The Dwemer books are my favorites. Also any journals and such that really make the missions more intriguing/intense. You don't have to read every single book you come across to have fun with the game, but the books in this game(and every other Elder Scrolls game) really do add to the lore of the game. I rarely regret reading a book I come across.

Yeah, I need some Orc blood too. Not too many of them in Skyrim.

I agree with every point you made. Mammoths AND Giants > Dragons. Lol. It's quite sad, really. And why can't I ride a dragon around skyrim? Honestly don't get the whole dragon emphasis and then the lack of cool dragon aspects in the game. Whenever I see a random dragon I try to run away because they are boring to fight..."Oh wait one sec while I equip dragonrend." Or they circle the sky in and out of view for a few minutes to annoy you. Would be cool if they would have put more dragons in as final dungeon bosses with a ton of phat loot(we all know that dragons love loot!). The Dragons simply lost their "epicness" from very early on in the game. :(

Is it possible to be a pure caster????

I agree with comments saying that the max destruction spells just aren't there. And you're right...it's disappointing given that they were crazy powerful at the max levels in the past 2 elderscrolls. You could simply 1 or 2 shot everything. I still find it fun. It may actually be better! Instead of just 1 shoting everything to hell, you actually have to think a bit more. I was easily able to take down 2 mammoths and a giant at the same time by throwing casting a daedra and dual casting lightning bolt. Fight didn't take long at all. If I can do that as a pure mage, I don't think there's much of a problem with the build. I'm sure some mods will come out that will allow you to cast the "kill all" fireball. -
I have a couple of homes: College of Winterhold: + Really nice and spacious. + Regenerating alchemy elements - Annoying to get to from fast travel. WhiteRun: + Right next to fast travel + Right next to 3 vendors to unload gear and make coin + One of the nicest looking towns in the game - Small - Cluttered - No Enchantment maker :( 5k gold Markarth: + Really freaking nice + Lots of nice weapon mounts + Both alchemy and enchantments + 3 bookshelves compared to WhiteRun's 2 + Mannequin for displaying armor :) - Kinda away from fast travel(I mean who really wants to walk up those stairs?) 8k gold Currently all of my hoarding stuff is in WhiteRun, but I'm thinking of making the switch to Markarth because it will be much easier to organize there with the added bookcases, wall mounts, enchantments, extra cabinets, etc. I really like the city of WhiteRun though. :/

Do the NPCs interaction seem a little 'wooden' to you?

I agree with the OP. The animations in the game are poor in general. They are excellent given the scale of the game, but compared to linear games they are far behind the curve. The voice acting has made up for a lot of this. It's amazing aside from the times where a character will repeat the same lines over and over again as you walk by. I've noticed the lack of attention to character this time around as well. I especially think that your dialogue choices are extremely narrow in skyrim compared to other open ended RPGs and even to prior Elder Scrolls games(unless I'm not remembering them correctly). There were a ton of instances where I did not agree whatsoever with the 1 or 2 dialogue choices... -
This happened to me as well. The priest immediately started talking to me and my wife ran out of the Temple! Idk, maybe it was a greencard marriage? She has not returned to any of my houses. :(

Wait you can purchase that?...or are you talking about the sanguine item?

Enchant - Level it up quickly for essentially free spells Double casting stun perk - really helps you stay alive by making sure powerful enemies can't attack you Summoning - Let other creatures tank in those areas where you run into a few enemies at a time(companions can work as well) Restoration Tree- has a couple of magicka perks if you really need them. Do College quests first. These tend to provide quicker leveling/better items for mages. Yeah, it's totally possible. I'm a level 30 and have competed the main storyline, college, thieve's guild, and many other random quest lines without having any trouble. I've never used any weapon other than conjuring and destruction. Fist fighted for bar bets though. :P -
You can agree to what you want to agree with, meanwhile majority of people (like myself) are totally happy with the UI and are wondering why some people are pissed off about it. You are in the minority. The only way that poll is positive is if you weigh in controllers/consoles (because the game was only designed with controllers in mind). If you look at the UI from a Keyboard and Mouse standpoint, it's quite bad almost to the point of being unplayable. Luckily, the game is so freaking amazing that 50 hours in and I can only now start to forgive Bethesda...a little bit. I mean not even allowing remaps? Blah. Why couldn't they have adopted a traditional RPG interface with sorting options? I mean, finding your characters statistics even is ridiculously difficult. How much damage do your spells do? What's equipped? What are your current buffs? These things are NOT easily trackable at all in the current system. Look at WoW, DC Universe, Morrowind, basically ANY RPG UI system...They all have similar systems that exceed Skyrim's in pretty much every way possible. ^^^Yoken, that would be amazing. :)

You're telling me you stop everything you're doing whenever a new quest line is presented to you? I've seen people post or refer to their journal in help forums and it sounded similar to Oblivion or Morrowind. I don't have anything that is detailed in my journal. I have 1 sentence if it's misc. If not, it's like a sentence or 2 and an objective. Nothing really updates to help. Just trying to figure out if it's a PC issue, non issue, or what. It seems strange that they would leave it out. Maybe I'm stupid and it's buried somewhere in the menu system like everything seems to be for the PC UI. :/

Anyone?

I think you're right. I looked at the two branches and decided pretty quickly to go with atronarches. Plus, they look way cooler. :)
-
^^^yes, sadly. I find it pretty irritating that I can run around casting alteration spells and level but no destruction spells. I'm guessing some people would just sit there and level it up and all kill immediately though.
-
I initially thought the same, but decided to go with lightning for 2 reasons: 1) It looks freaking awesome and 2) It's final perk is really cool. Also, you can always cast an atronarch in the other desired element, or you can leave a perk or 2 open in case you really find that you need another element. I have yet to find a reason to branch into another element. Dual shockbolts with stun perk kills everything. Also, Go down the middle branch of the enchantment tree. You can eventually make it so that your destruction spells are free to cast ;)

So for the fellow PC users; have you been able to find out where the detailed quest logs are? I know they exist because I see people refer to journal entry quotes that I've never seen. If I press "J" I get a journal with very limited quest information. I have not found a way to see the detailed information. It's particularly frustrating with misc. quests because I have no idea what the quest is about with the one generic line of text they give me.

No, i'm pretty sure that you can level your skills independently. In other words: I think you can level everything to 100. Your perks are limited to 50 though, so use those wisely.

All I can say is: I miss Morrowind. :( The cities are all pretty bland, with very little diversity between any two cities. The culture of each city is done very well in this game and all of the cities really have that nordic feel to them, but I was hoping for at least one city to break the mold. Markath is a nice change of pace, but it's so dreary. I miss the craziness of running around Morrowind and happen chancing on the larger-than-life cities. Just had an epic feeling and gave the regions a unique identifier. I feel like you could plug x-skyrim city in spot y and you wouldn't notice. I guess that has a lot to do with fast traveling as well. :/ My favorite is WhiteRift or whatever it's called. The one in the middle of the map that looks like it's from LotR. Pretty city, nice people, house and merchants are all close to the fast travel point. :)

Are you trying to get sheer ultimate 1 shot or looking for better ways to survive? + Dual Casting with the stun perk = invincible in 1 on 1 situations. Just time attacks right and your opponent shouldn't get a shot off. + Get Enchantment(middle line) = Enchant Magika spell reduction cost on enough items = Free spells. :) + Sneak ability damage perks if you really want to get into kill shots. + For survival purposes, I find that conjuring up an atronarch helps a lot if I may get overran. Hahahaha about the buckets. :) They never know what hits them! :P
