  1. Offline mode is not a solution. Some of us have other online-only steam games that we like to play. "Do not keep this game up-to-date" does not stick. Patches are clearly not being well tested. I have around 10 rl friends who purchased Skyrim. None of them are still playing. Three quit because they aren't really as into role-playing games as they think. The other seven of us are now unable to play because of 1.4.27. If 1.5 doesn't fix the issues, or if it is too long in the making, we might forget to come back. I mean that in a serious sense (not a silly e-drama sense). It has been a few weeks already, and eventually I'll just get into a book series re-read or something.
  2. A large number of people are having this problem since the 1.4.27 patch (the second 1.4 update). It does not appear to be mod related, as my game is also currently unplayable with or without mods.
  3. I'm betting most people starting having problems after the most recent 1.4 patch. I had NO issues until the patch a few days ago. Suddenly, I'm getting game freezes that require opening the task manager to close Skyrim. The crashes are always upon loading from one cell to another - I already have autosave on load disabled. The only autosave I have left on is the autosave on menu option. The crashes usually seem to be happening when loading from exterior to interior or back. They seriously need to eliminate incremental patches if they are spreading this level of instability with each one.
  4. These mods that are showing up all appear to be tagged properly. I don't really browse the newest or hot mods sections. Is it possible that changing the sorting of a search invalidates this feature? I usually sort by most downloaded, descending once my search is complete.
  5. I couldn't think of a better place to ask this question. Hopefully I've just overlooked something simple. There is a section of your Nexus profile where you can block certain tags. I would assume that this would block mods from appearing in a search that didn't include said blocked tag as a part of the search. Is this feature actually functional? I have yet to get it to work. I'm doing tag searches like "armor," "lore-friendly," and "realistic." I have "anime" and "sexy/skimpy" blocked. This blocked tags setting seems to persist properly, as it always shows when I go to that screen. However, I'm still getting search results full of mods that are already tagged "anime" or "sexy/skimpy." Anyone know what I'm missing? Please move to another section if it is more appropriate (wasn't sure whether to post here or feedback/questions).
  6. This is quite easily done if you are able to get to around 100 unmodified damage with that 1h weapon (including poisons and/or enchants). Of course, resists and armor will tame that 100 damage. Crank the difficulty up to master, and you'll want to consider other options (unless you're the stealthy type).
  7. Whiterun hold is your friend as an enchanter-in-training. You can fill petty soul gems with the souls of the following, all found in abundance in Whiterun hold: mudcrabs deer/elk wolves skeletons (low level) some draugr foxes rabbits (?) I personally stick to mudcrabs, wolves, and deer, while using my lesser soul gems on sabre cats and bears (not cave bears). You will spend less than 1/10 the time of your journey from level 1-30 on hunting souls. Enchanting with them can be tedious, but won't actually take much time.
  8. This has been addressed in several threads already, but I'll hit it up here. It is common in Bethesda's games for a triggered event to not be fixed by a patch. That is, if your house was "messed up" before the patch, the patch is unlikely to fix your problem. If a quest was completed but "broken," it's unlikely that patch will let you successfully complete that quest. It is regrettable that this bug happened to the most desirable home in Vanilla Skyrim.
  9. You're not going to find many pieces of light armor that aren't sneak oriented from any of the guild quests. You will often find light armor random drops that have the following warrior-friendly enchants though: +Light Armor Skill +Health +Healing rate +Block (shields) +Resist (shields, boots) "Boss" style chests out in the world and in dungeons are your best bet outside of buying from merchants. If you're into smithing and enchanting, a full set of upgraded and enchanted elven armor will take you a long way through the game. Later you could switch to glass or dragonscale. I'm personally a huge fan of the "light warrior." My current rogue/thief is definitely a light warrior hybrid, and she can go toe-to-toe with even ancient dragons. Light armor gives you a ton of mobility, and lets you better utilize your stamina pool. I highly encourage you to pursue the block tree through at least block runner and shield charge. Those pair very well with a mobile light warrior.
  10. You're so selling the "shining in the sunlight" power way short. You don't even have to wear an amulet of Mara to pick up half of the young women in Skyrim. Seriously though I think most forum goers share your opinion. Being a vampire is pretty watered down, and inconvenient with little recompense.
  11. The standard wait 3 days in another area thing seems to have worked. I'm betting that Delphine got triggered somehow while I was killing Sven in the inn. Waiting three days must have reset her and cleaned up the bodies too. Although really I wonder if this isn't corpse related and not a "bug" at all. It actually makes logical sense for this to happen, but I'm not sure if it is intended or a bug.
  12. I recently got done with some questing and went to unload a pile of loot at the Riverwood Trader. I fast traveled to the normal Riverwood location. I hit the wait key to see what time it was, and got the "cannot wait with enemies nearby" message. Thinking it was a distant dragon, I proceeded into the town toward Lucan's shop. Lucan traded with me as normal, and both he and Camilla were fine. Suddenly my compass shows about 6 red dots, which expands to 8-10. Most of the town along with the guards are mad at me. I have no bounty, and I haven't attacked anyone in the town in front of anyone else. I did kill Hilde and Sven not long ago, but both were killed without witnesses. I've since been able to move freely in Riverwood for the last 3-4 trips there. Sven was killed in the inn, but I've done this on many characters with no negative consequences. Any help? Console commands etc? Thank you!
  13. My total mod selection is never 100% Elder Scrolls lore friendly, but I would say it stays within a reasonable distance. I'll use a mod if it is a few short, logical steps away from the center of the existing lore. Example: there were some nifty Dwemer "steampunk" style mods for Oblivion that didn't get all crazy. And obviously there were a million armor or weapon mods that weren't explicitly lore friendly, but they fit with the core environment. I'm really excited by some of the stuff we've seen come out since the CS was released. I'm holding off on downloading most of them until they've advanced a few version numbers (at least stable release 1.1+).
  14. I would love the heck out of Hadvarr, but I HATE his accent. I hate it with the fiery passion of a thousand suns.
  15. A few stand out for me: Balgruff - he seems principled but with human flaws. Karliah - who can resist that voice? Kodlak - our time together was far too short.
