My favorites are Kharjo and Stenvar...Stenvar's a real tank and Kharjo's a great Archer with decent stealth and I like his attitude and dialog...I have Stenvar at the moment, but am about to do Kharjo's Moon Amulet mission and will swap out to him....yesterday I downloaded the Animal Companion Rings Mod and now have a Snowy Sabre Tooth following my PC everywhere (awesome in battle), so I figure I will go with a theme and have two cat companions for my Nord... :biggrin:

What would make Skyrim better?
1/ Consequences for actions...example: Undermining Mavern should stir her up (stealing horse, smuggling mead, etc...).
2/ More dialog options for better more defined character building RPG experience.
3/ Ability to tell the Blades (Delphine) where to go with her attitude, demands, etc....
4/ More depth to romance than "Make my dinner".
5/ Reaction to your Dragonborn's race, sex, etc... My Dragonborn is a Nord, so why would the Dark Elf Shop Keeper in Windhelm trust him (immediantly at that) and ask him for help with the ring?.... :wallbash:
6/ Not be forced to join Guilds to complete unrelated quests...(I'm looking at you Mages Guild for main quest and Gaulders Amulet)...My Nord is a warrior, the only magic he uses at all are the Shouts, he has no interest in magic.

I have the Skyrim book here (Official Game Guide)....apparently the Thalmor attackers are just a random event, no different to Maiq, etc...My Nord is an upstanding good guy in every respect until either Mavern Black-Briar or the Thalmor are involved, he kills every Thalmor he meets on princible and disrupts Mavern as much as the game allows (stealing horse, killing body guards, smuggling mead, etc...).
I had assumed his bloody rampage on the Thalmor had triggered the revenge attempts, unfortunatley not....also unfortunatley cannot stir up Mavern....I feel Bethesda dropped the ball on those two possibilities.

I'm not a fan of either side....The Imperials are a repressive regime fixed on having everyone under their banner and obviously willing to send someone to the block without even knowing why that person is there and the Stormcloaks are led by a bigoted short sighted mad man...I really don't like Ulfric....I love how Stormcloaks are complaining about the very same thing they did to the Forsworn, the banning of worshipping particular Gods....among other things, slavery, social and economic repression, etc...
But ultimatley I side with the Imperials, reason being a united Tamriel will be the only way to eventually defeat the Thalmor.....My Nord Warrior picks fights with and kills every Thalmor he can.... :devil: ....his not particulary religious himself, its the princible.
I also have my PC run with Hadvar at the start, purely for the better start gear and help in Riverwood....I play it that his not going to sit there listening to Hadvar and Rogvir argue their differences in the middle of a Dragon attack, he just runs for the nearest door in line of sight, which just happens to be Hadvar's door....self preservation first, then worry about who's behind him.

The Followers I have had the best runs with so far are Kharjo and Stenvar, but then again I keep them equipped to level...right now I have Stenvar and have him wearing Flawless Ebony Armor which came with an extra heavy armor enchantment boost and carrying a Flawless Ebony Greatsword, his an unstoppable tank....I didn't have much luck with Mecurio, he died almost as soon as I got him unless it was a game glitch, I had my PC take a short cut through difficult mountain terrain, reached the bottom and waited (Mecurio had gone the long way), he never arrived and I found I could request another Follower, I don't really know what happened to Mecurio...As for least favored Follower, Mjoll drives me insane with her constant banter, I don't use her at all anymore....not a battle thing, just the constant inane chatter.

Good topic...thank you OP....I was disappointed and felt let down by Bethesda on the lack of content in regards to my Dragonborn getting married, just a small number of extra dialog's...."Interested in me are you?" and "Make my dinner"....suffice to say my Dragonborn's have never married again....pointless.
Having read all the comments here....I certainly wouldn't like rape included, but other realisms absolutley....Think of the attention Rock Stars, etc get.... many a young girl...and older...lining up to bed these people for their fame, etc....consider the fact that Dragonborn is so much more than a Rock Star, coupled with the fact that Skyrim is a tough and dangerous world...life is cheap...plus the fact that Dragonborn is pretty barbarian...Skyrims population is far too pristine and unrealistic in their lack of sexual interests for the world they live in...I don't think it would take just a prostitute to consent to or wish for a quick roll in the hay, I think Dragonborn would find him/herself pretty popular, quite a notch on the bed post in a number of eyes....though the inclusion of Brothels would also make a great deal of realism sense.
It's a funny thing how decapitations, blood splatter, dismemberments, violence, etc... are considered acceptable, but nudity and sexuality is perverse?...Odd and quite disturbing really....I am not interested in highly explicit (hard porn close ups) scenes for my Dragonborn, but something more realistic (maybe still not for the squeamish) would be great and not just locked to marriage.

Does anyone know if there are any consequences to killing off all the Forsworn before you meet Madannoch? I am attempting this with my current PC, scouring the Reach seeing if it's possible to wipe them all out, I am hoping for consequences...the PC is a also a Nord, my trying to add insult to injury in the hopes of a reaction.
all? you cant kill ALL the forsworn, they are like bandits, and skeevers. they just respawn after 3 days without you being in the area

I agree OP.....I play a straight up, weapons toting Nord Warrior, the only magic he comes anywhere near are the Shouts (if that is even technically magic)...but to complete the main quest he HAS to join the Mages Guild...O.o...I would have much preferred just be able to speak with the librarian about the scrolls without him having to join up. If he wants Gaulders Amulet he gets dragged in even further...is very immersion breaking....I have decided to forgo to Amulet altogether, my PC is not a Mage.

I side with the Imperials....it takes my PC a long time before he picks a side though...I run each game off my perspective from the first game...at first he wants nothing to do with the Imperials, they were going to execute him simply for being in the wrong place at the wrong time....but after travelling around and speaking with a variety of people, Ulfric isn't exactly a prime candidate for High King and I find him extremely suspicious...Plus, the Imperials don't seem to be exactly supporting the Thalmor, more bidding their time than anything and if there is to be an eventual counter strike against the Thalmor a united kingdom stands a much better chance....that's my take on it anyway.

I have played an Imperial and a Nord....there is that older man in Riften who comments he can only handle the Imperial stench for so long and the Bar Keep in the Grey Quarter who says "Another Nord...splendid" and something about a Nord slumming it.....I was disappointed though at how easily my Nord is able to pick up the small mission involving Viola's ring, why would the shop keeper even confide in him (my Nord)?...I thought that quite bizarre....More of a reaction from Madannoch and his crew would have been cool too, one of the prisoners telling my Nord he just wished he had killed more Nords, some extra dialog or less easy trust there would have been great.

I can't kill Paarthurnax, as my favorite character in the game and the only one that makes any real sense in the main quest....I feel the Grey Beards are complacent, the Blades are genocidal and power hungry...Paarthunax has a much more balanced view. I would have liked to be able to tell the Blades where to get off and tell Paarthunax that I'm not going to kill him.
Delphine I didn't like from the moment my PC met her, she threatens him ("If I didn't like the look of you, you would be dead already"...I wish there was an option to put her in her place there)...wants him to prove himself to a complete stranger, I don't like him having to bow down to her and take her with him to kill the dragon....tells him she is there to protect and GUIDE him...O.o...,etc....it's a pity you can't circumvent the Blades to complete the main quest, all they essentially really give is knowledge that the Dragon Rend call existed, after that their pretty defunct....By the way, doesn't the 'Blades Stronghold' technically belong to the Dragon Born? That's what I was thinking anyway, as it takes the Dragonborn to enter the place in the first place....Yes, I would like to kick them out...>:-)
I was shocked and suprised on my first play through when the Blades first told my PC they want Paarthunax dead...aside from an immediate 'No!' I also weighed the advantages/disadvantages....came down to Dragon versus an old man and a pain in the ..... woman as an ally....it was a no brainer...:-).

i havent heard of such mod, but theres a mod http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=820 that makes non-playable stuff playable, and you can add the executioner's armor with the console ( player.additem 'formid' 1)

Thank you luul...unfortunatley that mod comes with the top and side skirts also :-(.... I have tried to loot Briar Hearts for their body armor also (they only wear the bottom half), but can't do it....Thanks though luul, much appreciated.

Hello to all...I have just signed up and am brand new to PC games and mods...have always played XBox and am not computer savvy by a long shot, but just picked up a PC copy of 'Skyrim' today...have hammered it on the XBox :-)....I have been a little disappointed in the armor for males though (am female, but like playing male PC's).....I'm looking for something like the Executioners Armor, minus the hood, gauntlets, shirt and side skirts...just the fur piece and belt....Is a mod like that available?...Thank you for your time people...Stay well :-).

I found the Thieves Guild in Skyrim quite the let down too....there's something honorable about the Thieves Guild in Oblivion and has in my opinion the best final quest in Oblivion....Skyrims Guild are just Black Briar lackeys shaking down Shop Keepers in their spare time.
As for the Dark Brotherhood, I can't speak for their quests as I am taking too much joy in killing Astrid in the Abandoned Shack....I am loving the ability to destroy the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim....I hated not being able to do so in Oblivion.
