Fallout NV Problem
longprong replied to AtomicTurtle's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
You have checked that you are not in windowed mode? Options - mode - windowed -
I always play off line, so it does not update
-
You do not want to reinstall unless you have to. Game patches are not made with the intention that end users need to reinstall the whole game every time. However you have already said that your game may be a little mucked up with some modding. So the choice is all down to you. I would run the repatched game and see how it runs, doing nothing more unless I really have to. Do not forget to install the updated FVSE if your mods require it. Personnally I am not installing the new patch. I am satisfied with NV as it currently is for now at least (pre patch) and have all my mods running smoothly so why change anything

Now Skevitj that is a very useful answer to the problem. I think you deserve Kudos for that. Thanks  -

Friendlies and Enemies: Maybe Doc Mitchell on both counts - do not remember too much but keep going back to him for another fix Companions: No, cannot be arsed dragging them around with me Parents: Unknown Early life: Brought up by a kind doctor in Goodsprings who apparently found me one day eating daddies arm Teen/Adult: No comment How'd they become said courier?: Doc Mitchell said i was old enough to do a paper round and it took off from there. -
Why is this game so glitchy?
longprong replied to animecollectorx's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Personally for me, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas all ran sweet with standard patches. Played all three vanilla for hours (usually through main quest first) without any problems. They only went AWOL when I started playing with modifications. I am a mod freak and eventually enhance every game but expect and accept glitches until I bottom out any problems. -
CTD Every few hours
longprong replied to Alphachimaera's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
In the absence of any other advice from folk who may be able to put their finger on your problem. Assuming that if you have the latest Steam patch installed from yesterday then you also have the updated NVSE to go with it Assuming that the ctd occurs randomly and not in the same quest, place, action or item etc, the fact that you are encountering CTD after a couple of hours and not sooner suggests to me that it is not mod based. Have you tested/monitored and ruled out the possibility of hardware faults (graphics card) or possible faults caused by software running in the background? Check your system by running NV in vanilla and ensure there are no ctd's - real pain but I guess you need to be certain of this To check mods I can only suggest: Add mods one at a time and play long enough to check all is well or until you hit a snag Ensure each mod is installed correctly with any compatabilty patches, FOMM BOSS (which you are doing) to check load order and archieve invalidation toggled. Mods that change game weapon balance etc might be influenced by the new patch and need updating - do not know - needs verification. You probably already know all this but hope it helps anyway -
Crash after launch
longprong replied to av3rsionfx's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Do you have any other windows software running? I had crashes caused by a screensaver manager. It was set to change the screensaver every 60 seconds, just enough time to get into the intro screen. Disabling the screensaver manager cured my CTD Long shot but hope this may help  -

This can be a useful tool http://www.fallout3n...ile.php?id=4710 It enabled me to see exactly what was going on inside the big red box and yes it does work with NV -

longprong replied to unforgivencarney's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
unforgivencarney. You have a texture/mesh issue resulting from one of your mod installs. You can experiment with removing/reinstalling mods etc until you find the culprit and rectify the problem. If all else fails...this works http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4710 It enabled me to see exactly what was going on inside the big red box and yes it does work with NV -
The site was down or at least unavailable in my neck of the woods for several hours yesterday. It came back on again mid evening GMT last night.

Mod questions regarding the new Steam patch
longprong replied to Detrimental2's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Yeh I'm still here Wolfiefang and thanks for your advice. There is no rush for me to patch just yet especially as I have just got my mod installs to run in harmony together.. I'll hang back a while and monitor those mod boards that change weapon balance etc. -
No Mods,no nothing crash on start
longprong replied to Azrael120782's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
I had a CTD at start up that was due to another programme running. It was a screensaver manager. When this was disabled the CTD's stopped. Hope this helps -
GECK won´t load ESM´s or ESP´s
longprong replied to Niborino9409's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Do you have the latest steam patch update? If so this is probably the problem until GECK is updated -

FONV 1.3 Price of Ammo Gone Up?
longprong replied to drakeelvin's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
I personnally found that there is never any shortage of ammo to be found so long as you are not too fussy what type it is. So I do not purchase ammo from dealers - just means I have to use the weapons with ammo available in stock and be careful that every bullet counts. Accumulating money, even after modding my weapons soon becomes no problem as the game progresses. I only need to hard scavange and sell to raise money in the early stages but after that it gets a bit too easy. -
They are both great to play. Maybe I was too seasoned with playing FO3 but when I started NV I found it too easy on Hardcore and very soon looked to modding the game for a more challenging environment.

skipped a quest by accident HELP
longprong replied to JimReaper's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
With 1000 save slots available I make a safe save for keeps about every hour of play just in case.... -
You only need steam to register the game and update. Otherwise just select to play offline. As Cavveman says, NVSM is good for managing your saves

Nevada Project Book of Earache CaliberX A World of Pain New Vegas Bounties 1 & 2 Imps More Extended Needs HUD Extended Cenral 3rd Person Camera Nevada Skies Desert Succubus with Lings Body by Race rePopulated wasteland Have the odd CTD :wallbash: but generally all work well together  EDIT - This is before installing the latest Steam patch

Well; Lt Albrecht, I take it that you do not agree with GenocideLolita then........ A bit off topic, but at least you have been able to vent off some STEAM !!!!! Thanks both of you for the laughs.

This is my first steam associated game...and I had reservations. I originally even thought that I had to download the game from steam, which shows how little I actually knew. Once registered, I set it to play offline and have had no problems at all, with the added bonus that pop on line and auto update. I'm not certain about downloading games from steam due to my broadband package but the NV arrangement - no problem.

Is there a mod out there that allows XP points and advance to next level to show on your HUD in game?
