music videos of comments wont get you what you want.
  6. Juuust a bumping to this concept idea! Still dreaming of gasping for air because I ran out of filters! (totally not masochist)
  7. Im following your progress with excitement, checking weekly if you have made new progress! I wish I had the talent to help out, but beyond visual and auditory things (drawing, animating, voicing) I simply dont have the brain capacity :P Best of luck to you, hope you crack the code soon ;)
  8. Hello! So I came into an issue that had me worried for awhile, I had just returned to my hideout with the loot I had scavanged from my dead raider opponents from concord, when suddenly I got a CTD. I initially thought it was due to my mod setup as a whole, but came to realise that the CTD only happened when I tried to view a very specific weapon in my inventory. Please refer to the picture below. NOTE: Its not the weapon selected ingame, but the one underline beautifully in paint by red. As I obviously couldnt move my mouse over the item in my inventory, since the preview would crash me. Now since the item in question holds some of the custom weapon mods from some of the mods from the nexus, I must believe that its caused by one of those. The mods I use that have an effect on pipe weapon mods are: Extended weapon mods Cut weapon mods More realistic handmade pipeweapons(DARKER) Pipe weapon overhaul Legendary modifications (links to their respective nexus pages!) For now I have managed to avert the issue by scrapping the weapon fast enough (spamming R(scrap) and enter(confirm)) for the weapon to be scrapped without loading the preview, and thereby causing CTD. But for future reference I would like to know if anyone have had similar issues, where I should focus my debugging efforts, and which fixes you believe would be viable in this case in case I run into this again. And so I can inform the creator of said mod of the issue so that he may be able to fix it in the future(If it is not entirely my fault that is!) Thank you for your time :)
  9. Hello! Seeing as this is my first post, having originally been a silent user of the nexus modding community through downloads, I hope that you will pardon me should this idea have been put out there plenty of times already. So as the the topic at hand, having recently made a return after a break from fallout 4, and having just upgraded my rig (Yay 970GTX!) I have been occupying myself mainly by playing the metro redux games. During my time in broken down moscow an idea came to me, an addition to the wastes of fallout 4 that i think could be both cosmetically awesome, gamewise challenging and all out entertaining: Im talking: Gas masks, we have a few helmets and gas masks, including our trusty army of power armors that we have gathered from all around and parked somewhere. So why not add some functionality to it? To put it blundly, having somekind of restricting air in areas, or in general, around different parts of fallout 4, which would require the player to either wear a mask, helmet, or anything that can somewhat filter the air when inhaling. I would love to see this as a mod, especially now where the modding tools have been released :) Thank you for reading through my post, I hope to get some good talks out of this idea, and hopefully see it created and released in the future! Best regards
