  1. i can also attest to the majesty of safety load. I was freezing a lot and getting infinite loading screens. i never froze again after getting safety load. i still get ctd's, but thats caused by other stuff. freezing issues can usually be solved with safety load
  2. @ Lord Garon ok. so I've started my mod search. Just as a test, i disabled all mods. dlc and updates included. Then i booted up a "coc river wood" game, and i experienced exactly the same frame rate issues... i changed my ini settings to your suggested settings, and all crash dumps seem to have ceased. so theres that.

I don't know if this is relevant or helpful or not, but maybe it might mean something to some of you: about halfway through my play through, i had zero framerate problems. the first time i experienced crippling frame rate was at the bannered mare in with Lively Inns and Taverns activated. My game promptly dropped to 5 fps. (i had been in the tavern with the mod active several times previous with no issue) I powered through, and spent the night in the game there, and left, and the low frame rate (5-10) followed me all the way through whiterun. once i left the city though, the frame rate went back up to normal levels. the next few times i went to whiterun, there was lots of fluctuation in frame rate, where there had not been previous i have no idea if that matters at all but there you go.
  4. I don't want to have to start over, but i am willing to, if thats what i have to do. I haven't uninstalled any mods in my game. i used to do that but when i figured out that was bad i stopped. i had all the mods i wanted activated, and have not taken any out since i started my play through.
  5. ill give that a go while i narrow down possible mod issues or conflicts.
  6. It seems that when Skyrim generates the ini the method it uses to determine the system and set the values it not very accurate....or is it? When Skyrim generated the ini files on my system it put these lines in Skyrim.ini fUpdateBudgetMS=800.0 fExtraTaskletBudgetMS=800.0 fPostLoadUpdateTimeMS=2000.0 iMinMemoryPageSize=256 iMaxMemoryPageSize=512 I had not changed them. I have not tried using the "default" values from here http://www.creationkit.com/INI_Settings_(Papyrus) EDIT Tried the "default" values and performance was less then half as good. I really doubt those settings are causing the issue. EDIT 2 OP I don't see any problems from your papyrus settings, but maybe try these. I used the ini settings from the frost fall website, which you have shown in your spoiler tag. thats why i have the values that i do for papyrus in my ini.
  7. would it help if i posted my mod list and order? I haven't uninstalled a single mod the whole game. I did, however, install one mod about two thirds of the way into this current game. It was Corpse Preparation - True Necromancy. As soon as i get home, ill try the new game testing method. Whenever I've tested for mod issues and stuff, I've always used the halving method. ill let you know this evening or tomorrow afternoon.

  9. if it is possibly a mod, then would it possibly be helpful to activate/deactivate esps and what not, to see if a mod is causing it?

While i did see frame rate fluctuations, none were as consistent or as permanent as in my main character's save games. the frame rate topped at 50 and bottomed at 25. but it would go back up after bottoming out. here is the papyrus log from the new game: [08/09/2014 -   13. I just thought it looked high. I don't know anything about gpu logs, so i just assumed 99% gpu load was bad.

  15. Ok. So i got gpu-z and had it do its thing. Nvidia Geforce Gtx 770: heres what i got. - GPU core clock - highest: 1241 mhz - GPU memory clock - highest: 1752.8 mhz - GPU Temp -Highest: 80 C - Memory used - highest: 3166 mb - total available: 4096 mb - GPU load - highest: 99% - memory controller load - highest: 59% - power consumption - highest: 96% So... Uh. i suppose that means I've found the problem? what exactly does this mean?
