You have a hole in your floor.

To you and the other person above claiming I'm being impatient/unstealthy: I am using sneak. It's my highest skill and I sneak everywhere and always get the 3x critical. I still do crap damage
-
I have modified it at the grindstone, my Nightingale bow is upgraded to do 37 damage (originally 27). Also I have the Bow damage enchant on both my ring, neck and Dark Brotherhood hood. I still do absolutely s*** damage. Meanwhile enemy archers can kill me in about 4 shots.
-
How are you supposed to build a ranged character? Pretty much everything takes 6-10 shots to kill and why bother with archery if it takes so long to draw the damn bow back? I could kill 3 mobs with swords before I killed 1 with a bow. I'm level 19 I have my skills/perks as: L50 archery with all available perks. L60 Sneak with the perks on the right side up until the bonus sneak damage with a bow. L40 Alchemy with poison perks L40 enchanting with only the first perk (2 points in it). I'm using the Nightingale bow and Orcish arrows (the best type of arrow I can find in semi-large quantities) although I have a few glass arrows for harder mobs. I apply a 30dmg poison and get a sneak attack critical and it takes out less than 20% of a mobs hp, and after that I don't even get the sneak attack bonus so it goes downhill real fast. What am I doing wrong?

I forgot about Cicero...He was pretty amusing. I'd put him at #3 after Brynjolf.

What is your least favorite thing about Skyrim.
Drakhaoul replied to KennethKarl's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
When you're talking with an NPC about a quest/mission and another NPC (usually a guard) bumps into you and starts talking about how he took an arrow to the knee, and their voice is always louder than the NPC I was talking to so I can't hear what they're saying. Too lazy to turn subtitles on btw. -
Rofl well said

Haven't seen this type of thread yet so I decided I'd make one. Curious who you guys like as far as NPCs go, whether it be because they're funny, badass, or both. Personally my favorite is either Parthonaax or Brynjolf. I just like the way Parthonaax talks, he's just this super chill wise old dragon. Whereas Brynjolf is just...Brynjolf. What about the rest of you?

This. I keep hearing people complain that you can't drop quests in Skyrim (which by the way is the answer to your question OP - you can't), but I don't see what the big deal is, just ignore it. I mean if you have OCD or something and 30 lines of quests is threatening to give you a heart attack I guess I see where you're coming from, but otherwise why not just ignore the quests you don't want to do? I have like 12+ quests I accidentally picked up and have no intention of ever doing so I just don't pay attention to them.

Unique weapons in Skyrim are really lame...
Drakhaoul replied to Drakhaoul's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
Then why is it that every unique weapon I've found with the exception of the Blade of Woe is less effective than anything higher than Dwarven/Glass even after scaling? -
I'm an avid Fallout player and my two favorite things about the Fallout games are the near endless exploring you can do and collecting unique weapons. However the unique weapons -for the most part- go beyond simple collection items, they're generally quite good in specific situations, I generally have 4-5 unique weapons on me at any given time because they're better than normal weapons (again, for the most part). In Skyrim this just doesn't seem to be the case. Many of the unique weapons you come across are, to put it bluntly, pretty damn bad. Some of them have good effects (Chillrend is awesome, as is the Dagger from the Dagon quest chain) but their damage is total trash after you hit like level ~25 and start finding dwarven weapons. Basically every unique weapon in fallout have the damage stats slightly higher than steel weapons. There are some exceptions of course, like the unique elven bow you find on the Dark Brotherhood chain (and the dagger itself - which is probably the best unique weapon in the game) but generally speaking if you put any investment into Smithing you can make far better weapons than any unique you'll find in this game. And even if you ignore smithing (as I choose to do because I think it makes the game boring - never getting an upgrade) your unique weapons will still be crap compared to the stuff you find on the ground after level 25. There's two ways this could have been fixed: 1 - Allow you to disenchant unique weapons and gain their effects - like Chillrend - to be used on future weapons. 2 - Have the damage scale much better with the weapon skill associated with that weapon (1 handed, 2 handed, bow, etc) As it is now I've wound up selling every unique weapon I've found with the exception of Chillrend for the amazing effect, and the Blade of Woe because it's damage is actually comparable to a Daedric dagger. How do you guys feel about the unique weapon system in this game?

The cat part towards the beginning made me lol :)

Just out of curiosity I've been playing a pure thief character. What I mean by this is I don't ever kill, I steal EVERYTHING that I need. So far I've been able to complete a lot of the quests, the only ones that are truly impossible to do like this are the Dark Brotherhood ones and the main storyline quests - and you can still do some of them like this, just not all.
-
I agree. With everything. Skyrim is a great game and I don't for one second regret buying it, but it's not really that next step up sort of game. I like your ideas quite a bit, in fact I was playing an online game called Vindictus a few months ago - all in all I found it to be a rather bad game and got bored with it after a few weeks, but even it (a free-to-play, low budget game) had a very impressive destructible environment. It wasn't FULLY destructive but it was still impressive and fun - I feel that if a game like that could manage it then Bethesda could with ease. On a side note the most annoying thing about Skyrim to me is when I'm having a conversation with an NPC and a guard/townsfolk bumps into me and starts telling me about how they took an arrow to the knee, while I'm trying to listen to what my quest guy has to say.

Looking for an interesting --and fun-- character build
Drakhaoul replied to Drakhaoul's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
It's only one perk, and I guess with leveled and perked (just the poison tree) alchemy it will be much more deadly... Very strong opponents like bandit leaders and such, just slip paralyze poison and claw them to death :) Oooh I like that paralyzing idea...Alright I'm gonna go with this... Any idea if this build works at all if I stick with light armor and only use Heavy armor gloves for the Fists of Steel? It really sucks they don't have an unarmed tree because it just feels weird running around in full heavy armor to be a decent brawler. I'm disappointed in you Bethesda =\ -

Oh and Sick, do you find the poisoning perk to be worth it? I thought it looked cool so I grabbed it on my Thief so I could poison people via pickpocket, but the damage was very very mediocre. Granted my Alchemy was fairly low... -

I think I'm going to at least give it a shot for the hell of it. Thanks to the other people who commented, however I absolutely despise companions/minions. I never hire mercs or get followers, I just really hate the AI in most games and Skyrim is no exception. They'll blow my cover, step in front of arrows/spells, and just generally be more of a nuisance to me than the enemies themselves. Again thanks for the input but I'll stay away from followers. -
Plus if you had both the option to throw them as well as fight with them like you would a sword you'd have some pretty badass kill animations. Some of the sword/shield ones already look like they're straight out of 300, give me a spear and I'd really be a Spartan.

Anyone try an unarmed build? -
Well, Skyrim has been out for a month now and I'm starting to run out of things to try (or at least I think I am) so I've come to here some of your opinions on fun character builds. I generally go until about level 35 before I get bored and create a new character. Each character I try to do something different--both in build and in the quests I do. For example my first character was a Mage who I used to pretty much just follow the main story (he's the only character I've beaten the main quest line on), I played him as Heavy destruction/Conjuration. Next I leveled a Sword n Board warrior which was a ton of fun, with this one I did some of the main story along with the companion quests and a TON of open world exploring (I explored every single cave/tower/dungeon I came across and tried to find every word wall). The character I'm playing right now is my Thief, using predominately Sneak, Illusion, Alchemy, and a little one handed/bows. With this guy I completed the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood quest lines and I just started working on the Stormcloak line. The Dark Brotherhood and Thieves guild quests are by far my favorite stories in Skyrim so far - really enjoyed them. So now I'm looking for something else to try and I'm not really sure what I want to do. I was hoping someone could suggest a build they enjoyed for me to try out, note when I said build I don't mean give me exactly how many points you put in each perk tree, I just mean a rough description of your characters role (ie, sword n board warrior, destruction mage, etc). I was also hoping someone would be able to tell me some of their favorite quest lines/stories they followed because like I said I like to do something new on each character. So far I have the Companion quests, Winterhold College quests, thieves guild, dark brotherhood and Stormcloak (work in progress), so the only one I really know of off the top of my head is siding with the imperials - which I plan to do on the next character. So give me some ideas and opinions regarding your favorite characters and quests!
