  1. In order to get truth, you must punish them for lying, or even offer rewards for truthful information. That movie Zero Dark Thirty went into a bit of detail about how they broke some of those terrorists. My point is you could technically get viable intel by torturing, even if everything out of that said person's mouth isn't going to be the whole truth. If someone was going to hook my balls up to a car battery, I'd start telling them whatever they wanted to know. Vast majority of people would. I might call their bluff to see if they were serious, but I'd start talking before that wire makes contact with flesh. The line most people seem to draw as to what defines torture vs coerced interrogation is the difference between physical or mental abuse. They make the assumption that physical abuse is somehow more brutal. I say in both cases, its still torture, even though I'm not against using either method to get intelligence. I know its against the geneva convention to physically torture people, but a government like the US could do it, sweep it under the rug and get away with it. Then simply deny any accusations. The truth is behind a wall of classified material.
  2. I used CE to modify gold in DA:I, but I'm struggling to modify carrying capacity. I can find the text modifier, and changing it only changes the text for the number you see on the screen, its just that it doesn't let you carry up to that number. The problem in that game is finding pointers. Its beyond my knowledge with CE to find multi level pointers. I've looked at instructions on their website, unfortunately I can't even follow those instructions due to not having a clue about the words and acronyms they use to give the instructions. Its like trying to read gibberish. Maybe if someone could give instructions in plain, easy to understand English, then I could figure out how to find multi level pointers with CE.
  3. I got a cheat engine table for this game already, but as usual, some of the options work, and others don't. The carrying capacity modifier didn't work for me. I've tried to search and find the value myself, and I end up finding the text modifier. I can change it, but it only changes the number you see on the screen, and doesn't actually raise the capacity to the number you changed it to. I haven't had any luck searching for pointers in this game either, I suspect they're multi level pointers. Only reason I didn't put this under mod requests is this is something you could do without a traditional mod, and I'm looking for any way to modify the carry capacity to 999. If such a mod already exists, that would work also.
  4. It could be that the drivers aren't up to snuff for the 9XX series cards yet. Or it could be that the drivers aren't optimal for this GPU running this game. I'm happy with the performance of my 980, just not on this particular game. I hooked up a 1080p monitor and It does run maximum everything else except for MSAA (off) at 1080p resolution though. Consistent 60fps, with the occasional dip in the 45 range.
  5. If you got a low end GPU, turn tessellation off. Turn post processing to minimum or off. This game runs like garbage on my GTX 980 btw. I'm not getting the expected performance. I wasn't expecting to max the game out at 1440p, just really close to it. I have to lower several of the settings down considerably or completely off to get 60fps, and it still tanks down to 35 in spots. Had to turn MSAA completely off. turned tessallation down 1 notch, and also post processing down to medium. Could be a driver issue, or it could be this is another unoptimized garbage console port. Although I haven't experienced any of the crashing issues a lot of people said they were having. My old rig with a radeon 6970 in it runs this game better than I expected it would. Mid settings with some things turned to high, tessallation set to low (terrible GPU for tessallation), 45-60fps with occasional dips in the 30s, and 1080p resolution. Its also OC'd at 1050 core, stock is 880 core. Used to have 2 of them in crossfire. I could probably almost max the game out at 1080p with 2 of those in crossfire both OC'd to 1050 core. So it seems like GPUs in the mid to low end fair way better than higher end GPUs do.
  6. Apparently this game is about as stable as nitroglycerin http://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-Inquisition/Direct-X-Error-Crashes-Dragon-Age-Inquisition-To-Desktop-Details/td-p/4012577 Its a pretty widespead issue. Its one of the most broken games in recent history. Bioware is setting the new low for quality. Its absolutely inexcusible that they'd release games this broken. Did they even beta test this game? Any beta testing at all using PCs with a variety of specs would have found these issues. Do developers honestly do traditional beta testing anymore? Or do they just shovel off the beta versions on day 1 and let paying customers who expect a complete, working game suffer the frustrations of being a beta tester? If we're going to get broken games, they should at least tell us we're getting the beta version, and not 1.0. Anyone who was thinking about getting this game should wait for it to get out of beta, unless they're OK with suffering the frustrations of lost progress, or broken saves, etc. You don't wanna be that guy who has to upload your save file to see if anyone else on the internet can use it to get past the scene you're crashing at every time? I've seen several forums where people are asking for others to do that.
  7. After playing for 30-45 minutes or so, I start getting severe FPS drops even with a PC that effortlessly chews this game to pieces. Example, one spot I had dips as low as 35, restart the game, and in the same spot I'm back to being pegged at 60fps. With Vsynch off its 250+ fps, with my CPU actually being the bottleneck. Doesn't even use 50% of my GTX 980. The "peak" after 30 minutes of play was 48% usage, according to MSI afterburner, most of the time its around 25%.
  8. I use cheat engine a lot. My knowledge with CE is searching for and modifying stuff manually. I can't do stuff like make trainers or cheat tables, and I still have issues finding pointers in some games. I remember sitting down for an hour trying to follow their guide about making a lua script, and couldn't follow it. If you don't have a base of knowledge, you won't even understand most of what they're talking about.
  9. I'm talking about all the crashes and stability issues people are having with this game. I've heard everything from full PC lock ups that require a hard reset to DX errors, or CTDs with no errors showing up. Crashes during dialogue, cutscenes, menus, etc. As soon as they get around to fixing these problems, I'll probably get the game on sale. They still haven't fixed the memory leak in DAO, so I'm not really optimistic. Maybe there is hope for an "unofficial" patch for this game that fixes their scrub coding work.
  10. Because the technology is inefficient, its increadibly high maintenance, and in part the subsidies may involve them replacing a certain % of their already established methods of producing energy more efficiently through some other source like coal. its a huge money sink even with the subsidies. Either the technology is there, or it isn't. If the technology isn't good enough to compete with cheap, non-renewable sources and produce energy for a similar price, then its a terrible solution. We still got another 200+ years of coal reserves. We aren't gonna be running out of coal any time soon. I'm sure the technology will improve to the point where we'd never need to use coal again long before we use up our reserves. Some people are acting like we're in some sort of desperation to find a clean renewable source of energy. That isn't something us, or even our grandchildren are going to have to worry about. If there is any faith in humanity to be had, someone will have gotten an efficient nuclear fusion reactor up and running that would make solar and wind power look like some hipster fad from the 1990s that has gone way out of style.
  11. If they were to catch someone like the leader of ISIS, in which they know for 100% certainty has TONS of intel that could save many lives, I got no problems with not only water boarding, but even threatening to hook his nuts up to a car battery if he doesn't start talking quickly and truthfully.
  12. Climate change is being blown way out of proportion by leftists. Its gotten to the point where most people don't even take it seriously anymore. "Going green" means tripling or quadrupling your electric bill over using coal power. FYI, those giant windmill farms they got in some areas are just meat grinders for birds. They're also an eyesore on the landscape.
  13. Its simple, if the game is CPU bound, you'll hit a bottleneck. If its pretty well optimized, you wont. Unless you plan on gaming on a 4k resolution monitor, I don't know why you'd need SLI 980s. A single 980 just chews up any game @ 1440p. Especially if you overclock it. They're pretty good cards for overclocking, they got more head room than 780TIs. A lot of these crummy console port games are CPU bound, meaning the CPU does too much work that should have been offloaded to the GPU.
  14. Some of those games you might have to run in 800x600 resolution with a laptop like that. It could be the difference in running a game at playable frame rates, or not. If all else fails, try lowering the resolution. You might wanna try Path of Exile https://www.pathofexile.com/ Its a diablo type game, its free to download and play. You'd have to turn the settings down to bare minimum even on a game like that though. The game is a little more demanding than you might think for a 2D game due to the particle effects. For example, a bunch of stuff blowing up on the screen at the same time can even cause some higher end PCs to dip under 60fps. Just don't team with any people using lots of pets (like summoner builds). You can probably play Mount and Blade: Warband. But you'll have to lower the settings to minimum, and tinker around with maximum battle sizes (units on the map at the same time) and turn everything else down, or off. The rag doll effects of dead bodies can also cause lag, so set the number very low.
  15. That is what I heard. Either the encryption or the DRM method used by the game. From what I've seen, it looks like certain parts of the game have some measure of randomness in their generation, which could be a problem if this information is being re-written to game files instead of just RAM/Save data. Probably best to keep games like this off a SSD anyway, just because many of these games are fequently patched, modded, uninstalled/reinstalled, or just makes use of frequent auto-saving. Well, the pros are that nobody is gonna be pirating Dragon Age: Inquisition any time soon. I'd still prefer they figure out a way to do that without negatively impacting PC hardware.
  16. Respect goes both ways for me. If you're courteous and respectul to me, you'll always receive the same in return. But the ones who show no respect shall receive none, and deserve none. I'm also not somebody who will respect another simply because they have a rank or are an authority figure. I don't respect labels/titles.
  17. Most of the ones who voted Republican didn't do so for them to compromise with Obama. So the Republicans can safety stonewall Obama and not take very much political damage over it. Obama pretty much screwed the Democrats from getting someone elected president in 2016. They're going to be about as popular as Republicans were after 2 terms of Bush jr. Gruber spilling the beans has pretty much stuck a fork in Obamacare, its done. There is a new challenge up to the supreme court, because the federal goverment used statements and statistics from Gruber in their case for Obamacare in the Supreme court ruling. If it comes up again, its likely to be overturned thanks to Gruber opening his mouth. And Gruber was 100% correct about the American people. Most of them vote based purely on emotion. Whoever makes them feel warm and fuzzy inside....
  18. The one thing PC has over consoles, is a wider variety of indie games. PC will get the top indie games, simply because the royalties are cheaper, and Steam is friendlier to indie developers than MS and Sony are. And they also have the option of selling the game on their website and paying no royalties to anybody. A few interesting games coming out in the future: Kingdom Come: Deliverance Star Citizen No Man's Sky No man's sky is coming to PS4 as well, but the PC version is going to be vastly superior. Out of those 3, I'm the most interested in No Man's Sky. .Seems like a sandbox game similar to minecraft, except its far more complex. http://www.no-mans-sky.com/about/ The big AAA developers aren't innovating enough anymore. They're basically redoing stuff that has already been done, and done better by simply including polished up graphics. That isn't interesting to me. Seems like the only ones trying something different are the indie developers, and some of them are funded by kickstarters, like Kingdom Come: Deliverance. The AAA developers are going to go the way of the dinosaurs. They're too big, their games have too high of a development cost for what they deliver, and eventually they aren't going to be able to make a profit unless they sell 5 million+ copies of these games. Less and less people are willing to pay $60 for new games, and a lot of people wait and buy used for $20-30, or wait on a steam sale.
  19. There has been some sort of speculation going around that the type of encryption this game uses causes it to do an extreme amount of writes on your HDD/SSD, and that the game is very hard on SSDs which have a limited amount of writes. Has anyone confirmed 100% one way or another about this?
  20. Nothing is gonna change in the USA, do you know why Aurielius? Because Republicans/Conservatives have no balls. I've noticed a pattern of them frequently allowing leftists to move them off their positions with nothing but petty slander and labels. Primatology 101: The one who throws the most dung wins. This is why the left has been winning on most fronts. I'm never gonna vote Republican again unless they start showing they got the balls to stand their ground on their positions and refuse to back down.
  21. I'm skipping Dragon Age: Inquisition. It seems like its gonna be Dragon Age 2.5 from the research I've done about the game so far. And I'm not a huge fan of bioware here lately. I skipped Mass Effect 3, and have no plans to ever play the game, period. Same goes for DAI. Witcher 3 on the other hand looks very good, and I'm definitely gonna get that. Mount and Blade is a good game, but it has serious issues with stability for me. I've updated to the latest update, and the game still crashes periodically and with no mods. The game has been unplayable for me because of crashing. If I can't sit down and play for 30 minutes without the game crashing on me then that is my definition of unplayable.
  22. ^^ Comparing deadly diseases to poor lifestyle choices? That is about as ignorant of a comparison as I've seen anyone make.
  23. Tactics Ogre for PSP is a really good game. Definitely my favorite PSP game. The version on PSP is the best version of the game, and there is some extra stuff that aren't on the other systems. Extra dynamic to character development as well. Also post game is handled quite well in Tactics Ogre PSP, you got anchor points you can go back to in case you missed a certain character or quest. Some of the drops in certain story battles are also different if you're higher level, so going back to beat them again post game might reward you with a top tier spell, or piece of gear. Also, in the PSP version, some of the monster classes are quite useful with the new character development system. For example, hawkmen archers are awesome, and lizard men make pretty good melee fighters. Ghost mages are really good too. Each monster type has certain classes available, and some of them have unique classes not available to anything else that can be quite good. You can use dragons at the front lines, and with a rampart aura, they can prevent enemy melee from simply walking past them to get to your less durable characters. Dragons have crazy defenses across the board, and you can use them as sponge for attacks with proper positioning. If you don't know what Tactics Ogre is, its similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. I think its better, especially the PSP version. If you like Monster Hunter games, then Portable 3rd is one of the better ones. I still play it occasionally, but I'll do maybe 1 hunt before I put it back down, because the game is too taxing, the fights are too long, IMO. Some of these monsters if you kill them in 15 minutes, that is considered pretty decent. But most fights honestly drag out to the 25-30 minute range for me. If these were 5-10 minute fights, I'd enjoy the game more.
  24. IMO you aren't "PC master race" unless you got a PC that can max out Crysis 3 at 4k resolution and get 60fps. You'd need something of the magnitude of SLI Titan Zs ($3000 a piece) to do that. You'd probably be looking at an $8000 PC. So unless you're rocking that, then you're in no position to be snubbing your nose down at console gamers, and even if you are in that position, you'll still look like an ass for doing it.
  25. Why does the criterea for indentifying someone have to be based on who is White and who isn't? Seems divisive to me in times where people are trying to put race aside.
