Not crashing but over the last 10 or 15 days I've been getting lots of freezes and stutters during the first minute of loading up the game.

Yeah it's kind of a downer... Any music replacement would be cool. Even metal.

My idea would be to have thunderstorms that occur often, and during those storms plenty of zombies would spawn, even on the rooftops, including volatiles. Nighttime storms would be especially dangerous, so the loot and xp would be worth it. Combining this with gameplay enhancing mods like Parkour Tweaks (which enhances your parkour ability), would add much-needed tension and excitement into the game. In addition: things like faster loot box opening, grabbing loot from a farther distance (or even auto-looting - by just standing near the loot) would keep the action rolling.
