  1. Thanks very much; don't think I knew the .bif file information. I guess what I'm ultimately trying to learn is how to get the game to recognize custom portraits for NPCs when making a module -- putting them into the Portraits folder only seems to allow usage when creating playable characters. (I'm adept at creating custom portraits already, so that's not the problem.) My observation is that NWN seems to be looking elsewhere for the NPC portraits, and was thinking that if only I could find where that was, the problem might be solved. I already know how to modify the .2da file, make the .hak file, etc. It's just where to tell the game to look for NPC portrait files that seems to be giving me problems. Any light that could be shed on this would be much appreciated!
  2. Sorry about that. Your best bet at this point may be to purchase NWN from Good Old Games (www.gog.com) for US $9.99 or so. The only downside to that is when trying to play on certain multiplayer servers -- because the file you download is a single copy and not many separate copies, it's the same CD code for anyone who downloads it -- and so you might get booted from a server when it detects you trying to log on with a CD code already used by another player, who's playing the exact same copy as you have! Still, it's worth the price.
  3. It's worked just fine for me. Although since this reply is so late, you probably know that already.
  4. If anybody would be kind enough to answer my question about where to find NWN's NPC portraits, I'd be very grateful!
  5. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find any answer anywhere online. Where does Neverwinter Nights 1 keep its standard NPC portraits? I'd like to put in some custom portraits in a module, but can't find where the game is calling them from. At this point, I am convinced that there's some hidden folder or something for these things -- they most certainly do not come from my normal Portraits folder. Strangely, a complete search of my Neverwinter Nights files turned up absolutely nothing. I cannot find a single NPC portrait file in any of the folders. Obviously they must exist somewhere in there! Game is Neverwinter Nights Complete, running on Windows 8 (which I'm surprised it even worked on, unlike Dragon Age Origins, but that's another story  ).
  6. Having trouble putting in a signature image -- every time I try, I see a billion coding characters as my "signature" on my profile, instead of the image itself. And I'm sticking to the dimension limit.
  7. I think it's kind of funny that you can say hello to yourself on your own profile.
  8. My module uses a lot of haks, and I tried consolidating as much as possible by combining them. The module still works, but for some reason, certain doors have entirely disappeared. This seems to occur only with the "Castle Exterior, Rural" tileset -- doors that are particular to that tileset, and which cannot be substituted, go missing, and with them the areas to which they transition. I've tried rearranging the stacking order of the consolidated haks in every possible combination (there are seven in all, as opposed to the original 30 separate ones), but to no avail. The module is planned as multiplayer. I fired it up on the NWserver, and then logged in on a separate computer... and the missing doors are all there. It's only on my regular computer, where I'm designing it, that they never show up now.
