  1. My eye is immediately drawn to the HD Texture Packs here. The only times I've had a clean install but still had consistent CTD's was when I had these installed. Not sure if it crashed right out of the gate, but still, I would recommend uninstalling them and seeing if that helps.
  2. The stuttering has been going on for awhile, but it seemed to get worse after I added Mart's Monster Mod. I believe that, for some reason, it may be conflicting with Francesco's Leveled Creatures and Items mod, even though both mods are supposed to be compatible, and, in fact, I have the version of Mart's Monster Mod installed that's supposed to work with Fran's. That's my only thought, but besides that, I can't think of anything. Thanks for trying to help though, I really appreciate it.
  3. Hmm... ok. That would all be well and good, but this happens pretty much from the moment I start the game, even if it's a new one. Also, I never used to have this problem with quicksaves and such. I have about 200 hours in now, and the game was stable until I hit about the 120 mark.
  4. No problem my friend. I ought to thank you as well. I didn't know about that Yuravica monster mod either. I'm going to add those into my current monster list as well. Could you find those pictures? Just based on the description and knowing past history with the four legged mods, I'd guess they were rips, but like I said, I'd need pictures to tell you for sure. Here's a few. This one is actually a bunch of two legged dragons: My link Here's the aquatic one: My link And here's the other one: My link
  5. Mostly I just quicksave. I don't do it too often, but probably 5 minutes or so, or whenever I remember, because it's crashed in the past and I've had to go back to saves I made hours ago. I use hard saves only for when I go to different characters.
  6. This save is relatively new, and no, I have not noticed any glitches with flames.
  7. Currently, I'm getting a lot of stuttering a crashing in my game. I use BOSS to organize my load order, but I'm pretty sure there's a conflict somewhere. My current mod list is thus (not in any order. Sorted with BOSS, all updated to current version) Alive Waters Alternative Start-Arrive by Ship Crowded Cities improved Crowded Roads Revamped High Resolution Faces for Robert's Male and Female MD Natural Faces Natural Environments Passive Mudcrabs Quiet Feet Francesco's Leveled Creatures and Items mod Martigen's Monster Mod Unofficial Oblivion Patch Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch HGEC Body Unique Landscapes Compilation The problem is that it keeps stuttering, sometimes severely, and then at occasional points it will start stuttering, and then just freeze, crash, and say "Oblivion has stopped working". Often when this happens, my mouse will have dissappeared and I'll have to Ctrl Alt Delete out and close it with task manager. It's just kind of annoying and I'd like to not have to save my game every five seconds.
  8. EDIT: Whoops, wrong place. Please delete.
  9. Actually, the loadscreens say their scales are reference to their power, not their age. "While all dragons are fearsome, some are more powerful than others. Brown and green-skinned dragons are generally weaker than their white or bronze-skinned cousins." True. However, names like "Elder Dragon" and "Ancient Dragon" still seem to support what Lachdonin was saying. Also, it is true that Alduin is at least somewhat older than every other dragon in existence.
  10. While the Dragon's breeding being a long slow process is probably true, it's also likely that the dragons can accelerate this process during times like this, when their numbers are in danger (they most likely didn't have enough time the last time they went extinct, as many of them were either killed, or simply retreated and hid) I'm not exactly sure. That was what I thought at first, but given that dragons WERE extinct (to some extent. I believe it's stated a dragon had been hiding under red mountain, Mirmulnir is, in fact, another dragon that had survived and hid, and Vulthoryol, of course, hid in Blackreach. The two dragons you meet in the Forgotten Vale have also likely been hiding, rather than having been resurrected.) it seems very unlikely that they could resurrect themselves. So I'm going to have to say that it's likely very very powerful dragons are able to resurrect others of their kind, but dragons themselves are not capable of resurrections. Another idea is that they are, in fact, capable of resurrection, but it takes a very long time. I could see it being like in the Percy Jackson series, where monsters can't actually be killed, but some of them won't reform for hundreds of years. It's possible that other forces that weren't seen also contributed to the death of the dragons. Possibly interference from a Daedric Prince (Two that could have reasons for aiding in the destruction of the dragons would be Molag Baal, in his quest for domination, or Mehrunes Dagon, possibly seeing them as a threat to his eventual scheme of the Oblivion Gates) The new expansion for Skyrim seems like it will be focusing more on dragon lore, as well as what it means to be dragonborn, so hopefully more answers will come out then.
  11. Again, I'm going with the myth of dragon divinity is just that, a myth. They are demigods, but not gods. The theory they do not reproduce was created by the dragons to protect the young ones. Two theories I have is that, as creatures of Akatosh, they are enough attuned to time to either accelerate their own aging process (and then use this affinity to remain immortal) or they hide their young in some secluded pocket of time, where they can grow up away from any who would wish them dead.
  12. It would be unlikely that the dragons would flee to Akavir. Akavir is the home of the blades, and has a penchant for Dragon-slaying. And I agree that Alduin did indeed revive his lieutenants, but perhaps not some other dragons. At the end of the Main Quest, there are a group of friendly dragons that are learning under Paarthurnax, and it's likely that these are part of a younger, less hostile generation.
  13. So, it's been bugging me more and more as I replay through the main quest of Skyrim, that, at several times, and in several pieces of lore, the Dragons are described as basically demigods. This is actually pretty cool, and I like that they're like that, but it does take away from some plausibility. For example: Their return. Alduin brought them back, but even if you assume that he travelled to other places in Tamriel, and possibly Akavir and beyond, it doesn't quite account for the influx of dragons that you see, even after Alduin's death. And also, that's assuming that he resurrected dragons indiscriminately. There have been a few dragons (such as Paarthurnax and Nafaalilargus) that have been benevolent or at least neutral towards humans. You will sometimes encounter dragons that just fly overhead and then leave, never having attacked you. Alduin would have no reason for resurrecting said dragons. It's been stated many times that dragons do not breed. Dragonlings from Daggerfall are simply overgrown lizards, so on, so on. But if you read the carvings on the way up High Hrothgar, it's a myth, one that fails to mention the fact that nords were not created in Skyrim, but took it from the Aldmer. Myth rooted in fact, but myth no less. So, it is my theory that dragons do in fact breed. Given the penchant for dragonslaying, however, it seems like it would be convenient for them to create misinformation that they don't. Dremora "interrogated" by the College have said that they always have been, which could easily mean the species, not every individual (Alduin and Paarthurnax are the oldest in any case) The other thing that's been bugging me. Which god are dragons associated with? Alduin and Paarthurnax are said to be sons of Akatosh, but it seems like Kynareth also has something to do with it. This is a lore thread, and again, just a theorizing one at that. It's not necessarily cannon, more like, creating explanations for lore that doesn't really make sense.
  14. Is there a mod that improves Dawnguard vampire faces and maybe dims or gets rid of the glowing eyes?
  15. I saw some Oblivion screenshots recently that had some dragons in them. Not the dragon mount one though. Both were four legged. One was reddish-black, with horns on it's face and looked kind of blocky, the other was almost aquatic looking. Blue with frills on the head.

I think you misinterpreted my post. While I'm certainly hoping it's good, I'm definitely not expecting that. I was merely saying I would like to see how they portray a previously only talked about creature, as I'm a huge fan of creature design (being something I may indeed want to do for a living eventually) so I'm always on the lookout for cool designs. The game doesn't have to be good for the Wamasus to look cool, that's all I was saying. Also, even if it's not great, anything Elder Scrolls is worth taking note of.

A Q&A for TESO was posted a little while ago. My link My favorite part of it was this: "I always imagine all of the nasty, poisonous creatures living in Black Marsh, and I think there's lots of potential there. Could you detail any of your favourite critters from Black Marsh? – By Brandon Donio If we had to pick just one, the huge reptilian wamasu that lurk in the deep swamps are a big favorite around the ZeniMax Online Studios dev office." Can't wait to see the Wamasu and how they're portrayed (so far in lore, they seem to be smaller cousins of the dragons, kind of like wyverns) so far the only Wamasu I know of to appear in any form in a TES game was Haynekhtnamet, whose fang could be found in Morrowind, and later in Skyrim, where he could be fought as part of a mod.
  18. Some of the music. It was perfect for exploring the world and I think Skyrim's music is a little worse. Weapon Types. I know Morrowind had a ridiculous amount of weapons, and that's cool, but Oblivion had way more weapons that Skyrim too. Whatever happened to Longswords and Shortswords, or all the cool named blades? (Blackwater Blade, that pirate one. There are a few that you can get from different vendors) Heck, just bring back shortswords and we'll be good to go. Feeling stealthy while sneaking with your sword. Skyrim, overall, has a better stealth feel, I think, but I really miss how while sneaking in Oblivion, if you pulled out your sword, you would kinda do this slow, quiet animation. It felt sneaky. In skyrim, you just tear the blade out of the sheathe with no regards to anyone hearing that. Overall, I miss environment variation. Skyrim has some beautiful environments, but for the most part, it's all variations on rocks and mountains. Plains with rocks and mountains in the distance, Icy coast with mountains, highlands with rocks all over. Oblivion had a giant forest, swamps, mountains, highlands, kind of a more rainforest/jungle-y thing down by blackmarsh. (Note on that last one, I'm pretty sure Skyrim actually has better environment variation, but Unique Landscapes has clouded my vision with it's awesomeness)
  19. Huh. Malborn always ends up getting killed to that frost troll for me. Kagrenzal is a very, very cool point that I actually found early. I actually didn't get around to Rorikstead until maybe 30-40 hours into the game.
  20. Yup. I did this right after I posted this topic. I figured out the problem, simply by going through and manually disabling individual mods and trying to run the game. It was a mod that I had installed before, so I'm not exactly sure what happened to it, I actually don't think that mod ever really worked, so I deleted it and it's all good now. Still a little weirded out by the way it just kind of stopped working, but it's not viruses. Perhaps I had accidentally uninstalled/reinstalled it, and that started some problems.
  21. So, I went to play Oblivion today. I had played it earlier today as well, in fact, I think this was within an hour of playing it before. Anyway, I don't even get to the Bethesda Logo. My screen just goes black, then it crashed. I've tried running without mods, reinstalling mods, changing the load order via BOSS, Doing a complete uninstall (uninstalling via steam, then deleting the Oblivion folder before reinstalling) I've tried everything, and it STILL will not work. I'm pissed and extremely frustrated, because it seriously worked like, an hour ago, and now it just doesn't. I didn't install any new mods or anything.
  22. If they're bringing spears and reiklings and all that back, could they also bring back devil and demon weapons? Gosh, I loved my Devil Spear
  23. That's good, right? Still have things to find! Wandering the world in Skyrim often pays off in unexpected ways. I heard that too but the foxes just have a defaultcreaturesandboxcurrentlocation4000 on them, meaning they will wander around in a radius of 4000 (and may be attracted to idle markers although they can't use them - not entirely sure how that flag works if you set it to true which it is but I suppose an idle marker within radius would get a higher "wander this way" priority), so I think any new place discovered by fox-following is just coincidental and less efficient than just wandering yourself. Although it's kind of fun to follow the little buggers around. Yeah, I was very surprised actually to see how many places you guys were mentioning that I just had no idea about. I honestly thought I had seen most of skyrim. Guess not.
  24. I have about 360 hours in Skyrim, and to be honest, I have no idea about maybe half of the places you're talking about. Interesting fact related to this. I heard a rumor a while back that the foxes and peaceful animals are programmed to take you to new places if you chase them. Can't verify it. As for points that took me really long to find... probably Embershard Mine. The one that's like, only a little ways off the path from Helgen/Riverwood and the Guardian Stones. I think I discovered it only on my third or fourth playthrough.
  25. There is mod to change that, it was called Giants or something like that. Not sure if u can get it anymore, its very old mod. I had it years ago. It added also giants and trolls and other creatures morrowind don't have. Creatures XI is the one I've been using. It's pretty awesome and adds a ton of new creatures, including a few herbivores, like the Kriin, and more Guars. My main annoyance right now is that wildlife doesn't display any hostility towards each other. For example, you can have a Nix Hound sitting right next to an Alit and they'll just stand around. It's kind of immersion breaking.
