My character is a dark elf warrior but I use the Oblivion XP mod so I can be a jack of all trades with that mod I think. I want to do every single quest and quest line on this play through. I haven't committed any crimes yet (although I have 20+ assaults and over 300 items stolen according to the character records which is completely wrong haha) I think what I will do is all the fame gaining stuff first and then the infamy quest lines and then i'll do the pilgrimage last to wipe the infamy after I've done everything else. I'm not questing until level 30+ anyway so I get the best rewards. Yeah that is very true I can just use the mini game and bribe people into liking me haha so i'll do that then thanks for the quick reply!

Hey everyone. I was just wondering what is the best order in which to clear my infamy using the pilgrimage from Knights of the nine. I have two ways in mind and not sure which is best. Either to do the dark brotherhood and thieves guild first then clear my infamy and go on to fame gaining quests/quest lines or to do all the fame gaining quests/quest lines first then do the dark brotherhood and thieves guild and then clear my infamy. Seems like a silly question I know as the end result is most likely the same but i'm unsure as I know infamy can really affect disposition towards you and I wouldn't want a load of people being mad at me for doing the evil quest lines and then doing the good quest lines. When the infamy is cleared I assume that removes negative affects on disposition towards your character? Thanks :)

Ok cool thanks guys really appreciate your tips and tricks. Just had a a crash even after a fresh re-boot and 55 minute session so it seems i'm really not safe from the CTD it seems. I'll give the heap thing a try so thanks for that :) I have this weather mod http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/18305/? and when it crashed the forest was foggy and the frame rate dropped moments before the crash. Not sure if it has anything to do with the crash though.

I agree this game is very fussy. I've taken note of your advice to not overwrite or quicksave and it is very much appreciated :) Just to add to my above point. I played L4D2 and watched some stuff online and went to play Oblivion. Went into a cave and ran down a road and then crash. This time I was pleased it crashed and I know that sounds weird but it backed up my theory about other games or applications doing something to my RAM. They are being stored for some reason I assume. I shut down the PC. Waited a few minutes. Re-booted and then was able to play Oblivion for 100 minutes before I took a break from it. I'm now convinced that is the issue. Also having to play from a fresh re-boot isn't a massive inconvenience if it means I can enjoy the game without thinking "Better keep saving because a crash is going to happen any moment now!" Wow I must say I've never heard of coc Centre and wait trick before! Pleased to hear you found a fix for your CTD though and I will keep that fix in mind for when I finish the main quest and then I am plagued with CTD's! I agree the technical aspects of making Oblivion work certainly make it interesting. Thanks again!

I just managed a 142 minute session (Timed by Steam) without a crash. I'm now wondering if the crashing is dictated by what the computer does before or after. Oblivion was the first game I played today and had no issues. What I want to do is play a different game for a while and then see if a crash occurs when I boot Oblivion up later. If so then a fix might be to restart the PC before playing Oblivion to clear the RAM and make it the first thing I do. It'll be interesting to see.

Hey everyone :smile: I'm having some trouble with Oblivion crashing at seemingly random times and intervals and i'd like some help. My specs: AMD FX8350 8 core running at 4.0 GHZ GTX 680 4GB GPU 12GB RAM 500 GB hard drive 850W PSU Windows 7 64-bit system. I have the 4GB patch for the oblivion.exe enabled. I have streamline 3.1 running. I have OSR (Oblivion Stutter Remover) running. I tired weOCPS Crash prevention system but that however causes a crash when I attempt to sleep to level up using the Oblivion XP mod. I have done the DEP (Data Execution Prevention) thing to allow Oblivion to use as much memory as it needs. I have made a Bashed patch and used BOSS to sort my load order. I changed my ini setting to make better use of my CPU by changing the amount of cores and threads available. 8 cores and 64 threads. I feel I've tried everything humanly possible to stop these crashes and yet still they occur. It did say in Wyre Bash that some plugins may require cleaning with TES4Edit due to dirty edits and to my surprise all the dirty edits where done in official DLC! I can play for about 20 minutes to half an hour before a crash occurs. I'm also using the Steam GOTY Deluxe Edition. I use a lot of mods and I have looked through them all to try and find which one it could be and I can't work out which mod has done this. Basically the helgen dungeon is glitched and I pass through the floor in certain areas and I had to warp to Riverwood and use other codes to complete the tutorial. Also other forts seem affected. It happen after the update from bethesda. Has anyone else had this and if so what mod causes it? Thanks

I agree with njits completely. It's sad but I wasn't surprised when Nude Females became the most popular file when there are mods out there that really make the game better and the creators have put a lot of time and effort into them. No need for that type of thing in Skyrim. Just get some tissues and look up whatever floats your boat.

I loved the portable campsite in Oblivion and in Skyrim it would be epic and very immersive :D

I already have the swearing mud crabs and trolololo troll and they both make the game a lot more amusing and personally enjoyable. I have a few ideas for some sound packs :) Brian Blessed Bears would be awesome. Also his voice could work with dragons. GORDENS ALIVE! AVGN (Angry Video Game Nerd) as the throw voice shout. I have Barbas as my companion and I find myself in constant frustration with that damn dog. He is either pushing into me whilst in a conversation or he is constantly barking. Also when in caves I try to back up and that damn dog blocks the way so I can't retreat or get past him. It happens in door ways aswell and even when standing still he pushes into me. When I was sneaking once he pushed me off a ledge and I almost died from the drop. I am a mage character so I rely on his distracting the enemy to help me as I have high magicka but not high health. His tanking abilities are great as he doesn't lose health and he pulls all the aggro. He seems to be the most annoying but other companions can get in the way but they move if you run into them. Barbas however just sits there like an idiot and barks and looks at you whilst getting in the way >.< So I am putting in a request for a mod that makes it so Barbas can walk through you and you can walk through him. That means he won't be a pain anymore. I know it isn't realistic and may kill the atmosphere a little but the frustration kills the experience more. Thanks :)

Hey thanks for this it reverted me back to 1.1 but the CFF explorer program still won't work. It's a program I use to make Skyrim use more than 2GB of RAM. It just gives me an error now since the update and even now with 1.1 installed. I also use to have steam disabled by running the exe in admin and xp sp 3 but now if I do this I get caught in an endless loop and can't start the game. I can run the game with both being admin and using more than 2GB of RAM but then I can't store items in chests etc in game >.> This patch really screwed things up. I'm no computer wizard but if I was releasing a patch. I would test it first. I think it's time bethesda retired & sold the rights to TES to Rockstar as they make open world games that actually work. Bethesda + Steam = fail. All I want is to be able play the game in admin mode so steam is disabled and be able to make use of more than 2GB of RAM. Any ideas? Thanks :)
