  1. Okay, I've ran into what I think might be an issue. I have the quest in my log, but the Unusual Gems have not turned into Stones of Barenziah and Vex no longer has the dialogue option. The problem I have, is that I made my way to the Ragged Flagon early on, way before joining the Thieves Guild and spoke to Vex. Now that I'm a full member, the option to appraise them just doesn't appear in her dialogue anymore. Reloading a previous save is just not on the cards, considering I'm now 250+ hours into my current game. I didn't think it would be such a f*#@ing issue, to be honest. I always forget how broken this game is, just by doing one thing ever-so-slightly out-of-order. Resetting the quest via console does nothing, and all I can do is advance the quest stages, none of which take me to a point where the Gems turn into the Stones.
  2. Meh, I never had an issue with them. Especially not on PC, that's what mods are for. But each to their own, and all that. I fixed it anyhow.
  3. After spending many levels wondering why I haven't come across anywhere being attacked by Vampires, I just found out that Bethesda sneaky-patched the removal of said attacks. Was it really that much of a problem? In the God-knows how many hours I spent on the 360, I can only recall ONE person ever dying from them. And NONE on the PC, have died whatsoever. Even if they did, and it happened to be somebody who remotely cared about, resurrect. Makes me wonder just how bad people must be at fighting and positioning, to warrant a drastic change such as this. It's ridiculously-simple to defeat them before they kill anybody of note. Put yourself in-between the Vampires and whoever they attack. Majority of the time, they are near the gates anyhow, where the Guards are. Job done. So, the main point of this post/whinge; Is there a mod that re-enables them? I've had a look, but I am often blind when it comes to searching for things on the Wide, Wide World of Web. EDIT: Ignore that. In typical fashion, I found it after posting (even though I was searching beforehand). Useless lol.
  4. I'm getting quite sick of the game and it's four-light-limit, making every place look sodding awful. Every time I turn around, lights turn on and off. I'm going to end up having a bloody seizure. Is there anything I can do to sort this out?
  5. Currently a modded-for-survival SSE. Although, the two major mods (Campfire and Frostfall) are awaiting updates, so it's just iNeed at the moment. Also dabbled recently with Starsector, a cool little Indie game. Spaceships, tactical gameplay, factions, loadouts. Plus, the modding community there is pretty damn good. Some of the factions people have made are outstanding. Mount & Blade: Warband gets a smashing-in, from time-to-time. Easily one of the best Indie games I have ever played. Spent hundreds of hours playing. Again, the modding community for Warband is damn good. There are some seriously high-quality mods out there. I'll spend an hour (or more) tweaking some of mods, tailoring a faction to my liking and such, then set out on my rise to glory and fame. Before getting into modding SSE, I was playing Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen (but for the Xbox 360, which I thought needed some love). Always thought it was a fantastic game, considering 1) how old it is and 2) it's obscurity compared to other popular RPGs. The Pawn system is fun to use. And overall the gameplay, especially the combat, is engaging. Definitely worth checking-out, if you like older, in-depth RPGs.
  6. Same problem for me as well. I'm currently fiddling with all of the settings, but to no avail.
  7. I really dislike the new layout, everything just looks wrong. The main page is alright, I guess, but the individual mod pages are atrocious. It actually feels like a chore to use. I don't see what is wrong with just tidying-up what was there before. Give it a new coat of paint, rather than re-arrange it all in this way. So will old.nexusmods eventually get removed permanently then? That will be a sad day, to be honest.
  8. Speaking of CTDs, I've had two in a relatively short amount of time. It's quite ridiculous, really. Such an unstable game, yet again. Had exactly the same issues with Skyrim (on PC), that forced me to just throw in the towel. Funny how I hardly ever have problems with any other games except for Fallout and The Elder Scrolls series. Both of which use the same engine. Coincidence? I think not. They really need to step-up their game for the next ones, ditch this awful engine and/or release a PC-specific version to get rid of all this limitations nonsense. Sometimes it feels like pissing against the wind lol. EDIT: That's five CTDs today and I'm done. Screw this game. The longer you play, the worse it gets. And nothing you do even makes the slightest bit of sodding difference. Wasted FAR too much time trying to sort this out and haven't even gotten to play properly. Goodbye Fallout 4. You're a load of s#*!.
  9. It's just the engine struggling with things. Have to remember FO4 was made for consoles first and ported to PC (as with most games nowadays). I'm running an i7, ROG Rampage V, 32GB RAM, GTX980, water-cooled, etc. and it will still CTD, especially in urban areas. Even after spending nearly a month tweaking files, making sure mods aren't conflicting and adjusting settings almost non-stop. There isn't a whole lot you can do about it, sadly. It's the engine's limitations and generally not your PC's. Courtesy of LordVukodlak. You could try adding this line to Fallout4.ini under the [General] section: iPreloadSizeLimit=8388608000 That number represents 8GB of your RAM. It's in Bytes, so if you need to make it smaller/larger, be sure to convert GB into Bytes before entering the value. Also, try reloading a save near where you were crashing. Head near the area, open the console and type "pcb" (without quotations). This is PurgeCellBuffer and will clear the game of any excess data, potentially helping with stutter and slowing-down of the game itself. Be warned, neither of those are guaranteed.
  10. Sure, it can be done. But whether somebody wants to take the time to do it, is another matter altogether. In the meantime, Homemaker has some of the same categories (Greenhouse, etc) and Snappy HouseKit is a good replacer for some of the brickwork. There are alternatives. Not sure there is anything for the Industrial bits though. Haven't seen one.
  11. Sorry, but how am I wrong? Opening that folder does take you to hard copies of all mods, that you can then copy/paste them into another folder for back-up. That's more what I was talking about. Also, my SnB (one main file, of all packs together) is still there, even though it's been removed from Nexus. No manual install, only use NMM.
  12. It's cool. Neither do I lol. Just know that many of the world objects such as cars, crates, etc. are part of the scenery. It's actually good for the game and much better method of world-building, rather than having thousands (or millions) of separate entities all over the map. Less objects = more stability (at least on paper). But this only really causes a bit of hassle when using Conquest, which has no control over any baked objects, only ones that can be scrapped with the removal mods. It's easier to find a better area with less junk around or try to incorporate it into your build. One thing I've done, is to get a map of all locations (there is one with just icons and no names somewhere, so you don't really ruin any surprises) and use a photo editing program (GIMP, Paint, paint.net, whichever) to plop down markers for potentially good spots for building with Conquest. Helps when you're looking for places.
  13. Thing is, LOOT isn't the "be all and end all" optimum load order. It can and will get things wrong sometimes. I've had it not even move mods that I recently added and needed to be near the top. I did see a post (not here, somewhere else) about the recommended load order but can't for the life of me find it. Have a search around for something like "fallout 4 recommended load order" and there was a forum post about where to put specific types of mods, all listed and separated-out. Haven't got time to look properly myself, half cooking and half procrastinating lol.
  14. Listing your specs might shed some light, perhaps? (people very rarely do)
  15. Most likely very time-consuming, given how much you would need to do to create a brand-new NPC companion. Especially seeing as the game has been out for ages and there is a distinct lack of companion mods. I'm sure llama could weigh-in with comments about how long the process is, if she notices this lol.
  16. Sunabouzu! Haven't seen that name in a long time. It's not that surprising, really. I would say it's quite niche. Rain Spider's gear would be pretty cool also, especially his clothing (under the cloak, as A full cloak like his would be a clipping nightmare) and custom carbine.
  17. That isn't any mod's fault. It's how Bethesda have made areas, to save on data. Certain items are "baked" into the area, meaning they are all one entity. You'll notice which are, if you open the console and try to select them. It will return a message with "non ref av object" and you can't select or manipulate it in any way. To do what you're asking, would require somebody to go through the entire map (or a particular area) to separate them. Which I guarantee, nobody would even bother. It would take a lifetime.
  18. NMM keeps hard copies of all mods you have downloaded. So long as you do not delete the mods yourself (either via NMM or moving them yourself to the Recycle Bin), they will still be there to reinstall. Open NMM and click on the blue-highlighted option and that is where they are all stored. Check the ones you want to keep are there. http://orig03.deviantart.net/4d49/f/2017/143/2/f/untitled_by_kevinflemming1982-dba7qqn.png
  19. This. If you've just uninstalled a mod and continued playing, you can and will often break your game. Always practice safe modding. Make a hard save prior to installed any and all mods, test it for a little while (i.e. don't play properly or do anything you aren't willing to lose). Then if it all works as intended, continue to play. If you don't like it, quit the game (I personally Alt-F4 out, as I've been having load-hanging issues when going back to the main menu) and load the save you made before installing the mod.
  20. Try rolling back your drivers to an older version (preferably the version you had when it worked) and see if it still does that.
  21. I'm a scout-type and use stealth. This is what I've found to be most efficient without having that (stupid) effect: Companions are okay to bring, if you can mod them. But your best bet would be to download Heather Casdin, if you do want a (female) companion. She has four levels in Sneak and doesn't affect the stealth meter. She can still be seen by enemies, in the right conditions (i.e. stood out in the open) but in the time I've used her, she has rarely given away position while in stealth. As for my own Sneak, just have up to Level 4. No more is needed. Combat Armour-wise, All Shadowed. Both legs have Muffled effect and the rest Ultra-Light. On both of us. Voila. Half-decent stealth gameplay. You have to remember though, this isn't really a stealth game so you can't expect too much from it.
  22. I turned Autosave off. Having experienced save bloat in Skyrim, that caused crashes and longer load times, this was the first thing I did in Fallout 4. Figured it would be the same, as it's essentially the same game mechanically.
  23. I'd love to use that, but I have weapon-altering mods already and removing them mid-game can have adverse effects (as with most mods) but it's on my list for the next time I decide to play, for sure.
  24. Hmm, that typically works for me. Is everything up-to-date? Drivers, game version, mods, etc. And how many saves do you have in that particular game? I've seen a suggestion to delete all but the most-recent three then try to load it again. Unsure if that actually works, just a thing I came across while searching the issue. Obviously back them up first, just in case. Another suggestion is to Alt-Tab and change the game's priority to High in Task Manager. Ctrl-Alt-Del > Task Manager > Details tab > Select Fallout4.exe, right-click and Set priority to High. Again, just something I've seen mentioned. Worth a try.
  25. Funny thing, I do have this on my gloves. But I can never tell how much it helps. Maybe I need to find a weapon with super low accuracy. If you have Stability on both arms and gloves, it can make quite a difference in scope sway early on. As for the .50 mods, it's a mod here on Nexus that increases the caliber's damage. So it affects all .50 weapons. Think the one I used was "Powerful .50" or something like that. Unsure if that's the actual name for it. Got so many mods lol.
