Hi, I'm completely new to modding oblivion and this has been my experience so far: :wallbash: I'm trying to optimize vanilla with pyfft before installing any mods. However, my oblivion_optimize.bat doesn't do anything (steps below) but right clicking and choosing "optimize with pyfft" seems to work. Black box appears, text scroll through, and my meshes folder (from Knights.bsa) went from 7.71mb to 7.2mb. I'm using an account without admin privileges but i know the admin password. . . 1) Just wondering if that's an indication of some serious problem. 2) The mesh folder's decrease in size, that normal? 3) Anyone know what Qskope is and how it relates to pyffi? edit: 4) what does an "NIF accompanied by a EGM or TRI" look like? My stats: Oblivion : GotY edition with SI and Knights on c:/games me: no programming, command prompt, or modding experience. system: Vista Home 64 bit; intel duo core 2.8ghz w/ nvidia ge9600 pyfii 2.1.10.2c30444 w/ python 2.7 (both installed outside "programs" to avoid UAC) I'm using this as my guide: http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/414399-pyffi-for-the-bewildered/ I will give y'all a hug if i can start playing modded oblivion in less than a week  ----------------------------------------------- I use OBMM to extract knights.bsa to the "In" folder. The "In" folder now contains "meshes", "sound", and "textures". Then I right click run as admin "oblivion_optimize.bat". Commandprompt(?) pops up and says (which took ~2 sec): Running PyFFI optimize ... Done. Pass 2 -General optimization <filter 2>: running pyffi optimize ... Done. Pass 3 - Fixing texture paths: Running PyFFI fix_texturepath ... Done. You can close this window now. Nothing in "Out" folder.
