[Patch sequence question]

Dynamic patches created by SUM should be loaded after your bash patch. Create a new bash patch, then run SUM.

oh ok so i disable dynamic patches, run bashed patch, and then enable dynamic patches and run them?

You need to use SUM if you are going to be running multiple patchers.

Yeah, I am running sum, but my question is do I have to run bashed patch before or after those patches, and do they have to be loaded when i run bashed patch, and if bashed patch comes after - does it have to be loaded?

Hey guys! So I have ASIS, SkyReprocer and Dual Sheath Redux and I just wanted to know which do I have to run first, which second and which last? Like, do I run Bashed patch first, and if so, do I enable the ASIS, SkyRe and DualSheatReduxPatch eps's? And vice versa?

this new scripting systems works in mysterious ways haha i don't remember having that much headaches with oblivion (so far I've made like at least 10 topics about crashes and errors and what not >_< )

I tried removing some mods, but it doesn't work and I can't figure out which one causes the crash

hey, so um... I recently started a new game and I just installed some of my old mods, but now I have a CTD every time I load my save. I know it's a mod order issue, because all my mods are compatible with each other (I have patches and everything) so I could really use some help :sad:

[Question about removing mods]

First I would read the information the author of Moonpath provided. Authors often give specific instructions for uninstalling or will let you know the safety of going such.

 

Removing mods often leaves bits of data and scripts in your save games. I don't have this mod and don't know how much it puts into the game. it is a good idea to always make a save of your game prior to making any new mod installs just for this reason. Turning off a mod or deleting it can sometimes cause your saves to not work. I can not say if this will happen to you though someone may have better info for you.

 

i would however read the documentation of this mod and any others when installing or uninstalling. Good luck. :smile:

[Question about removing mods]

so someone suggested to me that I deactivate the Moonpath mod when I don't play it because it's a heavy mod and slows down the game, and I finished all the quests for it yesterday so I have no interest in it further - is it safe for me to deactivate it?

 

which brings me to my second question - I don't have saves without Moonpath being activated (I added it from the start of the game), but what if I load an older save where I haven't started following the mod quests and didn't go in that area?

will it be safer? or it's all the same?

You said you had started it. If you haven't, then deactivate it and reactivate it when you do want to play Moonpath.

 

EEO affects all elves, and thus if I put the cosmetic mods I have that affect single NPCs before it, it will overwrite them and cause some issues. By putting them after, they overwrite EEO and I get the NPC appearances I want.

also I just got another CTD and now I'm certain that opening the Kyr's Bounty item from the bandits that attack Eisa outside the crypt causes the crash, every time.

If you've started the quest, then continue with it, and deactivate Moonpath after. Better to deactivate stuff before you begin anything.

 

Cosmetic mods are mods that change an NPC's hair, makeup, warpaint, face shape...or all the above. They need to go below mods like AFT and EEO, else those mods may overwrite them, but BOSS puts pretty much all of the ones I've installed above those mods.

I've never played Moonpath, but pretty much every time it comes up in someone's BOSS log when someone's posting about issues, they always get told to only have it activated when playing it, not before and not after. So, I would assume it would be safe enough to do as recommended.

 

In my experience, BOSS has only ever been wrong about cosmetic mods in my load order (putting them before AFT, EEO etc.), and I have a pretty stable game.

what if I reload an older safe where, while it's still activated, i haven't started the quest? I activated it ever since i left Helgen and played a few days without following the quest, i just started following it yesterday... if I reload older saves where I didn't go there and get all the items and stuff will it be safer, or is it just the same? (I don't know why I assume you might know, though, I'm just looking for the safest way to do it, don't feel like starting a new game xD)

Clean the dirty mods - in my experience, they only improve matters, not make them worse. Do a Google search for 'Jeir tes5edit' to find my condensed version of the cleaning guide.

 

You should only have Moonpath and related plugins active when you're actually playing it, and to disable them after. It's a huge mod, and is known to cause issues if you run it all the time.

 

Bashed patch belongs before the Reproccer.esp, so let BOSS move it, as it's correct.

i tried searching for something similar, but i found nothing...

[need help with mod order (CTD's)]

Hello

 

so i recently updated a few mods and added ASIS

and ever since that I've been getting random crashes.

Skyrim was working fine up until then.

 

And on my wrye bash i get this

but when I run BOSS it says that everything is ok.
Since I know that BOSS can't always be trusted 100% i wanted to ask what's wrong with my mod order, what's causing things to crash?

also: I do understand that some mods are dirty but I'm afraid to clean them since sometimes cleaning only makes it worse, but if you think I should I will give it a shot.

Exactly what I plan to do right now. I removed and changed so many things that the game can't POSSIBLY be saved now... I will start a new game.

But the mod order problem still exists and before I start fresh I wanna fix it.

False-Flagged Plugins

Whether a mod plugin is a master file or a non-master file is dependent not on its file extension (.esp, .esm), but is instead decided by the value of a setting inside the plugin file, known as its master bit flag. Master files have this set to 1, and non-master files have it set to 0. However, because ESM is an acronym forElder Scrolls Master, and ESP is an acronym for Elder Scrolls Plugin (even for Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas), most people assume that master plugins are files with .esm extensions, while non-master plugins are files with .esp extensions.

This assumption is valid for the most part, as the vast majority of masters are .esm files, and the vast majority of plugins are .esp files. However, sometimes this is not the case. When a plugin has a .esm extension but has a master bit flag value of 0, or has an extension of .esp and a master bit flag value of 1, the plugin is said to be false-flagged, as its extension does not match its master bit flag value. False-flagged plugins are most common in Fallout 3 due to the use of FO3Edit's Master Update feature, which turns non-master plugins into false-flagged plugins, to avoid bugs that only manifest for non-master plugins.

The distinction between masters and non-masters is important for load order because the game will always load all masters before all non-masters, regardless of whether they are listed or dated (depending on your game) as such by the mechanism used to determine load order. Earlier versions of BOSS, and most if not all mod managers, put all .esm files before all .esp files, but failed to take into account the value of the master bit flag of plugins. As such, the load order they displayed was incorrect, as it failed to take into account the game always loading masters before plugins.

Since the master bit flag can be changed by users, it is not sufficient to update the masterlists to take into account the values of plugin master bit flags in the plugins available for download, as the user may have changed the master bit flag values (eg. using FO3Edit's Master Update). As such, BOSS instead checks that the masterlist used is ordering masters before non-masters, and moves any masters loading after non-masters so that they load before non-masters. If any masters are moved, it then displays a message in the BOSS Log to notify the user of this change. The BOSS Log does not detail which masters were moved.

 

So that may be telling you that you have an ESP loading above an ESM because of master bit flag, probably inserted by the author. If the author felt it needed to load as a master, presumably he did it for a reason. This is just saying the master bit isn't "normal" for that file type. Doesn't mean it's wrong.

 

I see. Well I will start a new game, this time I presume it will be more clean since I removed everything that everyone said I should remove (ERSO and some outdated mods). Hopefully this time I will not crash... and if I do... -sigh- it's back to the papers xD

That's useful. Does that happen in the same place every time, or is that 2-3 minutes, wherever you are or what you are doing?

No particular place, it just... crashes after a few minutes.

 

 

Also, note, this may be a no-win scenario. If you've removed a lot of ESPs, that alone might have introduced enough instability that there is no way forward with the current save.

I am starting to realize that :/

 

 

I played a character up to 25th level, adding and deleting mods, until I got a collection I thought I could live with. And then I started over from scratch with that collection. It's boring to follow the same path twice, bu removing a mod from a saved game is a quick path to instability.

Exactly what I plan to do right now. I removed and changed so many things that the game can't POSSIBLY be saved now... I will start a new game.

But the mod order problem still exists and before I start fresh I wanna fix it.

you've got a heap of mods which kind of overlap one another which is more than likely causing the crashes.

Drop the SOS mods, theyre part of COT i believe, look at trimming down your armour mods, surely you dont use them all, Jswords hasn't been updated in ages and i believe was created using old school stuff not the ck so conflicts and errors are bound to be found, nothing should be loaded above the unofficial skyrim, DG, DB patches (only esm's). don't know if ASIS, ACE and high level enemies work together, Dragonbone weapons i think is out of date and made redundant by Draginborn dlc, drop ERSO.

 

I think you might be killing Skyrim, especially with the limitaiton 1.9 introduced with the memory leak crap.

 

The thing is, if I had to drop any more mods I will have to start a new game, because the save games will become REALLY unstable, and I really don't wanna start a new game :/

But seeing as to how bad things are I think i might have to do jsut that...

I'm sorry, I know you're trying to help, i just wanna keep as much mods as possible since they are half of what I enjoy in skyrim :/

 

 

Don't manually sort the mods. Let BOSS do that for you. Use BUM and whatever guidelines you find for any that BOSS doesn't recognize. And, don't get mad at the game - If you ran it the way Bethesda wrote it, you'd have minimal problems. Instead, you wanted more so you started modding. This makes you a "Modder". Nothing wrong with that - all of us on the forum are, so we understand. But don't get frustrated. There are a lot of good tools available for us, and a lot of smart people who have suffered your pains and are willing to share their experiences. Just go slow, and save often.

INIs - Even if you didn't manually edit them, they have still changed due to settings you've chosen in the initial install, and during game. But I'd agree that if you haven't manually made changes, they probably aren't a problem. Unless some of your mods call for changes to the INIs.

 

Also, be patient. A perfectly modded game will still CTD on occasion. Mine is perfectly ordered, completely devoid of dirty edits, and has no deleted ESPs in the save I still crash a couple times a night. We're building a limo on a VW chassis, so there is going to be a cost.

 

I use Immerse Patrols and I consider it to be minimally risky. It adds, rather than subtracts or overwrites, and does so on a manageable scale.

 

RE: ERSO - I find that the more a mod changes, the less likely it is to work with other mods. Anything with the word "overhaul" in it should send up a warning sign. These things can really transform the game, but I'd leave them to the sort of people who can work through the inevitable conflicts.

I am now certain that it's a mod order problem, since

1. Boss tells me there are false-flagged mods and the order is wrong.

2. The game crashes 2-3 minutes after startup EVERY TIME

hey! I see you got immersive settlements. I've been having problems with CTD's since I installed this mod. I removed it because it causes helluva bugs altough its got nice looks. Most of my CTDs are gone now. Hope this help you.

Well, here's my problem: I HAVE NO FRIGGIN' IDEA WHAT TO DO
I am seriously at a downfall here because I have so many mods and I have little to NO knowledge on what a proper modlist should look like.(yes,I have been referred to proper mod order guides but I still don't get one thing from them, because I simply don't understand it :/ )

First question is:

What the heck does that mean and how do I find these false-flagged plugins?

Second question:
How should I arrange my mod order.
