New PC for heavily (I mean HEAVILY) modded Skyrim 2014
MadWizard25 replied to eabbud's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Just a note regarding VRAM usage. With a heavily modded setup (360 plugins [some merged to get under 255 plugin limit], 600 mods), 1080p display, 1k exterior textures and normals and 2k textures and normals for everything else (via DDSopt), I use up 3.5GB VRAM on average, and can hit 4GB VRAM use in exteriors. Recorded via Skyrim Performance Monitor. Using ENBoost and Real Vision performance ENB. GTX 760 4GB OC. So yeah, get 4GB+ VRAM card, even if you have 1080p display. Honestly, Im actually surprised, I never though it would get that high, but there you go. If you play with 4k textures, and/ or have a screen resolution higher than 1080p 4GB VRAM aint gonna cut it, at least in my experience. -
New PC for heavily (I mean HEAVILY) modded Skyrim 2014

You need 3 things. A powerful CPU for scripts, shadows, AI, etc. OC to 4GHz is fine. Sandy/ Ivy or Haswell i5 or i7 will be fine for this. An SSD, for fast loading screens and reduced stutter. A gtx 600 or 700 series with 3 to 4GB VRAM. 2GB is not enough for a heavily modded skyrim with all the eye candy. Dont know the equivalent in AMD. Seriously consider gtx series 700 or higher with 4GB VRAM if screen resolution is higher than 1080p. -
Great :) Enjoy the game (or modding it)!

Yep, sounds like something is missing. Download a mod called RefSkope (read the instructions!), which will let you analyze the actor in game to see where its getting resources from. For example, the semi invisible actor may point to oblivion.esm as well as someothermod.esm. This will help you narrow down which mod is causing the issue :)

It may be that you have corrupted the games shaders. You can download the original shaders from here Also make sure you are using Archive Invalidation. I dont use OBMM so im not sure where that option is, but you can google it. If that does not help you will probably need to resintall oblivion.

Feel like I miss some patch
MadWizard25 replied to Timarot's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
The only thing i can see is that you are using Living Economy. Thats old and buggy and outdated. I highly recommend Enhanced Economy if you are using OOO. I would also recommend using Oblivion Stutter Removal. It helps make the game much more stable if you use a lot of mods. Download the latest Tripple-WIP version and make sure you enable heap replacement mode, and use iHeapAlgorithm 6 and iHeapSize 1024. Just make sure to carefully read Oblivion Stutter Remover's readmes :) -
FPS Questions related to BC Waterfront and RAEVWD
MadWizard25 replied to geraintwd's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Ive been testing out ENBoost more thoroughly recently. I dont think it helps either. Theoretically it allows the game to play past the 3.8GB RAM limit on x64 systems, and has been designed to work with Fallout 3. It is not designed to boost FPS but rather does some RAM VRAM trickery to avoid RAM limits. I assumed it would work with Oblivion since Fallout 3 and Oblivion use the same game engine but it seems not. It activates with Oblivion, but does not seem to help. My game seems to crash once it gets close to 4GB RAM use, which is usually between 1 - 2h depending on what im doing in game. I suspect I may have a memory leak; this happens sometimes on heavily modded set ups. In terms of the save game issues. Are you using any mods like kurtees CleanUp? Stable saves for me is manually saving frequently, never overwriting saves. I also use CleanUp, Actor Animation fixer and Wrye Bashes clean bloat and update NPC options. This seems to create the most stable save games for me.- 23 replies

FPS Questions related to BC Waterfront and RAEVWD
MadWizard25 replied to geraintwd's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Mmmm yes, I was getting the same crashes just before weye after the IC bridge. Regarding OSR, I was referring to iHeapAlgorithm set at 6. I cant seem to find this iHeapmode setting in OSR? Which OSR are you using? I recommend the Tripple_WIP_4-1-26 version. You need to make sure that heap managment is turned on in the OSR ini with; bReplaceHeap = 1 which is under the Master section. Heap management depends on iHeapAlgorithm and iHeapSize, these are my settings (6 and 1024 respectively) In my experience, only iHeapAlgorithm 5 and 6 are stable. And yeah, anything over 1024 iHeapSize is very CTD prone, ive never seen anything higher than that :) Also you can play around with this value. Some people report better stabilty with settings somewhere between 512 and 1024. 768 is a good one to try. Streampurge setting should also not be extreme high or low; 4 is the best setting for stability. uGrids 7 will be very very difficult to get working on a heavily modded setup. It screws with physics and pathing as well, so even if you get it stable, the bugs that appear make it not worth it. Also remember to drop ugriddistantcount to somewhere between 15 to 20 if useing RAEVWD, or use streamsight with correct fog values. Hope this helps!- 23 replies

Archive Invalidation is a must, hope you can get that to work, otherwise its a pain in the ass process of modifying the oblivion.ini Just to clarify, what do you mean by the default ini? The one in the Oblivion game folder right? It sounds like your modifying the right one (documents folder), but I need to be sure  Im curious because technically you dont need to modify the oblivion.ini to load new mods, unless they are UI mods or you do the manual archive invalidation. Apart from that it could be a load order issue. Im pretty sure you cannot run BOSS due to cider wrapper, which is a problem since BOSS is almost 100% necessary to properly order your mod load list. A workaround would be download the BOSS masterlist.txt and search for each .esp using a text editors find function, then manually order the mods in the Oblivion Launcher in the order they appear in the masterlist.txt. Finally, since it sounds like your relatively new to modding Oblivion, I would highly recommend reading the TESCOSI website. Its probably the most up to date and complete guide for modding Oblivion, and is an immense help, even to experienced modders. It also easy to read and understand  And yeah, if you cant use OBSE, you will be forced to use old mods. Which have a higher likely hood of problems

Glad to hear you got a somewhat fix :) Sorry I couldnt be of more help, but I guess cider wrapper would be the root of some problems. Pretty much all mods are designed around windows unfortunately

"Retroactive" Health Mod Creation Help
MadWizard25 replied to kravansh's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
The construction site itself does feature a lot of broken links. However, I recommend use the official bethesda Construction Set forum. The site and forum are two different resources. Most mod/ script creation questions get answered there, its where most of the oblivion modding experts check in. -

FPS Questions related to BC Waterfront and RAEVWD
MadWizard25 replied to geraintwd's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Ah well, i assumed clock speed would help the most. I guess its just the game engine then. I run at 3.2GHz with an i5 2400. Since you dont stutter, and I do, perhaps your higher clock speed helps with that. I have however managed to eliminate frequent CTDs with FCOM UL BC and Really AEVWD. I only get the odd interior-exterior transition crash. I was getting the same crashes as you; frequent around Imperial Isle as well as other exterior areas. One source of crash was me forgetting to re-run the UL Compatibility Patches wizard (i use Wrye Bash) when adding/ removing mods. I assume your running OSR, which is what helped me the most. I used iHeap 1024 and IHeapAlgorithm 6. Worked wonders. I also was getting land tears, which I read somewhere could cause exterior CTDs. I used TES4LODGen + Land Magic + TES4LL to fix those. I also use a mostly default oblivion.ini. No core/ threading/ iPreload/ uGrids tweaks. Tried a lot of tweaks and most did nothing and some were causes of CTDs. Other than that, I get low IC waterfront fps, no matter what ive done (FPS patch+limit AI in BC as well as Bashed Patch), but at least it doesnt crash. Hope this helps.- 23 replies

Odd. To be honest im a windows user, so I cant be sure if this is a problem due to cider wrapper. Which oblivion.ini did you edit for the fonts? Sometimes there are multiple versions. The correct one is in My Documents/ Games in windows. Wouldnt know how that is on the mac. Another question is did you download the 7z archive version of the mod, or the omod version? You could have also now have a bad install. How many times have you tried to reinstall/ deinstall the mod? And are you using any mod install utilities like Oblivion Mod Manager, or Wrye Bash (not sure if you can use these on the mac)?

Armor invisibility issue
MadWizard25 replied to BloodLordian's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Ah, i may not have been clear. You dont want to merge the textures and meshes folders. Never do that. I meant you should be placing the mods meshes and textures folders into oblivions Data folder. If you check oblivions data folder, inside you will see a textures and meshes folder. This is how it should be. Mods that have texture and meshes folders will work great if you drag the mods textures and meshes folders into Oblivions data folder. Data --- Meshes --- Textures Unfortunately the above is a "best case scenario" and it actually really depends on the folder architecture of the mod. For example (when you open the mods winrar file); x.esp x.esm Textures Meshes is a good example of a mod folder structure. If you drop this into Oblivions data folder it should work fine. Now the tricky part is that some mods do not come structured in this way. I have no idea if the chest mod you are using is properly structured. In some cases, you have multiple folders to choose from for the mod, and you have to pick/ sort one and delete the rest. Even more confusing is that some mods come in omod format for OBMM, or BAIN format with/ without install scripts for Wrye Bash. An example of a bad mod structure; x.esp 1024x1024 folder 2048x2048 folder In this case you have to check inside each folder, see if they contain meshes or textures. Then pick the resolution you want, and only extract the folders from that resolution folder. ---------- This is why unless you know what you are doing, and are intimately familiar with all the variations of mod structures, you can get easily confused and end up with a bad install. Unfortunately, WB is easiest if you know how to use it. If you have never used it before its quite a lot to learn. It is the most complete installer for oblivion mods, but has a lot of options. I say 'easier' because it reports if mods are corrupt, or have missing files, bad installs, or are conflicting with other mods and files. But to understand that means learning Wrye Bash. And thats not so easy  Takes a little bit of time. Its not technically difficult or anything, its just a lot of information and options to learn. I would really really recommend reading this guide. It a well written guide on exactly this situation, and can teach you about folder/ file structures for oblivion (as well as many many other guides). It also has guides for OBMM and Wrye Bash (BAIN) if you look on the left side menu. And no, do not use NMM, it has problems with oblivion installs. Hope this helps  -
Armor invisibility issue
MadWizard25 replied to BloodLordian's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Well thats a new one, never heard of mod installations being done that way. As far as I know OBMM can install mods if their file architecture matches Oblivions. No need to omod the esp and then manually install textures/ meshes. But its been a while since i used OBMM, so I may not be correct. Wrye Bash is much easier than OBMM imo. In any case, I would recommend re-installing the mod the way you normally do it. If that does not work, use Wrye Bash to install. No need to turn anything into an omod, and WB can tell you if your missing files or if the mod is corrupt etc. Ok, normally you shouldnt have to rename folders. There is only 1 texture and mesh folder in Oblivion/ Data. The mod files should go into these folders. Im not really clear on what you mean here :/ -
Try asking this in the official Bethesda oblivion forums. There is a sub forum for the construction set, and your much more likely to get a response there.

Firstly use CCleaner to scan and fix your registry. Secondly, run the Oblivion Launcher (not the game!). This should regenerate the registry keys.

Francescos Creatures and Items - V5 manual install
MadWizard25 replied to bill2505's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
Yes, but I wouldnt recommend it unless you are very familiar with oblivion and mod file/ folder architecture. Essentially if you are new to modding I would say no, and recommend you to use OBMM or Wrye Bash. -
FPS Questions related to BC Waterfront and RAEVWD
MadWizard25 replied to geraintwd's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
No problem Mr. Ninja, glad I could help :) I too am still plagued by stutters. And ive spent a long time trying to eliminate them, without success. I can live with it though, It only happens when new cells are being loaded in heavily modded areas (LOD as you said), and once its loaded the stutters are gone. Interiors are stutter free. I have a feeling that having a good CPU might help reduce this, since the game is so CPU dependent. A Haswell at 4.5GHz would be interesting to test on.- 23 replies

It would come from the Oblivion - Mesh.bsa file. Nirnroots are vanilla oblivion plants. Which means you either have a bad vanilla oblivion install, or, more likely, one of the mods does indeed replace the nirnroot mesh. If its a mod issue, its probably a bad mod install. How are you installing your mods? You can use a mod such as RefSkope to check where the nirnroot is supposed to get its meshes from. If its vanilla it will show oblivion.esm, if its a mod it should tell you which mod. This should let you know if its a bad oblivion install, or a bad mod install.
-
If you go to the Darnified UI nexus page, then there are instructions on how to avoid this issue. Basically, Darnified UI needs custom fonts. In your case, oblivion is not using those custom fonts because you have not told it to do so. To make oblivion access these fonts, you need to edit the oblivion.ini file under the [Fonts] section. See the spoiler below for the instructions.

Armor invisibility issue
MadWizard25 replied to BloodLordian's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
That means your missing meshes for the mod. The usual reasons for this are a corrupt mod download, or a bad mod install. If you know which mod the chest is supposed to be from, I would recommend uninstalling it and reinstalling it. If that does not work, try to download the mod again and reinstall. If you dont know which mod is causing it, then you can use a mod called RefSkope to check the chest and get a report on which mod the textures should be from. May I ask how your are installing mods? Are you opening the .rar/ .zip/ .7zip file and dropping the files into your Oblivion data folder? I ask because that would be a manual install. And unless you really know what you are doing then thats not a good idea. A lot of mods are not packaged well and their file structure does not match Oblivions, and dragging and dropping these mod files wont work. I would recommend using Oblivion Mod Manager or Wrye Bash to install mods. This way you can keep track of mods, see where there are conflicts, and see where mods are badly installed or overriding each other. -
FPS Questions related to BC Waterfront and RAEVWD
MadWizard25 replied to geraintwd's topic in Oblivion's Mod troubleshooting
I think its hard to compare Skyrim and Oblivion this way. Oblivion just isnt optimized for modern CPUs, GPUs, and RAM. You could have a gtx titan and still have issues. I too own Skyrim and with just eye candy mods activated it looks amazing and is stable. Yet Oblivion doesn't look as good and isnt as stable. The problem with streamsave is it still autosaves for you. Any autosave, even from mods is playing with fire. Streamsave may be better than vanilla, but manual non-overwrite saves are still the way to go. But then again im risk averse :)- 23 replies
