  1. Just believing, one might say. Don't fool yourself. You probably get as many localised ads as the next man. There's always someone looking. At least at your IP to sell you the newest revolutionary toilet paper. Never underestimate how far you drop your pants on a usual day on the web. At least one shouldn't offer to do a striptease. I'll just stick with not being paranoid and enjoy my three dollar games, thanks. you have skyrim, so you have steam yet you have no idea how it works?!?!? WTF?!?! Very few people are aware of how Steam works on here. I suppose it's not really their fault that they don't want to give it a chance.. oh wait, it is. Nevermind. But really. After having several hard drives die, it's so, so, so much easier to just click 'install' instead of all that disk switching goodness and installing games one at a time.
  2. Exactly. Which is a major nuissance. It's been stated multiple times that this can be turned off. Just sayin'. I'm a bit jealous that it's on sale now. But I've also bought.. way too many games in the past few days. So. Three dollar games make me happy.
  3. There is a web browser in steam as well. That's what I tend to use when playing a steam game.
  4. I had an issue with preordering the special edition guide from EB Games. I preordered and paid up front the day before release; they had sold out, but were expecting a second shipment. THey got the shipment, I got no notification, so they sold my preordered copy. When I called them to see if they had come in they told me this and I was pissed. Luckily they had one reserved that wasn't a preorder and I got that one. First and last time I ever preorder anything that isn't on Steam. Too much of a worry to put the money out and end up with nothing.
  5. In eighty-one hours I've seen like, five bugs, tops. One quest issue that isn't game breaking, a dragon flew through the ground, there's a random dragon body in Solitude still (i'm growing fond of him, I will call him Sleepy), and.. that's it, actually. Just a thought.. perhaps OP has a pirated copy? They tend to be much more glitchy than legit games.
  6. Stupid question, but what button are you pushing to take the screenshot, and are you playing through Steam?
  7. I usually make male characters because females tend to be awkward, like whoever made them has never seen a female before. But that issue doesn't happen with TES from what I've seen, and Skyrim is no exception, so I enjoy playing a female character.
  8. Is there supposed to be a mask on the shrowded hood? I don't seem to have the shrowded cowl - only the maskless one - but I do have the shrowded hood. It doesn't have a mask on my female khajiit character. http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/668/2011112800010.jpg http://img265.imageshack.us/img265/6936/2011112800011.jpg
  9. 1. I wouldn't have bought the game, personally, if it wasn't available for download. I have enough junk laying around. I also lose things. Often. 2. I think this was already covered fairly extensively by WarKirby. 3. Not.. really. 4. I think so. Gamers are social creatures who often enjoy the company of other gamers. Also have you seen steam sales? I got New Vegas yesterday for five dollars. Not to mention this really cuts back on the consumption of materials used to make PC games. Those plastic cases they come in aren't recyclable, not to mention they're made from petroleum based substances. Did I mention I work at a recycling depot? However, I don't think it should be required. It should be an option, but it shouldn't be required to run the game out of the box.
  10. I find corpses in Riften as well. Also, the one time I saw one alive, it was aggressive? Like it's dot was red. Very strange.
  11. Ooo, more steam bashing. Big surprise there. Yes, you can enable offline mode. You can also disable those ads that show up. Though I wonder, if your computer has this much trouble running steam, can it even run skyrim? Perhaps the issue isn't steam and rather your computer simply can't handle the game.
  12. During the quest in which Barbas had to follow me to some place, he kept walking into me. At one point the little bastard pushed me off a cliff. Was he glitched, or was this intentional to emphasize how annoying he is?
  13. Oh dear, I should go back home and grab him before he runs away :[ I really enjoy having him with me, personally. Except for the barking.
  14. As far as I know, the console commands aren't meant to be used in game, therefore it's technically not a bug.
  15. Hi - for whatever it's worth, I have been running the game countless hours and it has randomly quit once. I am running an average year old PC with a good Nvidia card and Skyrim maxed out, runs like silk provided I turn off arthroscopic filtering....actually I can't see a difference on or off and I am a graphic eye-candy nut which is what drew me to Skyrim. I posted my thoughts a few days ago. I notice that some of the latest mods like improved water and speeding up horses are making a huge difference in what is already an astoundingly beautiful game. Just thought I'd mention that. Well now you've got me looking these things up to see what I can do to play on higher settings.
  16. If the game makes your whole rig go down, that could be related to some overheating problem, have you checked you CPU, GPU temperatures? - just a thought.... Agree. Make sure your power supply is at least 500w. Newer rigs should have 600-650 watts. The last time my whole rig crashed like that, my graphics cards was heating up because it was packed with dust. Blew it out with compressed air and runs nice and cool now. My computer runs like crap when it's dusty as well. I clean it usually once a month with q-tips, and just picked up some compressed air a few weeks ago. I keep the side off (okay, I lost it, but it's here somewhere) so it gets pretty dusty pretty quickly.
  17. So I've never been big on modding. Only mods I used in Oblivion were fixes for game breaking bugs. But something bothers me. When you skin an animal, they keep their skin. It would be nice to see a mod that changes that. I realize this probaby sounds really.. gross? But it's just something that bugs me a lot. Like in Oblivion when you harvested something and nothing about it changed. Just a thought.
  18. Perhaps there could be a mod in which you can actually set your characters preference to avoid unwanted advances by either sex. My Khajiit is female and only interested in females, for example, and getting hit on by boys would be slightly awkward for her. Then again, irl it's not exactly like you can look at someone and know they're straight/gay/etc. So it's really a personal preference. Not something I'd use, but others might find it useful.
  19. Name: Ji'kahr Race: Khajiit Level: 21 Skills: One Handed, Sneak, Lockpicking I had been playing a dark elf and restarted after twenty-some hours :P First character I played in Oblivion was a khajiit and it just didn't feel right to start anywhere else in Skyrim.
  20. That would make a very empty game world. Also, I like looking for high end plates and things to decorate my house with. And they're light and sell for a decent amount, so quick way to make gold.
  21. I'm feeling a bit lonely here. In fifty-eight hours of game play I've ran into maybe two non game breaking bugs (Delvin not taking larceny items and an arrow stuck in my eyeball, which I personally found hilarious), one crash that was most likely my computer being unable to handle one particular scene at that moment (she's a bit old and in need of some new parts), and.. that's it? Perhaps it's my lack of interest in graphics. I play on low and enjoy it. Still find it magnificent. I'm loving the quests so far; the thieves guild quest was an amazing story to participate in. I'm a bit disappointed in the lack of options, especially with speech, but I don't feel like I've played enough to really form a good opinion on that. Especially since I haven't been doing the main quest. And for the UI, I really like it. I've run into the problem with the arrow/big text not being where it should be, but I assume that'll be fixed in a mod or patch. Till then it's easy enough to figure out which text is highlighted. My biggest plus? No more scrolling through endless keys just so I can find a torch! But when I come here looking for advice on little things, everyone seems to be having problems. Crashing and the like. Instability. Ragging on the features. And just general negativity. Not to mention the Steam hate. I've been using Steam for years, and if people actually took the time to check out its features, they'd probably really find it useful. Is anyone actually enjoying this game like I am?
  22. I plan to take back the grey fox bust for my house. It's quite lovely. Hopefully no one will miss it.
  23. I have to agree with the above poster. I've spent the last several days on the thieves guild quest line and just finished the main part today, but still have a lot left to do. There's a lot more than the main quests that affect the game and the factions.
  24. Thank you! I've been putting off finishing the quest till I got a response, haha. I seem to have ran into the bug with delvin though where he will no longer buy the larceny items. Hopefuly there'll be a fix for that eventually.
  25. I'm at the tail end of the quest line - just have to do the pilgrim's road or trail or whatever it's called I forget - but I haven't finished all of the additional quests yet. I've read that the loot you bring to Delvin will break and you won't be able to sell it to him after the quest is finished, so I'm running to grab one thing I missed, but what about the other quests like number jobs and things? Can you still do them or no?
