  1. I've donated to three authors, I can't afford a lot but I figure anything's welcome.
  2. I think there's a difference between Chesko and some of the others. He was caught up in all the stuff that went on under the NDA, and had the misfortune of both being a prominent modder and having to remove his mod over permission issues. You can't really fault his behaviour once it all kicked off (which was over a matter of a day) and I hope he returns to modding. The good side of all this is that it's focussed on the lack of donations for modders, for those that want them. People are more likely to donate now, and the decision is left in the hands of the author to allow them, and the users to want to make them, which is how it should be.
  3. Something that concerns me in principle is when a mod has rightfully gained recognition through endorsements and so forth on here, but has since been removed or changed to the extent that the original mod no longer exists on here. An example would be the realistic dragon textures. What we're left with is something that either relies on paid content or doesn't remotely match what all those endorsements were for. This isn't right.
  4. If somebody is using this site to promote a paid mod on Steam Workshop that isn't even available here (or only as a crippled version), I think it's very relevant. There are lots of other issues too that can't be so easily dismissed.
  5. I can see this is a very difficult situation for Dark0ne and that some aspects might conflict between what he personally feels is right and what is best for the site. Quite clearly, it is not in anyone's interest to get on the wrong side of Bethesda to the extent that they ban distribution of all unofficial mods to all of their games. I don't agree with some of the points, and I think it is overly defensive (perhaps not surprising given how heightened feelings are right now), but I certainly understand how unpleasant being in this position must be.
  6. Perhaps any mod that is no longer maintained here but is updated on Steam should be moved to a different section on the search results. I don't like how some mods like realistic textures aren't even available here any more, yet still show up with all their endorsements.
  7. In response to post #24599664. #24599799, #24599829, #24599839, #24599979, #24600139, #24600194, #24600244, #24600359, #24600494, #24600539, #24600884 are all replies on the same post. " Was this a risky, perhaps bold, thing to go ahead with? Yes. Was it a bit crappy of me? Also yes. But it was a risk I took, and the outcome was largely dependent on the FNIS author's reaction to the situation. He was not happy, so I took steps to resolve it. I did not "steal animations" or "steal content"" I don't agree with this at all. You cannot knowingly use someone else's work without permission for monetary profit and then call it a risk as to whether they would be happy with that or not. It's not his place to do that.
  8. In response to post #24595839. #24596394, #24596734, #24596949, #24597129, #24597184, #24597244 are all replies on the same post. If nothing else the Steam news may mean that authors here get more donations. I hadn't donated before, but I'm going to donate a little to several authors now.
  9. In response to post #24595839. #24596394, #24596734, #24596949 are all replies on the same post. Ah, found it. Thanks :) It's odd that it's nowhere on the mod page.
  10. In response to post #24595839. #24596394 is also a reply to the same post. The author mentions he accepts donations but I can't see any links at all for it. I might be being stupid.
  11. Donation stuff definitely needs reworking. I'm trying to donate a mod author and can't for the life of me find the place to do it.
