In response to post #24630679. #24630994, #24631019, #24633789, #24634364 are all replies on the same post. It was a choice beforehand aswell, a modder could easily demand compensation for using his mod. Now it is actively enforced by a third party too. I don't think that when you make something for the general public it's up to you to decide the price, even if you assume it's worth by yourself, considering it's not actually 100% your work, and it's not licensed material. So honestly, I think it should be free, mostly because there is no reason it shouldn't be, other than personal want for profit. Modding is not a profession, it's a hobby, it does not require a budget nor much manpower, it's also not professional work and nothing is guaranteed to work right as there is no actual QA or organizational infrastructure, it's a hobbyist pastime and monetizing it will actually make proper modding support impossible. You can't complain on a mod not working too much when it's free, but when you pay for it and it makes problems, you can damn well demand a refund and better long-time support. This is a self-binding contract that I doubt many modders can dedicate themselves to, if at all. It's also not legally binding on the workshop either, if 24hours pass and you didn't ask a refund (which is very much likely because there's no guarantee you'll encounter a game breaking issue in the first day), you are very well f*cked as the modder is not entitled to fix anything. This is a bad move for everyone involved. -

This is not a job or a profession, it's a passion-driven hobby. Monetizing it destroys the very thing it's built upon -- love for the game and community. -

I'm somwhat dissapointed by this site's stance. I mean, I got used to it, but it's still sad. You guys always have a tendency to kiss up to Bethesda and Valve and accept every decision they make like it's for the best. I mean, I guess I can see the logic behind being afraid of the big boys and all, but c'mon, some spine, mates!. This site didn't use to be like this, back a few years back before Skyrim came out, when the site had it's old design, when certain "politically incorrect" mods were still around, when free speech was still encouraged and and not hugbox 'discussions'. This site is a pedestal of the modern mod scenes, and people look up to the decisions you guys take! I'd like to see an actual stance, not a "well maybe it's for the best..". What the hell? Monetizing every aspect of a community is the most effective way to kill it off. Look at the Sims3. A community is based on people working and sharing with each other for love of the community and it's common enjoyment, not for the sake of profit. This is essentially ruining the community and making it a marketplace. The amount of scams and drama that are about to unfold is going to be berserk. It should discouraged by everyone, from simple mod user, to modder, to the site's admin, to use the Valve/Bethesda Workshop service. Not only because it plain rips off the modders and make their mods Bethesda's property, unrightfully so (just because the textures or engine are yours doesn't make the hours and effort modders spent to better YOUR game better is yours aswell), but also because this is gonig to break apart a community. A great one. -

@xPr0metheus "when a person needs so many words to hide that he is pissed off that he was banned for some reason and tries to make it look like the moderators were to blame or the system was wrong, and talks about historical mistakes or stuff like that... get a real life dude, it's just the internet^^^" You know S/He was talking exactly about these type of comemnts? Nice Ad Hominem. -

@BOBONATOR2 Do explain why, because from what I see, the Transparency system only seeks to embarass the offenders by doing this: " Here's what you said, now look at him. Look at him and laugh." Correct me if i'm wrong. -

@Hickory I meant no offense to you, I used you as an example. I found ATAA's comment fully coherent, and figured you didn't because of all the uncommon words he threw around. So I used you to make a sarcastic joke as an example to something i've seen people banned for before. Sorry for using you. -

@Hickory Are big words painful for you? If I'm not incorrect, that sarcastic joke I just made probably puts me up at risk for a ban, doesn't it? Like it or not, Mr.Anotherthrowawayaccount ( Ironic) has a alot of merit to his argument. You are acting like dictators and eventually this is going to bite you back. i can understand troll posts getting banned, and spam of course, but when YOUR moderators ban people just because something in that comment ticked them off, that's where a line has to be drawn, that's when someone can be judged incapable of justifying the power bestowed to him. Banning people for simply disagreeing with you or making an honest joke just so *someone* might not get offended is a prudish attitude, and one that will definately put off many a great people who are ready and willing to dedicate their time to this community. Not once and not twice i've seen this, you even banned great modders who contributed to this site, on less-than-meager "offenses". I enjoy using this place as a resource for my modding experience, but damn, do I hate doing anything other than downloading here. Almost always greeted by insults and lowly sarcasm simply for asking questions. That is NOT how you build a community. I do hope the site takes these comments into serious consideration, instead of smithing the banhammer on anyone for thinking differently. -
Wow, this was.... Pointless. The old one looked great, why change it? Are you guys trying to look like GameSpot and IGN? Really, pointless. and incresingly annoying too. The blocks are an eyesore.

LE Someone should make a minimap mod
TohouAsura replied to alexmoorehead42's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
It SHOULD be possible if you base this off of scripts from Fallout 3/NV which has a compass, and evolve it in that direction, but to actually toggle the map as part of the on-screen gameplay could be troublesome... I'm not even gonna try. This is way out of my limit. -
Yes, yes, YES!!! Someone make this happen! A Demon/Dark Souls knight class armor needs to happen too!! And the armor of the Maiden knight from Demon's!! please!

What David said. Besides, you're forgetting the quest in Skyrim to get Mehrune's Razor... It has you talking to Mehrunes Dagon. Pretty sure dead stuff aren't supposed to speak and give you quests. Then again, it IS The Elder Scrolls. I don't see why people are whining about lore? You actually want a mod not to happen because it is lore breaking? Are you for real?! Beside it CAN fit the lore. We closed the Oblivion gates for good. Allright. Since when can "for good" actually be considered trust-worthy? It's been over 200 years since the crisis, and Dagon has been reborn. We can easily think of a reason to try this again, maybe Dagon is back for a second round, maybe another Daedric prince is trying to invade, and maybe Martin became a daedric price, WHO CARES really? This mod can and should happen.

A mod like this exists. Turning into a Dragon is not the problem. Controlling it is. Making it fly is pretty damn hard.
-
But doesn't the Witcher Ultimate mod already do this? I'm pretty sure it does have a WItcher race. It gives you a Geralt, Iorveth, and Witcher races, which gives the eyes. Try that. It also comes with the Witcher Spells, skins, All armor types and Faces.

Actually it would be wrong to make it look like your pulling out a sword, because you aren't, you are pulling a hidden blade under your sleeve. I think the barehand animation would work fine. It's the way the blade will be unsheated. it needs to be hidden under the handwrist armor, and pulled out using animation to it. Of course modding the blade clash sound is alos needed, but it shouldn't be that much a problem, Skyrim has the resources. The hidden blade must be created alongside the armor in some modelling program like Max or Blender, however. People tend to use Blender more for Skyrim, but I find it so annoying to work with. It also needs to be made so it doesn't conflict with armors and end up looking bizzare, but that detail is less important.

If what you mean is bringing back the Oblivion Gates, then HELL YEAH!! What a brilliant idea! Someone needs to do that! Shouting the Daedric Princes back to where they came from, what a spectacular concept! I love homages to other games. Hope someone does that. In fact it shouldn't be TOO hard with the lvl editor.... Thing is, I don't know if Skyrim has Lava and Hellish-themes in it's databases... Meaning we have to start from scratch there.... Or not.
