  1. Work is going on. We are being hosted by Dark Creations and are a part of Beyond Skyrim. If you are interested in joining the Hammerfell team head here. High Rock is being done by a German team, and most of the other regions of Tamriel already have established teams working on them. Check it out.
  2. To continue on with Beyond Skyrim (what hangman was detailing), I am getting involved and am hoping to start up the Hammerfell team. If any of you are interested in joining, head over to the Dark Creations forums and voice your interest. From there we can determine a plan of action, starting small.
  3. I don't have your ideal answer, but best "workarounds" are to give them worse weapons or use less followers.
  4. Edit: There is now a Hammerfell team associated with Beyond Skyrim hosted on Dark Creations. Arturas, we'll need help with almost everything. Thankfully some of the grunt work has been done. 1. Beyond Skyrim just finished an entire Tamriel worldspace heightmap. There were problems incorporating Skyrim so you'll have to load to get into Skyrim, but the rest of Tamriel will be one worldspace. This will ensure that each team's work is compatible with every other team's. 2. Most involved have taken part in large-scale mods before. As for how we can accomplish it when we are all in different places, that is the most important issue. It will be a hobby, and no one will hold you accountable. It comes down to passion to making it happen and pride in work. That said, I am working on forming a way to divide the work. At first dividing it into regions probably won't work. Instead we should focus on resources. It'll come down to the World, Lore, Art, and Quests/Scripting. Within each of these we can develop new textures, meshes, etc. We can't just use Skyrim resources since they have the look and feel of Nord culture, not a Hammerfell desert. For those interested in joining the team to create Hammerfell, head here and voice your interest
  5. NO SIR! Crows are smart and they are the only things that can and will kill Bufo Toads! Yeah, don't kill crows, they're awesome. A lot of scientists consider them to be the smartest birds in the world. If they were that smart, they would move on to some place safer to them than my backyard. They've worked out you don't like them, they're smart, and have a dark sense of humour. Exactly, they're taunting you, unless you get a projectile weapon to kill them with, they know you won't be able to hurt them. I have nothing to add, I just wanted to see how all these quotes would look. Let's see how many quotes it takes before it breaks!!! :psyduck: Psyduck has a headache, c'mon just a few moew quotes to make his head explode Boom? Not yet... Yay quote pyramid! Nearly broken, the text formatting is starting to get real messy :D Hmm? http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/mellow.gif Ahh not at default zoom, my browser's at about 200% cos its on the living room tv I can still read the center post. Is it my turn to win yet? No one wins again until we break the quote system DIE QUOTES DIE! Ooo! Is this a kind of infatuation with, "The Broken End"? http://forums.nexusmods.com/public/style_emoticons/dark/happy.gif This thread seems to like breaking things, I wonder how many posts until we break the thread? What about smilies? Or videos? Or images? :O DESTROY! i win
  6. I am very interested. In fact, over the last week I have been compiling all the lore, art, concepts, and ideas that have surrounded Hammerfell in previous games/mods. They have left us with a lot of work to go off of and should make much of the process easier. I too don't have much modding experience but we should start somewhere, especially with something we are really interested in. As for how to start it off, the idea I like best is as a continuation of "In My Time of Need" the quest with Alik'r warriors looking for a Redguard woman in Whiterun. By the end whether you help her or them, you could be given, in addition to the reward, a letter/something that leads you to a group of Redguard in western Skyrim where you travel with them to Dragonstar. However you get there, I think beginning with Dragonstar would be best. It is near Skyrim, and the last mention of it in history had the west side of the city under Redguard control and the east side under Nord control. It may have been hundreds of years in the past, but it is an interesting concept and there is nothing to say that the situation has changed. So what do you say? Still interested? If we build it, they will come. tl;dr Sounds awesome, let's start with Dragonstar, who else is in?
  7. I second that, sorry I don't have any knowledge as to whether it can be done. I'd say that closest mod in principle (by what is being done and how they do it) are the aurora mods, you may ask them if they think it can be done.
  8. Perhaps I missed it, but is this meant to be a recreation of Morrowind as found in "Morrowind" or just the region in the Skyrim timeline.
  9. I am a part of the general consensus; The current system is exploitable and once you reach level 20, it becomes easy-mode. Sure, being powerful is nice, but when I run through every stage of the civil war without caring about my health and one-hitting everyone... and that is without exploiting smithing. (even changing the difficulty isn't a sufficient fix). Most importantly you said "over 9000" in your post.. nice. I agree with your suggestions, so I'll try and streamline what it seems has been suggested thus far and include my own extensions of your ideas Armor/Weaponry/Perks In addition to nerfing upgrades, making gear tiers more significant, and adjust smithing/enchanting/heavyarmor/weapon perks, I would make it harder to get smithing/enchanting recipes, either by making it so you have to do quests to learn forging recipes, or you must encounter gear and break it down in a forge (mods are being created to disassemble gear for components) to learn the recipe. As of now it is hard to believe that certain blacksmiths/mages in Skyrim are any better than others since all one needs to do to become the richest, most powerful warrior in Skyrim is to build 100s of iron daggers, enchant them with fear, sell them, and repeat. These concerns can be combined with other mod proposals and will have to be. Most urgent would be for a change in scaling and limiting the maximum potential. The other issues will be sorted out piece by piece, and the more I think about it the more it seems that this mod will have to end up as comprehensive as OOO.
  10. This sounds very interesting. All these ideas are incredible but the scope might be prohibitively intense. I am wondering if some things can be resolved. For instance, by incorporating important in-game characters could more text and voice acting be believable implemented? I suppose a new character could be added, but it might take away from the immersion that leaders don't mention the new missions. In fact, it might be better to scale down the contact with Ulfric or Tullius, to make it seem like you aren't privileged with extended contact. -edit- Thought of a solution. Add a new character as a direct courier and receive letters from Ulfric or another general. Get words from generals and a character to relay orders. -edit- It could be simplified with a system of resource management. You have a number of soldiers (scouts, soldiers, special ops, hunters, recruiters, etc) who can do a certain number of tasks (recon, defense, recruitment, raids, pillaging, ambush, etc) over a number of days (half a week or something). That way it is more defined and regimented. Depending on the task, soldiers become more skilled. As you do more missions and improve in rank and reputation, more people recruit, more funds are given, local villages, mines, etc provide resources, and you are given more opportunities to improve your camp and do more significant operations. You would shift from small scale harassment to the larger scale battles. While it is tempting to add even more scope; new followers, new weapons, new locations to name a few, it should definitely initially rely on just on redefining the civil war mechanics, characters, and outcomes. Once that is achieved, other aspects can be addressed. I hope that it is possible to implement such a system, maybe the creation kit will make it possible. I have never modded before but would be willing to do what I can to help if anyone out there is making this a reality.
