  1. I have an annoying issue with my character. I get stuck on carpets, floor boards, roads... Example: I am walking across the room and I come to a rug. I get stuck. I have to jump on to the rug or walk around. Walking up stairs is next to impossible. Example: Walking up to the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun? Can't get up the steps. I have to walk up the hillside. Oh, and no this is NOT limited to Whiterun. It is a problem through out Skyrim indoors and out. I have DG, HF, DB and Falskaar. The only mods I am using that should effect my character directly: Dimonized UNP female body Fountain of Youth Beauty Project Left Hand Fix for One handed weapons Left Hand Rings New Animation for Magic Casting No Maam Breathing Idles No BBB Version Player Headtracking Realistic Ragdolls and Force :ermm: Run with Two Hand Weapon in One hand Same Walk and Run Speeds Lite Version However, none of these mods are new and the problem is fairly recent. I just recently found and downloaded a mod that makes dead bodies solid "so to speak" called Dead Body Collision Fix. This got me to thinking that it might have something to do with these "type" of settings. (This problem was occuring BEFORE downloading the dead body mod.) but that is a little above my CK skill level. Very frustrated. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
  2. lol. Not for me apparently... I tried. The only thing I accomplished was a big gapping see through hole. Yes. I am just that sad. haha. I have watched the how to videos and read the wiki... still.... ugh.
  3. I love the look of the vampire armor in general but it hides any amulets or necklaces you may be wearing. Would it be possible to remove that part of the mesh? I apologize if this has already done but I was not able to find it.
  4. AbFXSovengardeGlow 0010B2DE (http://fusromod.com/formids.php?idpage=spell_item) Hope it helps.... really.... cause... yep, I am glowing too! Update: No it did not work. I am usually a pretty easy going person and I have struggled through all the bugs, glitches, mods and patches. Finding the fix for a broken "whatever" has taken up more time then the actual game. This, unfortunately, is a real game breaker for me. From what I can gather, I either have to GLOW (that really boosts the reality and immersion...NOT) or I can just NOT complete the ... "Main Quest". Great one. Wondering why I bother at all. I will not be buying Dawnguard or Hearthfire not with an unplayable game. Last Update (promise): Creation Kit did fix the problem...after several failed tries. Thank goodness I backed up my Skyrim.esm. For those of you who (like me) are not at the top of the learning curve for modding and Creation Kit use... let me clarify vall1's solution: First and foremost make a BACK UP COPY of your Skyrim.esm and put it in a safe location. After opening Creation Kit mark Skyrim.esm as the "Active File". Look for the file AbFXSovengardeGlow and open this one for editing. When the edit screen opens, look to your right hand side and you will see a grid listing "SovengardeEffect". Completely delete this line from the grid and save your modded file. (Do not simply delete the file SovengardeEffect file itself from the Skyrim.esm as this had unfavorable results.) Make sure the mod is activated in NMM or whatever you use. Yes, you will have to start over at a point before you enter Sovngarde but admit it getting a chance to kill Alduin again....cool.
  5. ITry this "Improved New Skyrim Shadows for Medium-Range PC" http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/283 I also reduced the desktop area from 1920 x 1080 to 1280 x 800.
  6. I would love to be able to speak with people 'without' having to dismount. Also a faster dismount would be nice....or drawing your weapon will cause you to dismount, kinda skipping the "dismount your horse. draw your weapon. then attack" scenario we have going on now. I don't need horseback combat. I would probably suck at it anyway. lol. I have just ran across the "horse whistle" mod. Looking forward to trying that out. I also have the "Horses for followers mod" by Jorne aka Spudgunner...which is an awesome mod, btw. If some modding genius out there could create a mod that allowed you to speak with npc's without dismounting, I could live out my days in Skyrim happily waiting for Sovngarde's call. (I would/could learn to deal with the slow dismount. I have so far.) ...or if there is one already and I am just looking in the wrong places..... feel free to "tell me where to go".
  7. Wait, when you changed your screen resolution were the shadows fixed? Yes. I haven't had any difficulty with shadows or grid lines since I changed the screen resolution and used the above ini settings. Since then I have only had two occasions where grid lines have shown and both were upon entering a Dwemer ruin. I paused for a moment and the lines cleared and everything was fine. (It was almost as if the camera or picture needed to adjust or something. it was very brief) Skyrim is such a bloated program. Try lowering your screen resolution... it couldn't hurt. Oh, and don't forget to turn off your shadows and set your shadow bias scale. Changing the screen resolution seems to 'reset' these to the default so double check. This should fix or greatly reduce the problem. Screenshots: http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/596969657766373039/089F0F4ED25995B4AE417167524289F580BBF2E2/
  8. Change your shadow distance: fInteriorShadowDistance=0.0000 fShadowDistance=0.0000 AND change your shadow bias: fShadowBiasScale=0.1500 This is the number combo that seems to be working for me. I am a 2 1/2 hours now with NO grid lines or flashing shadows. (oh, I also reset my graphics card driver back to the old one. That took care of the blank choppy squares. 12. 4 driver was not working and playing well with my ATI Radeon HD 4200 card )
  9. I have been having the same issues as you know. Just playing around with some numbers and I haven't seen any grid lines in about 20 minutes of play. I don't know if it is fixed but thought I would hop on here and let you take a look: Try changing these settings (save copy first): fInteriorShadowDistance=0.0000 fShadowDistance=0.0000 fShadowBiasScale=0.1500 I have an "ATI Radeon HD 4200" graphics card so my over all numbers may be a little lower than yours. I am hoping it is not like last time...ran great for a couple of hours than crapped out again when steam "fixed" my files. lol I have turned auto updates off for now. Keeping my fingers crossed...cause it was great not having those awful lines and shadows. Here is my entire skyprefs.ini file: [General] fBrightLightColorB=1.0000 fBrightLightColorG=1.0000 fBrightLightColorR=1.0000 iStoryManagerLoggingEvent=-1 bEnableStoryManagerLogging=0 [imagespace] bDoDepthOfField=1 iRadialBlurLevel=0 [Display] iBlurDeferredShadowMask=0 fInteriorShadowDistance=0.0000 fShadowDistance=0.0000 iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=1024 iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048 iShadowSplitCount=2 iMaxAnisotropy=1 fLeafAnimDampenDistEnd=4600.0000 fLeafAnimDampenDistStart=3600.0000 fTreesMidLODSwitchDist=3600.0000 fGamma=0.8400 fDecalLOD2=1500.0000 fDecalLOD1=1000.0000 fSpecularLODStartFade=600.0000 fShadowLODStartFade=200.0000 fLightLODStartFade=1000.0000 iTexMipMapMinimum=0 iTexMipMapSkip=1 iWaterMultiSamples=1 iMultiSample=1 iShadowMode=3 bTreesReceiveShadows=0 bDrawLandShadows=0 bFull Screen=1 iSize H=768 iSize W=1360 fMeshLODFadePercentDefault=1.2000 fMeshLODFadeBoundDefault=256.0000 fMeshLODLevel2FadeTreeDistance=2048.0000 fMeshLODLevel1FadeTreeDistance=2844.0000 fMeshLODLevel2FadeDist=3072.0000 fMeshLODLevel1FadeDist=4096.0000 iScreenShotIndex=2 bShadowMaskZPrepass=0 bMainZPrepass=0 iMaxSkinDecalsPerFrame=3 iMaxDecalsPerFrame=10 bFloatPointRenderTarget=0 sD3DDevice="ATI Radeon HD 4200" bFXAAEnabled=1 iShadowMapResolution=512 fShadowBiasScale=0.1500 iShadowMaskQuarter=4 iAdapter=0 iPresentInterval=1 iShadowFilter=3 bTransparencyMultisampling=0 bDrawShadows=1 [Grass] b30GrassVS=1 fGrassStartFadeDistance=3000.0000 fGrassMaxStartFadeDistance=7000.0000 fGrassMinStartFadeDistance=0.0000 [MAIN] bGamepadEnable=0 bCrosshairEnabled=1 fHUDOpacity=1.0000 bSaveOnPause=1 bSaveOnTravel=1 bSaveOnWait=1 bSaveOnRest=1 fSkyCellRefFadeDistance=150000.0000 [GamePlay] bShowFloatingQuestMarkers=1 bShowQuestMarkers=1 iDifficulty=2 [interface] bDialogueSubtitles=0 bGeneralSubtitles=0 fMouseCursorSpeed=1.0000 bShowCompass=1 [Controls] fGamepadHeadingSensitivity=1.0000 fMouseHeadingSensitivity=0.0240 bAlwaysRunByDefault=1 bInvertYValues=0 bGamePadRumble=0 bMouseAcceleration=1 [Particles] iMaxDesired=750 [saveGame] fAutosaveEveryXMins=15.0000 [AudioMenu] fAudioMasterVolume=1.0000 fVal7=1.0000 uID7=0 fVal6=1.0000 uID6=0 fVal5=1.0000 uID5=0 fVal4=1.0000 uID4=0 fVal3=0.7500 uID3=94881 fVal2=0.3500 uID2=466532 fVal1=1.0000 uID1=554685 fVal0=0.6500 uID0=1007612 [Clouds] fCloudLevel2Distance=262144.0000 fCloudLevel1Distance=32768.0000 fCloudLevel0Distance=16384.0000 fCloudNearFadeDistance=9000.0000 [TerrainManager] fTreeLoadDistance=25000.0000 fBlockMaximumDistance=100000.0000 fBlockLevel1Distance=32768.0000 fBlockLevel0Distance=20480.0000 fSplitDistanceMult=0.7500 bShowLODInEditor=0 [NavMesh] fObstacleAlpha=0.5000 fCoverSideHighAlpha=0.8000 fCoverSideLowAlpha=0.6500 fEdgeFullAlpha=1.0000 fEdgeHighAlpha=0.7500 fEdgeLowAlpha=0.5000 fTriangleFullAlpha=0.7000 fTriangleHighAlpha=0.3500 fTriangleLowAlpha=0.2000 fLedgeBoxHalfHeight=25.0000 fEdgeDistFromVert=10.0000 fEdgeThickness=10.0000 fPointSize=2.5000 [Trees] bRenderSkinnedTrees=1 uiMaxSkinnedTreesToRender=20 [Decals] uMaxDecals=100 bDecals=1 bSkinnedDecals=1 uMaxSkinDecals=35 uMaxSkinDecalsPerActor=20 [LOD] fLODFadeOutMultObjects=5.0000 fLODFadeOutMultItems=5.6000 fLODFadeOutMultActors=7.0000 fLODFadeOutMultSkyCell=1.0000 [Launcher] bEnableFileSelection=1 bShowAllResolutions=1 uLastAspectRatio=3 [blurShaderHDR] bDoHighDynamicRange=1 [blurShader] bUseBlurShader=0 [Water] iWaterReflectHeight=1024 iWaterReflectWidth=1024 bUseWaterDisplacements=1 bUseWaterRefractions=1 bUseWaterReflections=1 bUseWaterDepth=1 Hope something here helps you. I am going to get back to the game..... please, oh please, oh please let it still be line free! :ermm: Interesting! I changed my screen resolution...still just playing around tweaking graphics. The lines came back when I changes screen resolution...It actually reset all of the shadow settings. Just an FYI. I returned to the above settings and have had beautiful game play for HOURS!!! Only one glitch and I think that was a completely separate Skyrim issue. (surprise surprise. lol)
  10. You may have already seen this but we are not alone with this problem. I have seen a lot of complaints about the same thing all with ATI cards.

    http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/645518-skyrim-graphics-and-lighting-problems/

(A re-install did not help me. Steam would not let me run the game until it installed the new patches.)

  11. I don't have a lot of technical skills, do I do that in-game or some date file I have to edit? You will find fshadowbias in your SkyrimPref ini file. I tried this but my game started crashing and it didn't fix the bug. Still you should give it a try. I have an older graphics card than you....never know might help you.
  12. I tried that but the only thing I accomplished was losing my saved games. I completely uninstalled and erased everything (except saves). I tried to reinstall "without" the update....but steam wouldn't let me load the game. It kept saying updates needed. I would check NO and steam would close the game. Finally, I gave up and let steam update.... now it won't use my saves.
  13. Apparently no. Steam "fixed my files" with its update. Reinstalled my shadows... laser beams are back(white and black grid lines). Now it is even worse then before and the shadows won't even shut off. Are you getting the strobe light effect? Don't mind that so much...but those lines ruin the game!. To make matters worse I am seeing a lot of very strange npc behavior. Example: floating above the counters, or disappearing only to reappear behind me. Way to go Bethesda! sheesh.
  14. I finally gave up and just turned off the shadowing. Still works beautifully and looks great! Enjoying playing the game without the flickering and lines so much, I don't miss shadows. lol Go to: C:\Users\your_user_name_here\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\SkyrimPrefs Make a back up copy of your SkyrimPrefs.ini file then change: fShadowDistance=0 and fInteriorShadowDistance=0 in your SkyrimPrefs.ini and save. It is working for me. Hope it works for you. If not...aren't you glad you made a "back up copy" :wallbash: .
  15. I am having the exact same problem! Just posted to the STEAM forum yesterday. http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2633849 I am going to try the Direct X fix you suggested!
