  1. I've just tried this fix and it worked for me. I've been angry about the grey faced npc's since I started making house mods, now I've found a solution.

     

    Here's what I did:

     

    Step 1: I created a mod with an NPC in my custom house.

    Step 2: I used TESVSnip to convert the house mod "esp" (plugin file) to an "esm" (master file)

    Step 3: Open the new "Master" file (esm) in the Creation Kit.

    Step 4: Use the same method that's been used by everyone for esp fix. Select the "ACTOR" selection from the Object Window in CK, type in your NPC's ID (in my mod I have multiple NPC's so I use the same initials at the beginning of each one, in this case mine is "MH" so I search for my npc's by typing in MH.

    Step 5: Click to highlight your NPC (hold "CTRL" when selecting each one, to select multiple npc's) then hold CTRL and press F4

     

    This process will generate the "FaceGenData" for the ESM specifically, since the face data doesnt convert along with the rest of the files from the ESP.

    So, after generating the face data from the ESM, I have now created new files in my Skyrim directory.

    File path is as follows: Steam/SteamApps/common/skyrim/Data/Textures/Actors/Character/FaceGenData/FaceTint/"CellName"

    Steam/SteamApps/common/skyrim/Data/meshes/Actors/Character/FaceGenData/FaceTint/"CellName"

    (This process has added a new folder with the name of the CELL the NPC is located in, as a directory to read the face appearance textures and meshes from)

     

    I'm not sure if adding the generated face data to a package file for downloading will work or not, havent tried or tested.

    It might be easier for each user to open each file containing a grey faced npc with ck and just generate the data themselves, easy to do and doesnt take long at all. Besides, I don't know if each generated face files have the same "ID" or if it's different for each user.

     

     

    Hope this helps anyone that had this issue.

    Another way to do it is to while in game open console select target NPC then type "setnpcweight 10" or any number from 1 to 100. and there face is matched with there body but don't try this with one that has it's own .esm , it works for some with an esm but it messed one of my followers up and I had to make a new one, but this works great for newly made followers and npc's without .esm's

  2. Alright, I've had this problem for a while now with certain mods. The only problem is that I run a lot of mods together for a really varied experience, so isolating which mod is causing the problem is a pain. Main thing I want though, is to stop the mods from causing these problems in the first place. For instance, I had a really nice mod installed about a month ago that I really wanted to keep, but it kept freezing the game at the spot when the horse thief in the beginning of the game starts talking to you. I've also noticed that if I have more than one mod that changes or adds locations to the Skyrim world map, then that in and of itself causes my game to freeze. Here's some information about what I'm currently running as of this post, including what I still have but currently am not running.

    I tried to turn off the Steam Workshop mods as well, but those aren't showing up anywhere for me to turn off. Despite doing this, it's still causing my PC to freeze, and I'm really tired of being forced to do a hard reset. I was REALLY hoping that it wasn't RTS For Skyrim, but it looks like it might be. I really wanted to keep that, but it looks like I'm going to have to turn it off and see if that fixes the issue.

    wtf? I just turned off RTS For Skyrim and it's still causing my PC to freeze? Looks like my next move is to turn off everything one at a time except for SKSE and SkyUI.

    Well, I've narrowed it down to Better Males and ApachiSkyHair or Expanded Color Selection - Eyes - Full. Or it might be all three. Suffice to say, I'm tired of having to get up to do hardresets, so I'm just going to leave all three off and turn all the rest back on.

     

    On a sucky note, my character is now going to look ugly again... T__T

     

    On a positive note, I can just put on the Black Sacrament Winter Armor so I don't have to see my character anymore!

     

    On another positive note, it looks like I get to keep RTS For Skyrim afterall!

     

    And on my last positive note, I figured out that the Steam Mods weren't showing up in the vanilla or Nexus Modlist, because they're listed in the Nexus Plugin list, so I can test those and get them working now! Though, I'll have to delete a few of them now since they're kinda redundant. I don't need More Dragons and Moar Dragons if I have Deadly Dragons.

    Brilliant! So I re add all my mods, and turn on all the steam mods. Now it's starting to crash the game at startup. So I used the plugin list on NMM to turn off all the files and test each one. Turns out the Dragonbone Weapon mod has a file that is supposed to enable it's use with Deadly Dragons Mod. Deleting that now has my game working again.

     

    So I go ahead and add a few mods through steam for eye color and hair. If I can't have Better Males mod, then I should at least get something right? WRONG. Now the stupid game is freezing my PC again. I'm gonna remove those mods and see if just sticking with a vanilla character will fix the issue.

    Delete the mods you know don't work then delete the ones you don't need or can do without, and you have to many follower mods, when you have to many mods effecting the same thing than it will mess up if you want to change your followers to don't die than use the Construction Kit to mark them essential

  3. Well if the CK is having trouble deleting them, the only other option AFAIK is to TESVSnip.

    OK but I think I figured it out maybe, when I did what you said it doubled and overlapped all navmeshes very laggy, so I deleted all navmeshes inclouding the vanilla ones and then "ignored" then "unignored" and now it seems to be back to normal, just hope I didn't break anything, or I'm just gonna forget about my mod right now and get back to playing but yea pm me you r info maybe you can help with some other stuff if you want.

    Do you know how to script ?

    Is it possible to assign a custom body mesh to a NPC without changing all others ?

  4. yvw, and I enjoy helping.. well trying to help anyway lol.

     

    The CK is a pain in the butt. It's so easy to edit stuff by accident and you have to jump through the 'ignore' hoop to actually undo them.

    If you try to edit anything inside the CK, if that's what you mean by hand, then you can't delete them.

     

    When you look at your mod now in the 'Details' window, are all the NAVM records gone?

    No what happend was I marked all of them ignore , then exited and tried to load CK back up and it crashed, so I un-ignored all of them and loaded CK and it worked and it also returned the vanilla ones like I wanted so thanks bro you helped me allot, but I have all of my old ones there to and don't want them I just want to start over. So I guess I have to delete them one by one? right ?

  5. My first problem is when I shrink the npc's to fit in the arena, they can't fight because they can't reach each other do to the game is still using the "male body nif" which is a normal size. Anyone have any ideas to fix this?

    The mod is cool it's basically a gambling game with brownie like figers or monsters, and you can place bets or watch .

     

    My second problem is how to script the gambling part of the game?

    Any help would be great

  6. Delete the override records from your mod, so the ones in the ESM will no longer be overridden.

     

    Either use TESVSnip to delete the navmesh records, or use the CK and ignore them.

     

    I think quite a few people will need to do this since the 1.5 update. Remember to BACKUP! Losing weeks of work is gonna suck.

  7. I had a large armour and Weapon collection in Dovahkiin Hideout but with the new patch all disappear. I come from a campaign and ready to full my mannequin with new cloths and weapons and I note that all disappear.

     

    Or will I have been robbed? :down:

     

    Anybody else experience any of this preciosities,I mean , the Steam self upgrade spoil anything in your games?

     

     

     

    If I were you Id'e get rid of it, it's got lot's of bugs and is far from finished, it hs no navmesh or animations for npc's and followers, and the idea of linking all player homes is a little to non immersion for me. oh, and the NPC's should be saved to face gen data to a esm so there is no npc face discoloration .

  8. from what I saw it didn't matter if it was slightly raised above the ground or slightly below the ground, as its just an area for npc's to walk, i dont think they'll start to fly above ground or go underground if it isn't exact

     

    but idk for sure

    maybe someone can help me with nav meshing stairs, when I get to the top it won't let me go any further ???

  9. Why are outfits created anyways. I would also really REALLY like to know how to make custom "mod" items spawn on random NPC's that I encouter in Skyrim?

    Maybe if you make a custom item into a leveled item then put into inventory

  10. Make sure that you're assigning the keyword "WRackTrigger" to the plaque and the keyword "WRackActivator" to the activator.

     

    In other words, when you double-click on the white marker, you should see the keyword "WRackTrigger" in Linked Ref, and "WRackActivator" in Linked From. When you double click the plaque, it should have "WRackActivator" in Linked Ref and "WRackTrigger" in Linked From.

     

    If you are using the WeaponRackCOALeftACTIVATORPlayerHouse or WeaponRackCOARightACTIVATORPlayerHouse, change the RackType property to 3.

     

    Also, the plaque is required. What happens is that when you activate the white marker, it looks for its linked ref (the plaque) and hangs your weapon/shield onto it, not on itself.

  11. Don't copy them, duplicate them and move them away from the original, then cut (not copy) and paste into your own cell.

    For some reason, I've found that copying can cause problems as well (seems to keep it linked to the original cell).

     

    This happens with mannequins as well. Maybe that's why they start walking around. (looking for their original cell) :D

     

    This could be true! You know, the female mannequins have asked me for directions... but the male mannequins don't! Must be inherent! :tongue:

     

    Thanks for the advice Tamb0. I'll give the cut and paste a go and see if that fixes the issue, but if it doesn't I'll upload the esp and link to it if you are still willing to have a look at it.

    It actually means Coat of Arms, but as there is no Coat of Arms in Skyrim, they just put a shield there instead.

    Are you saying that we can add more than one activator to one plaque ?

  12. Sibastion - yeh thanks i did what you said and it seems to have worked :) i also disabled the city forests esp's and also lost art of the blacksmith (i read somewhere it may conflict with other smithing mods) and for now my game seems to be running flawlessly :D

  13. You should be able to replace them pretty easily, although using the Navmesh toolbar is a little complicated when you are starting off. The Creation Kit Navmesh tutorial will do a better job of giving you the information you need than any short post I could write. go to CreationKit.com and look through the tutorial tree. They are pretty good at the basic tools. Once you get the Navmesh tool set up right, it is a simple ctrl-click whee you want a new vertice and when you have three selected, the hot key "a' fills in the triangle.

    I know how to do all that, I need to get the vanilla ones back.

  14. brokendeck - yeah that is one of the ones i disabled first as that was my immediate thought as to what might cause it. Well actually i disabled both the light fix and the normal city forest .esp, would that mess it up even more if i started a game with that plugin enabled??

    I forgot to tell you if you unpack your meshes make sure to unpack them to your data folder or it won't work, it actually wont unpack all of them but it will unpack enough for it to have no CTD anymore, make sure you have an extra few gigs of HD space,

  15. Trying to hang simple weapon plaque's , and there not working. I put them on the wall and add the "Activator" but when I go into game and try to use it, the weapon ends up some where else ??? I am not a stranger to modding I know my way around the CK and the Construction set's of all Bethesda games but this is stumping me, any help ???

Hi all, I have started a new game with these plugins (and other mods like texture replacers, bodies, etc.) and first of all in the opening sequence, no matter which faction i choose to follow into the keep after the dragon attack, just after they remove my bindings and we attack the first lot of guards in the keep the AI stops working and they either run straight into a wall and keep doing it or just stand still while saying "come on! this way!!".

    After messing around with some of my plugins removing quite a few until it got to the point where i didnt want to remove anymore or else i would be playing vanilla, i just decided to run to the end of the opening sequence to see what happened. Once i left the cave the the follower would be there and tell me to either meet their sister or whoever it is for the other faction, so i thought it must just have been a bug in the game and everything else after that worked until i got to the point where i was on my way to whiterun.

    At this point, as soon as i get anywhere close to whiterun my game either crashes or freezes. Can anyone with knowledge look at my plugins and see what might be causing it please?

    Sometimes the only way to fix the Whiterun crashes is to unpack all of your BSA files "meshes" with BSA unpacker or OBMM or anything, but that will work for sure. I don't know about your other problem but that's defenatly mod related, remember never change NPC's that are part of quests

  17. Unpacking your Meshes.bsa is probably going to make the game less stable...

     

    First off, if you've overclocked your CPU or GPU or you have a factory overclocked GPU try bumping them down to reference speeds.

     

    Next, Is your SSD a 320, 510, or 520? And are you running the newest firmware available? SSDs are known to be less stable than HDDs all across the board, though most people experiencing issues are the owners of a Sandforce 2281 controlled SSD (the 520 series). While Intel has seen a lot less issues out of their implementation of SF 2281 then many of their competitors (OCZ, Patriot, etc.) there's still a handful of drives out there causing issues ranging from general instability to BSODs every 20 minutes to bricking... If you have an HDD available I'd recommend installing your game to it to see if it clears up the issue. If so, you may have a problem with your SSD.

     

    Third, are you running any background processes that may be interfering with the game? While the Creation Engine seems a lot more forgiving than the Gamebryo Engine it's built on, it may still have issues with waiting it's turn in the command queue (even with 4,6,or even 20 cores...). Try using Game Booster to turn off any unnecessary background processes before running the game.

     

    Fourth, are you on the newest nVidia drivers? If not update them; if so, try out ENBseries AntiFreeze v0096. It's solely a bugfix on the driver level that helps prevent issues hard coded into Skyrim itself. Boris also does a lot of Post Processing work with newer versions of ENBseries while trying to keep it as stable as possible. So, if you're interested in enhancing the overall look of the game newer versions are available on Boris's site and here on the Nexus and there's even hand-made configs of ENBseries (Confident ENB, Superl3 ENB) available here on the Nexus.

    Yea that all sounds nice and fancy but it's not tru "your first line sorry"your computer will read the files faster and it's the only way to stop the CTD trust me it's just gonna take up a couple of gigs bro, and second, some mods require you to unpack them like in Oblivion, it will not hurt or effect your game in any way it may even run faster ask the thousands of players that had to do this, I wouldn't even be able to play at all right now if I didn't do that, it's the textures you shouldn't unpack, meshes are fine. And one more thing , some players even with all the updates still get crashes and this is the only sure fix . If your worried backup your data folder first, oh and sorry I don't think it actualy unpacks all of them anyway. Sorry I keep forgetting to add stuff It also fixes other problems to. Anyway it worked fine for me and BTW I figerd out my problem.
