Hello all! I want to refresh my NV mod files. Basically, I want it to be like I just downloaded NMM for the first time, with a brand new install of NV. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the game, but when I open NMM it still has all the files. I canceled them all out, but still, I want to refresh with a clean slate like I had just installed everything for the first time. Is this possible? Thank you!

Advice on starting up new modded FNV
GlockuFy replied to GlockuFy's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
It's not that I necessarily can't stand the graphics, but I would prefer to retexturize it, it's pretty much the top thing I'd like to experiment with. I don't really mind having to restart often, if it becomes a big hassle I could always cut some of them out and then start a new save. Thank you very much, I appreciate it! -
So the issue with modding FNV for me is..... there are tons of AMAZING mods, and I would love to somehow be able to have them all   , but that's not possible obviously. So I have priorities on what I want to do with FNV, and I would like some advice on a good combination. Sure I can look up a YT video and get a combination of things that people have done, but they don't have the same goal as I do, so I was hoping that someone who was more experienced could possibly help me come up with some sort of list of mods that would appease my goal! Tonight I am going to try to come up with my own list and I will edit this post and add it in, but I would like some suggestions from someone who has more experience in this area. I have an i7-7700 w/ a GTX 1070. Priorities (in order) Retexture and make FNV look like a game from this year as best as possible (I do not like the "growth" retexture mods, anything that adds too many plants is a nogo for me. I like the classic looks of the Mojave.) Extra Quests! More weapons More armor Body Modifiers NPC mods (something similar to the Skyrim mod that makes NPCs actually do things that make sense lol) Animation mods (last priority honestly, it's not super important that the character bobs while in FPP, or that the guns recoil looks better, etc..) I don't necessarily need anything other than these things here, but I am open to any suggestions to what people might think make it better. I plan on making this run with the DLC included because when I played it back years ago I never made it past the OWB DLC. So- I never actually completed the game, and I want to complete it with extra quests to do, and just an overall expansion of the game. FNV is a game that I enjoyed way more than others and is in the top 5 games of all time for me personally. So I really want to enjoy this :) Thanks for any responses I get in advance, I look forward to getting this running :))

Odd issues with Modded FNV...
GlockuFy replied to GlockuFy's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Thanks again for all the help. I haven't had the time to sit down and re set up and choose what mods I want yet, AFTER I read through the provided articles. It's actually gonna be a decent chunk of work and Ive been busy streaming Hell Let Loose, but I can't wait to hop back in and try to get it running. Playing a remastered NV with newer features and extra quest/content sounds like a damn dream lol. I'll let you know how it goes after I get it done :) -
Odd issues with Modded FNV...
GlockuFy replied to GlockuFy's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Thanks so much for your response, I look forward to reading through these guides and giving it another shot this evening. One last question though. The issue I had with the exiting the game I don't believe it was a CTD. I exited the game. Then it froze onto my desktop. I waited an hour while at the same time trying to force quit with Task manager. After I finally gave up and held the power button to shut it down, it took around 20-30 minutes to get windows booted up on the restart. Any ideas what this is or what caused it? -
Odd issues with Modded FNV...
GlockuFy replied to GlockuFy's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Considering the issues that started you on this "quest", I would advise against trying to just copy the installed files. (Note those are distinct from "downloaded" files. No need to re-download package files that are already "on disk".) "Install order" is just as important as "load order". You really don't want to bring along the same problems to the new location. Think of it as a chance to do things properly. Just installing a bunch of mods is a sure fire recipe for disaster. You need to prioritize them in order of importance to you, and then install and test them one at a time in order to know which work together seamlessly. If a mod doesn't work with others you consider of higher priority, then get rid of it. You don't want "the tail wagging the dog". Rushing to install a bunch of mods and start playing is the most common error people create for themselves. Please see the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. -Dubious- Okay well then I'll ask you a question then. My first priority is retexturing the game and getting it looking a bit better. My second priority would be "newer features that make the game feel newer" such as new animations, body modifiers, expanded weapons, etc etc, my third priority would be more quests and content. What is the order I should be focusing on installing all mods? Another one, What is the maximum amount of mods I should install? Is there a limit to where issues will arise? I'm not really worried about stuff overlapping and some things not being perfect, I'm more worried about things like the game getting frozen onto my desktop when closing. Last question, How do I completely clear out the game and Nexus Mod manager. EDIT: Also I don't know why this is bold, I didn't mean to bold the post... Anyways I had one last question. What is the proper way to test the mods out. For example: I don't have a New Vegas save on my PC. This is my first PC playthrough. My last playthrough was years ago on 360. So is it okay to test it from a new save do you think? I am sorry for all the questions. You do not have to answer them if you do not want to. -
Odd issues with Modded FNV...
GlockuFy replied to GlockuFy's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Troubleshooting
Please remember we can't see your machine and have to rely upon what you inform us. Details matter (which is why I had to ask about the seeming inconsistency of your move destination). -Dubious- Oh I apologize, I wrote a response but something happened and it must not have sent for some reason. I wanted to ask you if there was someone for me to avoid having to reinstall all the mods again when I reinstall the game. -

Yeah, sorry I wasn't super accurate with the folder names, lol I thought you would understand what I meant if I wasn't pinpoint accurate. So where you said "2. Steam > settings ....." that is not actually a directory. That is me explaining the steps I used in moving the folder. 1 & 3 are the same directory EXCEPT I forgot to put "Program Files" in the forum post, but yes I meant to say the same thing as #1. Alright, so I can make a backup of my modded NV before doing this.. great! Haha I didn't want to spend all that time setting all the mods up again xD. So, I will give this a go and let you know what happens! -

Answers to your questions 1. Yes- it was installed before I moved the game. I have not tried to reinstall it yet. 2. Yes I did go to steam settings and create a steam library folder. I routed it G > Program Files (Created this folder beforehand) > Steam 3. Yes it was to the default C directory (as per the original harddrive). 4. Yes here is the link : https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=how+to+move+steam+games+to+ssd&&view=detail&mid=5BBB7DF62DFFCA17198C5BBB7DF62DFFCA17198C&&FORM=VDRVRV EDIT: The link I posted is incorrect. I wasn't able to find the original video I used, so I watched the first few mins and after he did the "Create Steam Library" onto the new drive I figured he did the same steps, and pasted the link. Upon further watching the video this is not what I did. I did not copy and paste the folder into the new directory. I went into steam and right clicked Fallout: New vegas and clicked properties and then Move Install Files.. So what I did in order: 1. Go to Steam > Settings > Downloads > Steam Library Folders > G: > Create 2. Right click Fallout: New Vegas then go > Properties > Local Files > Move Install Folder > G:\SSD\Steam -
Odd issues with Modded FNV...

I had steam move it. Right clicked the game file and used "Move Install Folder" -
I'm setting up pretty much a remastered NV with some quest mods and some other things. I didn't expect all the mods to work well together, and I expected to change and overwrite things as I needed; However, I've had some 2 VERY weird issues. The first issue I believe is the fact that I moved the New Vegas install folder to my SSD after I installed NVSE and NV4GB. When I load the 4GB version I get an error "Error Opening Executable" "The system cannot find the file specified." I'm assuming that its talking about the 4GB patch file trying to load the original FNV .exe file. Is there a way I can rewrite FNV4GB to go to my SSD's directory for the .exe instead of looking in the Hard drive? Is this even the issue I'm having? This Is the really weird issue: âI was able to load the game up with just NVSE. I'm assuming that I didn't go over the 2GB limit because I didn't get the out of memory error. However, I went in and started a new game.. everything was running good except for a few mods glitching out and some texture issues (which I expected). When I went to close out the game to change around the loading order and reinstall some of the mods the game froze onto my screen. I was able to Alt+Tab and right click to close it but it wouldn't work. I was also able to tab out to the task manager to try to force close the program. It also didn't work. I even sat and waited for an hour to see if it would eventually close down. I ended up having to hold down the power button on the PC to shut it down. When I went to restart my computer it took beyond 20 minutes to finally load up. Does anyone know what happened here? The 4GB patch I'm sure I can figure out the issue on my own, but this issue I don't think I'll be able to figure out. I'd appreciate any help you guys could give me. I spent 2 nights trying to set up this modded NV and I really don't want to have to go through it again so I haven't uninstalled FNV yet.. If I have too, I will. Was this even an issue with the game? Is something wrong with my PC? So many questions, lol, anyways please lmk if you have any idea about this. Specs: Windows 10 Intel i7-7700 Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB VRAM 16 GB RAM If you want to know anything else about my PC, please feel free to ask. Thanks for reading my blob of text!

Where is this "Dragonskin Tactical Vest" coming from?
GlockuFy replied to GlockuFy's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Wow, that sucks. It's also a bummer that you didn't know they were ripped off. I mean I understand taking it down because of that, but I sure hope you guys are going to be able to come back. You did a really good job on the mod. It adds so much into the weapons and ammo diversity. I use the Firearms + DKS + 10mm revolver + Desert Eagle, and the weapons are so diverse. I loved New Vegas because of the amount of weapons that were in the vanilla game. However, Fallout 4 was a disappointment in the weapons side of things. I know that New Vegas was Obsidian though and that's probably the reason for the weapons diversity. Vanilla Fallout 3 was also pretty lame on the weapons. I want to go back and play Fo3 again, but hell, I can't add any weapons in via console and I figure it would end up not being as fun. -
Where is this "Dragonskin Tactical Vest" coming from?
GlockuFy replied to GlockuFy's topic in Fallout 4's Discussion
Unfortunately, yes, lol. No computer yet, only computer I have is a MacBook fail for school. Anyways I guess that is where that came from. By the way, thanks, now I just have to find it again. I actually was looking for the description here, and I saw on another upload where the mod was actually removed from nexus. What happened? -
Alright, so I found an armor called "Dragonskin Tactical Vest." I have been doing research and it's not in the Vanilla Game. I did a keyword search across all mods and it's not in anyone's description or title. It's a really kickass armor that goes so well with the black army helmet. Here's my issue- I was having problems with a "Trait" mod and it F'ed my SPECIAL Stats. I had to go in and disable and delete the mod and reload an older save. Fine. So I go back to the chest with the Dragonskin Tactical Vest... And there's Combat Armor. Great. I am almost 100% positive it had nothing to do with the "Trait" mod. I looked through all of the mods I have and I can't find any description with this Dragonskin Vest. Does anyone have any idea where this came from? Thank you.

Fallout 4 mods will be on Xbox One, thoughts ?
GlockuFy replied to NILLOC916's topic in Other Systems
As someone who is new to modded content, but has been playing Fallout for years, I am extremely excited and have been having a lot of fun with different mods. On the other hand, I really hate that people have been stealing mods from Nexus and uploading them to Bethesda. I do not support stolen content period, and anyone I talk to about the issue I urge them not to support stolen content as well. I wish that wasn't going on with mods going to console. I've actually yet to start researching and see how much of a problem it was before console mods were available. On another note the claims about lag I've seen are actually false. I just read a comment where it was stated that mods would make the game unplayable. In all actuality it's not any worse. I played the vanilla game for 20 or so hours before I started over with mods. My game experience has been much better. With so much more to build in my settlement I actually have to go out and search for more junk supplies. I've added in more aliens, beantown interiors has been great, plenty o exploration, mo quests, and so many more sweet add one have made the game so much richer. The game still runs just as smooth, and a LOT less buggy because of the unnofficial patch. As far as performance goes I have plenty of mods in the game and it's great. I am sure that even if they expanded the 2GB for more modding room that there wouldn't be any issue, unless someone didn't understand the load order of mods. With the mods being stolen though, that's something that has a huge downside with console mods. I feel that Bethesda should do more to prevent this, and maybe even hire a team of employees just to attack this issue. I mean I've read stuff about modders wanting to port their mods to console but just don't have the time or patience to do this, if the people that are stealing would actually get permission from the owners of the mod and work it out with them, we could actually take the issue of "stolen mods" and turn it into a free porting service so that modders could have their work ported into console form for them. That would be a great way to solve two problems at once. But having someone organize this would probably be too much to bear. Maybe sometime in the future these issues will be easier to deal with. I surely hope so.
