Exact same thing happening to me. If Lydia takes things out of a chest for you, it seems to get those things flagged as stolen. Can anyone think of a remedy?

I have not done any cheats or console commands other than "qqq" in Skyrim on any character yet. Yesterday, while browsing vendors, one of them had an item called "Do Not Delete". I was curious, so I bought it and put it in my house. It looks like a chest but it doesn't allow any sort of interaction and it also doesn't clip with the rest of the world properly. Here is a screenshot. Any ideas how this could have happened? I hope my save game isn't corrupted... :/

I want to do some investigation of game mechanics and using cheat codes would make that easier. I sorta like the achievements and purity of my main character's save game though, and I don't want to muck with that. If I create a new game and use cheat codes in it, will my other save game be affected?
