  1. Yes, it is problematic if you get bounced from one doctor to the other. I just had a very interesting talk with the authorities today. They came to visit me and asked about my suicidal tendencies and whether I was in any short term danger? I told them that as long as my parents live, I won´t do anything to myself, but after they are gone the situation will be different and they were completely happy with that as there will be at least 10 to 20 years before they have to worry about me killing myself, but what happens at the end of those years? If my situation doesn´t change DRAMATICALLY, the risk of something unfortunate happening by my own volition will be near 100%, so there is definitely reason to be concerned. Unless there is a major shift in my personal thinking and philosophies, then an unfortunate ending may very well come to me and I don´t think there is ANYONE who could convince me to abandon all suicidal thoughts and "focus on the positive" and live happily ever after. The authorities acknowledged that happiness doesn´t come from pills, so there will not be a medication to stop me from doing myself in. If they could develop a drug that would inhibit all suicidal thoughts and actions, then they would probably force me to eat it, just to be sure, but there isn´t and besides, such a drug would be MIND CONTROL in the literal sense. Would we want such control?
  2. So, you get to spend all your cash on traveling and other fun stuff instead of having to pay for the support of a family. Being childless has its advantages and all the parents will envy your freedom, but pity you for not having anyone to carry on your life´s work. After all who will inherit you if you have no children? In Finland if there are no children or close relatives, the state takes the inheritance 100%, do you want the state to have all your possessions after you die?
  3. It´s not a brain blowing fact. I just consider universes to be 4 dimensional "bubbles" floating in a sea of SOMETHING, a suprauniversal void or as some scientist named it "bulk". 4 dimensional in a way that each universe has 3 spatial coordinates X,Y and Z and of couse the 4th dimension is time, so each universe has its own time and the space outside the universes has no time or is time a suprauniversal dimension which is present even outside the universe? After all there had to be something before the Big Bang, other universes and the like which existed before ours. But the theme of multiple universes has been explored in science-fiction by the way of alternate universes and alternate timelines. Is there a universe out there in which Germany won the WW-2 etc.?
  4. So, will you save the world by not having children or do you want to spread your genes and breed?
  5. Let´s not forget that our universe is not the only one out there. We live in a MULTIVERSE according to physicists and that increases the likelyhood of life appearing somewhere in the multiple universes.
  6. China is already implementing a one child policy and on the long term it will reduce their population, which is the goal of the Chinese government, but it has problems too, because the ratio of young people vs old is being tilted heavily towards the old and that puts a lot of strain on the society to support the elderly.
  7. I know Balagor, one of my childhood friends was in a relationship with a single mother, who bore him a son. They separated eventually, but he´s happy with his son and while they were together he probably took good care of the two daughters already in the family. I could never do that, so I guess my friend must be more of a man than I am, but never mind about that.

    Inheritance

It seems to be a Nordic tradition that inheritance by blood entitles the inheritor to an undeniable portion of the estate. An inheritor can always decline his/her right to inheritance and I don´t know what happens to the property in that case, possibly it goes to the next in line to inherit. So eventually when me and my sister inherit our parents, I can decline to have my entitled portion, in which case it might go to my sister, in which case she would inherit the parents 100% and since I don´t plan on having children and there is the distinct possibility that I will "exit" this world some time after my parents are gone, she will inherit the final 50% of my parents estate in any case, that should help her get over the loss of her immediate family including her only brother. Besides, my sister is planning on having kids so she will have a bloodline to pass her belongings on after she dies.
  9. I agree with Beriallord. I would NEVER get into a relationship with a single mother. I don´t want to become a provider for kids whom somebody else has seeded and if you get into a serious relationship with a woman who has kids, it WILL eventually come up that it would be nice if you contributed financially to the "family", calling you to commit YOUR money to support someone else´s kids and the rationale would have course be that the kids are innocent and they need support, so it would be selfish to reject the request. (Don´t you like kids or what is your problem?) No, if a man seeds a child, he must support it, it´s in the law, but it would be ILLOGICAL to support the kids of another man. Hence I skip over the ads of single mothers when I look at dating sites and the sad fact is that most single women of around 30 years of age already have children from previous relationships, so it kinda narrows down the candidate pool and those who don´t have children already are feeling their biological clock ticking and are probably seeking a provider for their future children, so that narrows me out, since I am incapable of supporting a family at present and UNWILLING to have children anyways, so as they say TOO BAD FOR ME!
  10. Of course they are the modellers are entitled to have their name on their work. In academic circles it is permitted to use the text of another writer, but you must ALWAYS give credit to the author, if you don´t you´re claiming it as your own and that´s PLAGIARISM the cardinal sin of academia and you WILL get sanctioned heavily for doing it, even as far as getting thrown out of your university and if you are a professor your academic reputation will be gone. So, what I´m advocating is that the modelers donate the work for FREE USE in other mods as long as they are given credit, WITHOUT having the need to always seek out the modeler and asking for permission, it should be automatic, everyone can download and use the work as long as they credit the author. If the modelers want money for their work, they should seek employment in games companies or sell their work on Turbosquid. Besides I´m surprised that no angry moderator has shown up to chide me for insulting lawyers, by now they must have seen the text so I guess they just don´t care what people say. If I wrote insults like that in an academic essay and I did once, it would probably be thrown in my face and rejected for being "disrespectful" or "inappropriate for academic language", but the most the teachers can do is fail your course and that´s nothing.
  11. Hello Raatorotta and welcome to the debates forum. What bothers me is the power invested in a single doctor, that´s all it takes to take away your civic liberties and incarcerate you in a mental asylum, not a panel of experts, but a single doctor can make that call and the doctor wasn´t even a psychiatrist, but some GP at the hospital.
  12. I have found out that looking for a partner is exceedingly difficult if you don´t want children like me. Most women it seems want to have children and of course they hope that the potential companion has the same ideas.

    Inheritance

Can they contest the will on grounds of insanity if the deceased had a mental health history? Oh yes, and who inherits the cat? The new owner?
  14. The lifetime premium membership was expensive, but hopefully it keeps the moderators off my back. Now I don´t have the money to hire a 3d modeler, I would have to be a millionaire to do that and while we wait for that to realize (don´t hold your breath), we must hope for voluntary contributions from the community and encourage 3d modelers to donate their work to the public domain, so we can use them.

    Inheritance

Ok, in the Finnish legal system it is IMPOSSIBLE to fully disinherit someone who is entitled to an inheritance. An heir is entitled "by blood" to a portion of the deceased persons estate and that cannot be changed with a will. Some parts of the estate can be governed with a will though. For example: An only child inherits his/her parents 100% if there is no will and is entitled to 50% of the estate "by blood" (I think), the remaining 50% can be governed with a will and hence can be disinherited at the deceased persons discretion. Now the questions are: * What kind of inheritance laws are there in your country? *Would you consider disinheriting someone? * Is disinheriting someone an evil act? Note that usually inheritors are the children of their parents and it would usually take a MAJOR rift in the personal relations between them to make a parent disinherit a child, but it might give parents a position to show favoritism to some of the children by reducing the amount others get. Personally I will be inheriting my parents at some distant point in the future along with my younger sister. First the estate passes on to the control of the widow of the parent who died first and when both are gone, the children inherit. Now, I will inherit my parents, but since I have no children and at present I don´t want any, my possessions will, in the case of my death, pass on back to my parents if they are alive and when they are gone, to my sister, who will be the sole inheritor of everything I have. By law I cannot disinherit my sister fully, but I can govern 50% of my possessions by will and do as I please with it. Now the interesting question is, should I use that power to deprive my sister of 50% of her potential inheritance and give it to someone I favor more or should I just let her have it all? Maybe the older people in the forums can weigh in on the matter with their opinions, since they are somewhat closer to the subject? (although death can come even to a young person, you never know)
  16. I know the amount of child births is dropping in the western world and that it threatens the very fabric of our society, but "civic duty" is not enough for me to consider having children. I think most men don´t really think about having children until their girlfriends or wives start clamoring for one and then they just go along, just as their fathers did before them and most become good average dads. My views on having children are a very small minority and it is the good fortune of our society that it is so, because if everyone stopped having children, then humanity would go extinct in very short order.
  17. Aonghus, I was dragged to see the duty doctor after my relatives called the paramedics when they found me in a psychotic condition and after the first time the mental health authorities have kept a constant watch over me, which irritates me a great deal. I don´t like being "watched", having to keep contact with the mental health authorities on a regular basis and if for some reason I fail to contact them, they will seek me out and evaluate my condition, that´s how I ended up being dragged to the duty doctor 2 more times, each time resulting in several months of involuntary hospitalization, which is even more irritating. As for what happened during the hospitalizations, I don´t remember everything, there are gaps in my memory ranging to several "missed" days in each hospitalization, but in general it was NOT a pleasant experience and I am NOT about to answer any questions on those periods. As my neurologist said, it is probably better not to talk about those times and I have not told a single soul about what happened during those times, not even my government paid psychotherapist who is supposed to be trusted with EVERYTHING. As for my suicidal tendencies, the authorities are aware of them and in fact they are sending some people to talk to me later today, but there is precious little they can do to stop me if I am serious about taking my own life at some unspecified distant future date. The only thing that they could do to stop me would be to incarcerate me permanently in a mental institution under 24/7 watch, but that would be unpractical, so they´re not going to do that, so my hands are free and besides, suicide is not a crime in Finland, which is indicative of the more advanced legal thinking found here, I think. After all, punishing a dead man is impossible and punishing from a failed suicide attempt is against logic.
  18. Our universe is a big place, although the amount of matter in it is finite, but that amount of matter is enough for billions of galaxies each containing HUGE amounts of stars and each star may have a planetary system capable of sustaining life. Although it requires the planet to be in the right zone to support life as we know it, chances are there are indeed planets capable of supporting complex life and once the conditions are right, then it only takes a spark to ignite the flame of life and that flame is very resilient and ever evolving. Has anyone heard of the theory that life actually originated inside comets? They speculate that there is liquid water inside comets and in that water life might develop and then be posited on a planed by comet dust when the comet makes a flyby. Some even speculate that new viruses may constantly be coming from outer space and infecting birds first and then jumping species to infect other forms of life. But, my answer is YES, there has to be life out there and we might not be the first intelligent species in the universe. The universe is old enough for life to have evolved even before Earth and our solar system was formed and looking at the history of evolution, once a species acquires intelligence, there is a technological explosion. I mean look at the history of mankind, we have existed on this Earth a very short time and in that short time we have evolved from cavemen to the modern society, all in some thousands of years, a very short time considering the history of life on Earth.
  19. Well, it looks like no angry moderator or a feral lawyer has reacted to my little insult on lawyers, after all they could sue me for libel, but only if it is targeted at a particular person I think, so insulting lawyers in general won´t land you in court, but insulting the Queen of England will see you doing time for Jus Majeste, for insulting the majesty of her royal person.
  20. Ok, but what about using models from other games, like ARMA 2, there would be some good gun models and trees, bushes, vehicles etc. that we could port over from that game, but as far as I know it´s a NO-GO.
  21. How many capable animators do we have in these forums anyway? Does anyone know someone?
  22. So I would have to get permission from them to use the model in my mod and include with it a notice banning any further distribution? You think they would agree to that? Besides, how can I use the models COLLECTIVELY, in a mod team? I bought the model so I own the license, but I cannot distribute it to others in an editable format, so they could work on it. I don´t have the skills to make animations , textures and all of that myself, looks like I just wasted a perfectly good 5 bucks on a model I can´t use. Oh well, it costed less than a burger meal, so its not a big loss.
  23. ...And since FalloutNV is NOT a closed game, but an open one, we cannot use content from Turbosquid I believe.
  24. Ok, the original thread was closed by an angry moderator, so I make this new thread instead. The goal is to add new creatures to the wasteland. Animals, Monsters, Dinosaurs, Robots, you name it. Now, Turbosquid contains some pretty cool models, but as of yet I am unsure whether we can use those without violating their license. So, the best solution would be to have some talented 3d-modeler do the models and donate them to the public domain, so they can be used in the mods freely without worrying about hungry lawyers coming to feed like the parasites they are (hopefully insulting lawyers doesn´t violate the terms of this forum, it is free speech after all) SO, ANY 3D MODELERS PLEASE STEP FORTH!
  25. Ok, I recently found out that you cannot distribute any content from Turbosquid in editable format, but that has a BIG loophole. If I put a 3d model from Turbosquid to any of my mods and in order to be in the game the file has to be in .nif format, then it is still accessible by Blender for example, which has .nif import capability. I have personally unpacked several of the Fallout 3 and FalloutNV archive files and looked at them in Blender and there´s NOTHING stopping me from editing those models. Now, if the models were meant to be non-accessible, they would have to be inside coded archive files which are locked with a password only known to the authors, everything else is free game. Now here are my questions: * How can I use content from Turbosquid without violating the license, which gives permission to distribute, but not in an accessible format. As I see it there is NO way to do that in Fallout series, as the standard file format is .nif, which is accessible? * Can I use the existing models found in Fallout games as a basis for my own work which I can freely publish or does Bethesda own my work if it contains more than 1% of their work? * Can I take 3d models from other games and use them in FalloutNV or other games? I believe this is called PORTING?
