Its funny because Fallout 3 isnt anything like a fallout game should be setting wise. I saw someone on here saying new vegas shouldnt be called fallout because its not post apocalyptic, but funny enough "fallout" games have always had pretty strong towns set up. If you walk around F3 its pretty destroyed and the settlements are tiny, the city has no one in it but zombies (gouls) the odd person and a few raiders. There is no strong society. New vegas has towns and off the map the hub, a city. For fans of the originals this is what the game should look like. That said i love fallout 3, and in its own way it still works. Maybe the area around washington was hit really bad and so no society has grown there. I also love the misssions, the family is a direct homage to the Omega man the precursur to will smiths I am legend (and a lot nearer to the book i am legend than will smiths) there are a lot of nods to apocalyptic films in the game. You can tell its not done by the original guys but its still fun and pretty loyal the the original games in other ways. You could tell with fallout 3 it was the oblivion team making it, they went dungeon crazy, oblivion with guns which wasnt a bad thing. New vegas however is a 100 times deeper. There is just more to do, from hardcore mode, food, making things etc. More guns, more characters. There is an interaction in different tribes. Its an all round polished product (ok maybe not polished as it crashes a lot but you know what i mean) For me the only thing that let new vegas down was New Vegas itself. It was pretty empty, the casinos were dead, and not enough hookers lol. It feels to me like they spent forever populating the outside and got bored when it got to new vegas. I was so disappointed with vegas. As some other people have said on here i think it comes down to style of play as to which you like. F3 has more apocalyptic feel, lots of dungeon crawling, focused story to take you through. Fun wacky stories, apocalyptic nods. New vegas, depth of story, more choices, outdoor adventures, crafting, hardcore mode, more fallout feel, Fallout cannon nods. Just my opinion. Oh and to the person saying f3 quest was longer. what? Its so short! Fallout nv has a quest about 10 times as long imo. I might be playing it a different way or something.
