  1. I very much like the voiced character. I am glad its part and hope it stays in the fallout series. As far as modding, I am fine with no voices for interactions, or very basic voices (yes, no, hmm, etc.) I think the 1st person voice will allow for greater options in midding, not less. so looking forward to seeing what the community does with that huge pool of soundclips at their disposal But, I imagine many will simply opt out of adding voice interactions to their modding.
  2. In response to post #24596944. #24597759, #24597794, #24597919 are all replies on the same post. Personally I think (and have always thought) Nexus should simply make a tipjar app where you can (if you want) tip the artist if they link it to their paypal account or something similar to that. That way you aren't getting bogged down into legal issues with paying for mods which may have dmca issues, etc..simply giving a personal little reward to someones hard work..gives modders incentive to make good works, and everyones happy. Mods of the month getting bonuses are ok, but some people may find far more enjoyment out of some obscure mod that was overlooked a year ago verses the latest elf clothing that got popvoted.
  3. I really, really wanted to love ESO. I also had low expectations going into the beta tests, because I am not a fan of mmo's. They did not disappoint...my understanding that I would be disappointed. It is just another mmo. outside of tamriel lore, there is no big draw. As a nexus addict, the thing in my opinion that pushes Bethesda/Zenimax games far above any other title out there is not just the scope of their open world and the freedom it allows, but its moddability. Those three things have been ultimately removed from the game (and bad graphics added in for good measure to solidify its fail). Its not impossible to make a good mmo, or multiplayer anyhow while keeping the traditional love of a ES title, they simply did it wrong, followed every other format out there. I would pay...a lot of money, for ESO to be abandoned as a mmo and instead being altered into a single player highly optimized skyrim type experience but for all of tamriel. would even pay a little bit a month if I could go to a tavern and invite a few friends into -my- worldspace for my quests (of course the community here would have to set up mod syncing so everyone connecting to me would have the exact order of mods that were important so as not to crash out). I think that this worldspace they have created, even if it fails, is not a complete failure. We may be seeing the framework for TES6 actually. If that's the case, then I applaud the epic huge distraction of this project over their brilliant single player games, and maybe they will also allow for TES6 to have some multiplayer functionality. This game: recommended if you love the lore of Tamriel..otherwise...there are plenty of better mmo's out there in all honesty. this isn't bad, but for the value for dollar...and the fact that they took my favorite title and stamped it on a average to moderately decent mmo...blah.
  4. make a: extensions directory in your main folder, then toss the mods (folder in the zip) in there.
  5. So the Obligatory make a Mass Effect overhaul thread (But, with that typically comes other space titles, such as star wars, trek, firefly, etc. All would be welcome, but where do "you" fit in? Which universe would you like to see modded first off.) I started reading on how to mod the game. Seems the files convert to .dds for images, so getting advertising up here and there seems easy for background ambiance, but what can / should be done to fulfill a proper immersion in that universe? Should there be entire redesigns of races to fit the ME races on stations? Ultimately I am trying to just start a discussion on the complexities and requirements of a overhaul so that people will take up task and either do piecemeal bits, or a team get together and make something amazing. First thing though is caveats and brainstorming So, brainstorming then. How difficult would it be to change meshes for races, turn the lizard men into say, the krogan (to include voice overs discussing the "krogans" instead of lizards), changing attributes, maybe change resource names to the elements found in ME, etc Play background music from the games (not sure of the legalities in uploading assets of other games, so best to simply do a tutorial on how to take your own personal installed files and drop em elsewhere if possible and mod only some sort of converter or plugin?) Changing the posters say, in the club from vanilla naked butt woman to asari butt woman is of course essential :) Ship design changes, pirate name changes, sector changes, maybe even down the line a mega station Citadel? I think the stations themselves require the most work initially. Such potential there, and it is arguably the biggest visual fail of the game (considering it was a highly anticipated feature) Anyhow, I look forward to your thoughts, and of course for clever modders to chime in and take up tasks. Also, Thanks Nexus for making this. The game can rock with your help.
  6. Yes, thanks for the Nexus, I am currently letting the game collect a bit of dust while they hammer out the issues, but with mods, the wait may not be long. This game has crazy potential, but feels like they released framework for a awesome game verses an awesome game in its own. Looking forward to a ton of mods
  7. I love that idea. I hate using consoles for anything, but I have been known to miracle revive some peeps that have left us. I want a consequence, such as a daedra heart and a filled grand soul gem. Could also make it fun. like depending on your conjuration (or restoration) level, it could accidently bring the person back as a zombie or draugr. (percent chance depending on level. Master would have almost no chance, whereas someone whom has never cast a spell...pretty significant concern). Issue may arise when the person disappears and their remains are put into the hall of the dead...so obviously a time limit is needed before death is irreversible (cell cleanup is what, 3 days?). Could even do a balancing act...make one NPC alive, and randomly a named NPC somewhere is marked as dead...stealing lifeforce (obviously a non-critical person).
