Experienced modders: Can this game be fixed?
dosedela replied to GeevilEnius's topic in Starfield's Discussion
That's the game's root problem. Pending a complete overhaul of the story, the game isn't very immersive, and you don't feel like you can influence the fate of the galaxy either. Given that we're talking about emotions, there are a lot of silly / lazy designs, like being able to develop a relationship with one of the crew members. All to be forced to "jump" (trying not to spoil) and then lose everything (including your soul sister). The game struggles to evoke any emotion or develop any kind of relationship between characters, and then cancels everything on the basis of unconvincing statements (I have to ... / it's extremely important to ...), which is just stupid. So yes, I think the problem is more to do with the content (story/emotion) than the technical aspects, nothing that modders can't fix. -
[Mod Request/Idea] Add comets and meteors showers

It's true that natural disasters are very much missing from the game as it stands. Would be great -
[bug] Can not open lockers and some doors
dosedela replied to thxzombie's topic in Starfield's Discussion
Dumb question, do you use the scanner while trying to open doors / lockers ? It looks like it .. scanner doesn't allow these specific interactions- 3 replies

I wonder who is responsible for the development of Vortex and why it is so highlighted here on Nexus. From my brief tests, the software was so unclear on what and how it actually does things. Hardlink, softlink, whateverlink (lol!) wtf are you talking about? I'm far from being a PC novice, but stop talking to me like if I was an engineer or a soft developer. After a huge growing headache I started using Mod Organizer 2, and it was day and light with the previous one. When you launch the soft for the first time, you are greeted with a short tutorial. It is what it is, but it exists, and it tells me a lot on how they want their manager to be user friendly. Beyond this, everything afterward is transparent and easy to use. You also have many folders with mod organiser (consequence of its folders virtualisation I think)... Beth f*#@ed it up from the start, so managers had to deal with it... but it's clear and it actually works...

This one adds some colors https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/4510 . But as I told in my previous post using scanner for looting purposes doesn't allow you to interact fully with the environment, which is truly annoying
-
Good idea, it exists in many RPGs, Alt-key highlights interactive items... I would be ok to use my scanner but it doesn't even allow you to open a door lol

I understand, it ask some investment when you start using it, but you will earn a lot of time on the long term. Once you have figured out how it works, you can no longer live without the functions it offers like activate / deactivate a mod in a single clic or modifying priority order with simple drags and drops for instance. Maybe later ;)

For now, I would manually install..... Vortex ain't quite up to the task yet. :D I gave vortex a rapid try at 4.0 release, it was a disaster. HeyYou and many users mention issues and an overall bad job at managing mods and a clean state of the game. So yes either a manual management or Mod Organizer 2, I'm using it and it's fantastic. For instance, these 2 videos should help you to take a serene start with it

How do you guys made an ESP mod?
dosedela replied to itspsycholight's topic in Starfield's Discussion
Found this one today, I don't understand they are tolerated on Nexus atm. At least the author added a warning in his description but still https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/4679 -
Strange times You should be able to do it manually by yourself with this "mod" https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/716 Just don't tell anyone you used it to change her walk animation lol

[Mod request] Outpost list in game
dosedela replied to ilusaodigital's topic in Starfield's Mod Ideas
More than this to me, the game has needed an interactive encyclopaedia since day 1. The thought of having to go on the internet when I'm looking for a planet is very depressing to me. The same would be a great addition for most possible elements, fauna, flora, equipment, organisations, etc. -
Looking for (an instant) System / Planets scan mod
dosedela replied to dosedela's topic in Starfield's Discussion
Oh I see, you talk about the Astrophysics skill. I may mistake myself, but from the few I know, I don't think it's a real limitation of an hypothetical mod. For instance https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/4510 , Recolored Scanner Outlines, The purple color will only display if you have the skill level at 4. In brief, here are 2 things I'd like to see modded : - No more zoom in animation after scan activation - This may be more difficult to achieve, but an instant key to do the scan. In the current state of the game you have to press the A key for 1 second ... Again, awful -
Looking for (an instant) System / Planets scan mod
dosedela replied to dosedela's topic in Starfield's Discussion
Hi, thank you for asking. I'm looking for a mod for the first kind of scan you describe. In my example, we just discovered Lantana system, and I want to scan every planet in this system. We are in our ship, map opened as you can see on the screen shot. From there, I want to scan each planets of the system (shortcut = key A). After I press A for a second or so, the game zooms in, making the process awful. Then I press TAB to zoom out and after that A to scan the second planet etc. ZZZzzzZZZ and I'm dying lol If at least we could avoid that stupid zoom in between each scan, that would be a good improvement. -
Looking for (an instant) System / Planets scan mod
dosedela posted a topic in Starfield's Discussion
Hello everyone. I've never been a huge fan of mini games in almost every game ... Cyperpunk, skyrim, mass effect ... I just hate them lol. And lets admit Beth is a serious competitors in the most boring mini games category ... So this time I'm looking for something to take care of the painful planetary scans. I mean the one when you are in your ship, map opened with the star and planets. You must know the hell sequence, scan a planet > zoom in (even worse) > zoom out repeat .... I haven't found anything yet, do you know if some mod able to one shot or improve these scans exist ? Thank you for help -
Explore 1000 worlds with 2 dresses and no glasses
dosedela replied to progferbrains's topic in Starfield's Discussion
This is nothing new unfortunately, but it's abusive on Bethesda part. It seems their sells are still very high though, at the same time they would deserve a wake-up call from the players base. It's like they were leaving on another planet past 10 years. ... I like the game thanks to the insane modding community, but selling an improve development kit at a full price is not possible anymore to me. I probably won't be in for TES 6. -
Hello, Which outfit is it please ? Thank you in advance

Thanks you DirtyWeaselMedia, " It's a side effect of virtualizing the Data folders. As you know, Bethesda built Starfield with two Data folders for mods to go into. Most mods route through the Data folder in the games main directory. But, textures go through the Data folder in "Documents". (Hopefully this will be resolved by Beth when they enable modding.) Because MO2 merges both Data folders virtually, any files generated by the game are dumped into Overwrite. I know that the team at MO2 are aware of this issue. Their best suggestion for the time being is to create an empty mod called "Photos" or something like that and then you drag and drop any photos from Overwrite into the new mod occasionally. Not the best solution, but like a lot modding issues right now, it's just a temporary work around." Cheers

I just found some informations, lets be honest it's not clearer to me, but it's something .... Found this on reddit DoubleYouC commented 3 weeks ago " Did you actually test Photo mode as I mentioned? I tested again just now, and it instantly put the screenshot in Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Textures\Photos, with Message of the Day disabled and no existing Data folder in My Games. Since there now is a Textures directory, no Textures in the game's steamapps\common\Starfield\Data\Textures will load. You would need to never use Photo Mode for that to continue to work. Now, if Mod Organizer would hook into this and grab the photos and put it into Overwrite, or perhaps a special Photos mods directory, that would be able to fix the issue, provided that the My Games directory was cleared of the Textures level. "

Keep Manually Installed Mods Updated?
dosedela replied to ohiojosh78's topic in Starfield's Discussion
Hey, I'm not a pro, but a few days ago Vortex made a huge mess with my files (4.0 release), so I decided to give a try to Mod organizer 2. The soft is much clearer to me, there was a small very well made tutorial, and it does his job as intended. Most of the mods are managed but there are still some cases for which you have to manage them manually, and yes .. this is not convenient for updates indeed -
Hello, I'm new to MO2, it's working great overall, but an overwrite phenomenon has appeared and I can't manage to understand it. If I'm launching the game via MO2, and then take a photo with the Photo mod, an overwrite appears with the png picture + the thumbnail into it D:\Mod Organizer\Jeux\Starfield\overwrite\Textures\Photos instead of being created into C:\Users\ME\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Textures\Photos. And if I'm doing the same after having launch the game via its exe, the behavior is the same as intended (the files are created into C:\Users\ME\Documents\My Games\Starfield\Data\Textures\Photos). Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the help
