  1. I have a problem when I try to export my weapon model to nif format using the Niftools plugin for 3ds Max 2012. It comes up with "Export Error, Unkown Error" when I click export. Niftiools can export other models I have, but not this one. Has anyone got any advice?

    Thanks

  2. Thanks :)

So, if I have a texture, but my weapon model is in four parts, do I have to have a separate texture for each part or does the single texture still work? I used the replace similar parts method in nifskope so my model is in four parts.

  3. Alright, I have my mesh in the geck/fallout, it all works, and i can use it in-game. Just, the texture will not go on it, whatever I do. I have set up new texture sets and I have tried to apply the textures in nifskope, to no avail. How, once the mesh/nif is working do i put my texture/s on it? I have the normal, diffuse, gloss and specular. Do I make each one its own dds, or do I merge them all or some of them?
  4. No 3ds files are not the same thing as a max scene. It's not a file format I ever try to use either.

Max files are not backward compatible unless you save it right. hit ctrl+s and in the 'save type as' select the max version you want, max 2012 can save backwards to 2010 version scenes, I am not sure what 2013 can do but I expect something similar.

Ahh, thank you, I was noticing some weird stuff when i was trying to re-size it :P

  5. Are .max files not backward compatible? My project won't open in 2012, so i exported it as a .3ds in 2013 and then imported it to 2012, Is that the same? Also, i still have no clue what to do now I have 2012, niftools and no space left on my HDD :/ If ya know any good tutorials for weapons NOT armour or for skyrim, that would be appreciated :)
  6. Ok, so I have been slaving away making a detailed weapon model and texture to put into fallout, only to find out that I can't do squat with 3dsmax 2013. All the tutorials for importing weapons use the nif plugin for max, but there isn't a nif plugin for 2013, and the ones for 2010, 11, and 12 don't work. So, I need someone to show me/tell me how to import a weapon without using 3dsmax (if it is possible), Starting from converting my 3ds file into a nif. I don't want my model to go to waste, now i have spent so much time on it...

Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

  7. hi Millenia my 3ds max wont do the vertex then cut in 3ds max and i am pressing where i want it to be it done the starting point but not the rest of the square points is not going on the background of the picture any help will be appreciated sorry for the confusion explain it

I had this problem, try going to the bottom right veiwport and "flip" it. You can't cut from the back.

  8. I have this very same problem. I made my new mod, saved it, and it doesn't appear in the data folder. I tried searching for it, and apparently it doesn't exist anywhere on my Computer. Whats more, when I tried to save the esp somewhere else, and it says invalid directory. Anyone know a fix?

(I would start a new thread, but the images above are kinda helpful)
