  1. bumping this with the hope that someone can drop some knowledge on me here .. :)
  2. especially because, with skyrim, my RAM literally is sitting there doing nothing. i never use more than a gig or two of system RAM and my GPU is working full throttle at or around 100% at all times
  3. i would love to be able to do this. a way to share system RAM as VRAM would be huge
  4. hey, so i've been able to replace a bunch of music in skyrim using the known method of unpacking the bsa and converting my new replacements from .wav into .xwm and copying the folder stucture into my Data folder etc. it's worked out great, i couldn't be happier only problem is some songs don't play. most of my replaced music plays correctly, however some never does. specifically mus_explore_day_06.xwm and others from the music/explore/ folder. i am very sure my filenames and formats are correct, and it's not a problem of bit depth or sample rate or anything with my original audio because all of the replacement music is from the same source, and most of it is playing. just not these few songs. it might be a problem with the whole /explore/ directory.. i can't tell for sure but i think perhaps none of my files in that directory are playing. i've read some people say they've had similar experiences. can anyone speak to this? is there a trick or something i'm not doing? anyone with experience swapping out .xwms and familiarity with the sounds.bsa, it'd be much appreciated. ooh, just had an idea- does anyone know a console command to switch music or play tracks? if i could force trigger it in-game it would at least answer my question of if the file will play or not. thx edit: i don't know much about archive invalidation. could that be involved ?
  5. i stupidly had Preemptively Unload Cells=1 in my .ini thinking it would be beneficial, made my game stutter like crazy. maybe not the same thing as what you're having though.. i too will get crazy slowdowns/stuttering when looking at something close, for example looking down at the ground while walking forwards or on stairs.
  6. thanks for the replies, all. i will give that .dll a try, though i have messed around w various d3d9's a bit and settled on one i liked (was generated by a program that detected my grapgics card, highly recommend) as for power plans, i have my power settings cranked in all the right places, i believe and no power-saving modes are enabled. there are options for that in the CCC and even in my BIOS for the processor, i have been careful to set everything to max performance where i'm able. and you're probably right on the money with textures- i didn't mention that i run Skyrim HD Textures (the LIGHT version at least), and i bet that's not helping my performance hehe. i will try to disable it and see what kind of changes i get, but i'm don't think i'll ever be able to go back to vanilla, the mod is that good! thanks again for the replies yall
  7. thanks for the reply. not sure what you mean exactly about underused.. here's a screenshot of system monitor snapped mid gameplay http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/51/systemuse.th.png Uploaded with ImageShack.us my gameplay is pretty smooth, to be honest, i can't complain too much. i just wish i could use enbseries without dropping into the low 20s to high 10s in fps. its a super current cpu (new laptop a few mo ago), assumed it was just a great processor and was doing its job well- and that the pretty low level 6400M card was my bottleneck.
  8. hi, i get decent performance on skyrim (mid 20s - 30fps) but not great, on my laptop using amd system monitor and other tools, however, i've found that my CPU handles it fine, usually sits at around 20% load and RAM is never a problem (skyrim seems to only use a gig or so at max(?), even w the laa updates etc) but my GPU is always maxed at 100% working hard can anyone point to mods, tips or .ini settings that specifically take the load off GPU? so many teaks and mods are focused at taking the load off CPU (which seems to be most people's bottleneck) i've got i7 2720QM @ 2.2GHZ processor and a AMD Radeon HD 6400M GPU, w 6gig RAM using skyboost and lots of .ini tweaks, and the latest 12.1a catalyst preview package. any thoughts are welcome, thanks
  9. i used amd system monitor (http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/amd-system-monitor/pages/overview.aspx) and alt-tab (or ctrl-alt-del) out of skyrim during heavy gameplay to check it. does a good job of showing system usage on simple view and you can expand each pane to see more indepth graphics card usage, individual cpu cores and ram usage. this should give you an idea of if your cpu or gpu is slowing you down ! it's allowed me to learn that my weak point is my Radeon HD 6450M card.. not sure if i can ugprade it, but at least i know my i7 chip is never breaking a sweat
  10. I would do this- create an OMOD in OBMM, select "add archive" and select the .RAR or .7z archive containing the vampire mod. Click "create", and then activate it when it shows up in OBMM it should tell you ___ file already exists but is not associated with an OMOD, overwrite? Say yes and keep saying yes to overwrite or control-click for "yes to all". This should associate all of the vampire mods files with this OMOD. . meaning once it's finished, you can de-activate the OMOD and all the incriminating files should deactivate with it. This has worked for me before.. You should really try using OBMM or even BAIN to install your mods rather than manually copying the files whenever possible to save these problems from happening band finally- use the vampire face fix in Wrye Bash! assuming that's what you were trying to do. Good luck
  11. the only thing i did out of the ordinary i think, was realizing these things weren't ticked i ticked them.. don't really know what they are • P1DCandles_Formids.csv • TI to Cobl_Formids.csv then it told me i was missing P1DcandlesForKleptos.esp which i thought was weird but i downloaded it, boss'd and rebuilt and that when it took 42minutes in the WryeBash help site, it says "rebuilding your bashed patch only takes a minute or so" how long does it normally take ya'll ? what did i do ? will it always take this long now ? thanks --i can post the contents of the bashed patch but i don't know how to make the SHOW/HIDE thing in this forum and i dont want to make my post a billion pages long
  12. i have this same problem. the OBGE menu does come up, the next time i load the game.. but yeah nothing happens after i close my inventory menu. very strange.
  13. apologies as i've asked this before, but didn't have a proper screenshot to illustrate my point my local map is obscured: http://img40.imageshack.us/i/screenshotyj.jpg/ i have darnified UI but even a reinstall doesn't clear this issue. i don't have any other mods that should be conflicting with this. any ideas ? thanks!
  14. I'll add that even enabling Admin privileges on the relevant folders and files won't do the trick, program files folder location has some weird windows things going on that only moving to a new directory will really solve. And uninstall wrye bash before you make the move. Reinstall after to the new location and you should be good.
