Why has the mod update checker stopped working? I've clicked enable mod update warnings but still nothing shows up?

Not really a fan of Two-Handers on the back, in most films/tv shows swords are sheathed on the hip even if it's a two-hander. Haven't found a mod that does this yet, not even sure if it's possible or not (I'm not a modder) but has anyone ever seen one? Or is anyone perhaps is thinking of making one? Thanks
