  1. The best decapitation I had was in a fight against a random bandit, my horse was next to me, wailing away at the guy. Right as the decapitation scene hits, the horse comes in for a bite, the scene bugged a bit, and instead of me decapitating him, the horse seemed to bite the head off the bandit. Couldn't actually find the head, so who knows, maybe Frost is more evil than he looks...
  2. I'm getting in to more realistic gameplay, and a few of these suggestions are nice, but a few seem off. I can't really agree with only carrying one primary weapon, Roman soldiers would carry three spears, as well as a shield, sword, and possibly more beside. Only looting 1 pound items seems off too, there's always been delvers who'd go into ruins to gather what they can and sell it; if this is your intention upon entering a dungeon, why would this be prohibited? Adding to the rules, what about not moving to a location because you know a certain quest you want the reward of is there, until you hear rumors about it or have good reason to explore near there. As for fast travelling with horses, I'd generally not do so, unless it's in a situation where you travel between the same two places several times for a single quest, I've had this happen a few times, the game really is made to use fast travelling; and the map+journal, random quests on the other side of skyrim in the middle of nowhere without getting any real directions...
  3. At the moment, this will mostly be a discussion, I hope to be able to really get to work on a mod to implement my visions, but it'll have to wait for the CK of course. I finished the main quest line today and was surprised by how little there is of it. I'll be discussing spoilers, so don't read on if you're afraid of the story getting spoiled. I arrived at parthunaax already in possession of the elder scroll, so there was no need for me to go and get that before I could travel back in time. I got dragonrend, fought Alduin, heard i should go to Whiterun, went there, heard I should talk to parthunaax or the blades, decided to go to parthunaax, so back up the 7000 steps... only to hear I should go to Whiterun again and shout for Odahviing. Did that, and suddenly, I'm on my way to Sovngarde to take down Alduin. I'm aware of the fact that I could have done a load of sidequests, and certainly that's what I did in the part of the mainquest before what I just described, but I thought I'd sink my teeth into the main quest now, only to discover there wasn't that much for my teeth to sink in to. So I got to thinking on how the main quest could be expanded , the following things occurred to me: - There were too many shouts fully given as part of the main quest, as well as too many "gifts of knowledge." Unrelenting Force, a part of Whirlwind Sprint, Clear Skies, Dragon Rend, Odahviing, Fire Breath, all freebies. - At master difficulty, as melee the only challenge I had in dragon fights was dodging their breaths or stunning them with Unrelenting Force, until they landed and I could hack them into bits; Dragon Rend completely removes this and makes dragon fights trivial. - Despite the Greybeards saying Dragon Rend is a great evil and should not be used, there is no way to fight Alduin the first time without using it; a bit of a bitter pill to swallow for my honourable Nord. I'd love to make getting Clear Skies, Dragon Rend and Odahviing quests where you'd have to find the words of power hidden away somewhere (though preferably not a draugr infested dungeon, as we've got enough of those already.) Furthermore, I'd like for Dragon Rend to really cost something. My current thought is that it would cost a Dragon Soul to use the power, I've got near 30 doing nothing. Lastly, I'd like an alternative to using Dragon Rend at all, I'm not sure how this would work out, but being able to say, "No, I will not take the easy way if it means using something evil" would be great. A big problem I already see with expanding on the already existing plot is that the conversations would have to be changed and I don't think a completely different voice for Parthunaax or another character suddenly will really aid immersion...
  4. 2000g is a ridiculous price. The first person to bring a crimson nirnroot to the guy who was studying them got 1000g for that, though the guy said he'd have paid ten times that. I'm quite sure that an elder scroll is quite a bit more rare than a crimson nirnroot.
  5. I love the 8-bit main theme, though unfortunately some parts don't translate well to the simpler tones. it also feels like some parts could be cleaned a bit, though that might just be my shoddy earphones. That said, I'd love it if the rest of the soundtrack was translated as well. I'd do it myself if I had the know-how, there's something delightfully entrancing about this.
  6. Well, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but seeing as how you're not requesting the mod but merely wanting to discuss the possibilities, it could go here. As for your question, I'm afraid I can't answer that, I hope someone more knowledgeable will do so.
  7. Breezehome is the best house I've come across. There's two sacks in the cabinet right next to the door that you can use, as well as one on a plank, though this one is hard to target at times. Then there's the cabinet infront and to the left when you enter, the barrel under the stairs, the cabinet next to that, and a chest in the alchemy room. It's not perfect by far, and I'd love to be able to filter all the random crap.
  8. Some shouts are gamebreakingly powerful, others seem rather weak. If you don't think Fus Roh Dah is any good, you've probably not been placing them right. It's great for taking on a giant, or throwing mobs off a cliff, or just slamming them around to give you a second, or clear up some space. Furthermore, if you have a dragon hovering in front of you, a Fus Roh Dah to the face will stop him from using his breath attack. Fire breath is great for lots of low level mobs, skeletons just vaporize with one hit from fire breath. Elemental Fury is a "lol I win" button for dual wielding. Activate it and bam, anything in front of you is just dead. Reducing or removing the cooldown will have serious repercussions, Elemental Fury at the same time as Time Stop? Alduin would be dead in seconds...
  9. A 10 for giants? Once you have full unrelenting force, just blast them with that, quaff a potion if you want and bash them while they're down. I lost the fear of giants when I killed my first in a damage burst of a few seconds while it was scrambling to get up. Dragons are a b.tch to kill if you're melee and they don't land.
  10. Is it perhaps possible to bar people from using the same type of enchantment twice? You could wear two rings and any kind of armour you want, but not with the same enchantment effect.
  11. While I have no experience with modeling and such to add the buildings/people, I'd be willing to help anyone taking this on with writing. Names, backstories, additional quests, etc. Most work will have to wait for the CK, I presume.
  12. To build on several idea's already mentioned, Caravans, or farmers, could travel to a city and set up a marketplace, inside or outside the city walls, sell their wares for a while, and move on. You could have a meat vendor's stall one day, and the next, there's a man selling jewelry in the same place. Increasing the number of people in existing houses seems like a good idea, Skyrim isn't medieval europe, so it doesn't have to be the exact same, but familes could be a lot bigger. five or so children to a couple, as well as several generations living together in one house, could easily increase the number of people around in villages and the city. I'd say that not everyone needs to be a unique snowflake; John Fletcher, Royce Smith, Helgrid Tanner, simple names like that, and just a few standard phrases to them, without initiating the conversation window. Or even a script where kids are named after their parents, Bjorn Herrodsen, Alra Aerydottir...
