You know, I live in Vegas and gambling is everywhere even in the sci-fiish post holocost rat pack era vegas that this games looks at and you dont have to gamble to advance the story so if you dont want to then dont. And anyway untill you get to freeside or the strip you dont see slot machines or roulette tables used for enything more than window setting, so other than the odd merchant who plays caravan its a non issue.

I learned very quickly to avoid rad scorps untill you have some AP ammo after that i two shot them. And if you stick to the roads you should be able to avoid them.

ive made some ammo so far and you do need to use the ammo bench, I had to make some armor piercing ammo, did it in good springs only place i found but im only about 9 hours in

But I really could see how some would feel they are being punished for exploring because it definatly leave to road at your own risk. case in pint is I was heading from Prim to Nipton at night and I saw this huge grren cloud and got curios and was abushed by centaurs and super mutants. Lol

Locations is a huge difference between Capital wasteland and New Vegas. Capital Wasteland is the rubble of a huge city, and much more densely populated that Southern Nevada . I live in Las Vegas and believe me outside of the valley there is not much out there, very barren and desolate. So I'm not surprised that there is a lot more empty space in New Vegas the FO3.

Actually the Devs don't really wan't you going north directly to Vegas thats why they put those super hard impossible to kill mobs there. Remember Sunny Smiles and Trudy in particular tell you Not to go north up I-15
