Impressions of The Frontier so far?
lagennagen replied to Chopsticks3's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
It runs aight 90% of the time on my RX570 with the minimalist ENB. On the whole its an incredible technical achievement. The level of care and detail poured into the world space is incredible, and the designs of many characters are very thoughtful and well put together. Respectfully to whoever had the responsibility, the dialogue writing and the action set pieces, which for New California's made it rather rough around the edges, can make this mod somewhat hard to get through. Scenes from Modern Warfare, MGS re-enacted in their entirety. Really straddles the line between paying omage and aping ideas from other games. And what really bothered me was The worst I can say otherwise is some kinda odd narrative decisions and design focus for an RPG experience. Don't let that stop you from trying it out though.- 23 replies

Does anyone know of a mod that will reward NPC's with your bounty upon your surrender? How difficult would it be to implement such a thing?

It looks amazing! I am loving the changes so far. I do wonder if maybe we could have a place to submit mod list's though? Being able to peruse ideas for setups and how to achieve them would improve the nexus for older and newer users. It might also help modders get an idea of how their mods are being used, which is sometimes really useful information.

LE A nice Gaurd armor like in this picture
lagennagen replied to lagennagen's topic in Skyrim's Mod Ideas
As far as I know it's an original art. I found it here: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/LaR9w -
I like it cause it has that belle style helmet, but also that half facemask to cover the lower face. It has this sense of providing really good protection while also not being totally juggernaut like. Sometimes I don't actually want to be human tank XD

I have followed gophers tutorial, but it just doesn't work on my game, period. I have added bEnableFileSelection=1, however mods are never activated in the plugin ini file and do not work when I add them manually. This is beyond frustrating.

Part of the issue with modded weapons is getting certain mod authors ridiculously overpowered guns to play nice with damage overhaul mods. However I think I have a quick and dirty solution. First take a look at a mod like realistic ammo here:http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/56221/ What if instead of focusing on the weapon damages themselves, we used some geck function to multiply all weapons damage to the power of zero, making them all 1? Then, we could use a mod like realistic ammo to make all guns, including modded, only do damage based on the type of bullets they use! We could utilize almost any mods we wanted in a balanced and fair manner. We could even make sure all the unique weapons stay in their rightful place as top tier weapons that cannot be substituted! I really need to finish up that loading screen mod as I promised, but I think this could work out really well assuming the Geck can work with exponents.

A zombie mod that doesn't suck.
lagennagen replied to KururugiSuzaku's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Mod Ideas
Important NPCs can already die. I would settle for a sprinkling of survivors, chance of infection, and no completely insane game breaking zombie f*#@bois like in the only mod I have seen that actually includes infection. I couldn't agree more, the current zombie mods are lacking one solid general zombie infection mod. -
[WIP] The Pacific Wasteland
lagennagen replied to Madsindy's topic in Fallout New Vegas's Discussion
Only two states I have lived in are Oregon and Washington, happy to see several mods popping up in my favourite slice of the US. I am not terribly good with a lot of the stuff you are looking for, but what I can do is try and flesh out the writing and story. Low intelligence dialogue, terrifying presence dialogue, wild wasteland stuff, speech and barter checks, challenges against the players views on wasteland politics, random encounters and wandering NPC's. I would love to do some writing for you. I would just need to know a little about the tone and themes you have in mind so I don't end up writing something you can't use :P I mean I totally get it if you do not wanna go this far, but when it comes to world building it pays off to think about things like "Where do these people get their food and water?" "What cultural differences set this place apart from the rest of the wasteland?" "Why are Deathclaws here or Yao Guais there?" "Why did these people decide to live here?" -
I have been thinking about combining the many great equipment, armor, and weapon mods designed to help reflect the NCR as being massive horde of troops who had to improvise and take what they could get. Obviously I won't be repackaging the meshes and textures so that it will still require them, but I would like to use one ESP to keep the load order impact minimal. However I would really like to be able to just make some adjustments to values for balance and lore reasons and then just sort of transfer them from their respective ESP's into one. Any way of doing this? Would it be a better idea for me to learn how to make an ESM for it? I just want to see if anyone has advice for trying to do this.

I found myself wandering Boston on some random quest I wasn't terribly concerned with but nonetheless pursuing. Suddenly I saw a small building off in the distance and walked up to investigate. I come around the corner and low and behold, there sits a dormant sentry bot. My heart skips a beat with a sudden thought: "Surely, there is some way to make this thing my friend? Surely this game has some way to hack into this magnificent piece of mechanized doom and make it my ally henceforth?" I was horrified to find I was mistaken. No way no how, they are simply adversarial in nature. But I am a modder, and I do not take no for an answer! I would really like to see a sentry bot companion mod. Particularly I would like to see it integrated in a way that doesn't ruin the balance and feels logical for the universe and lore. For instance were I to try, I would set it up so that in a far-off corner of the map a small station sits with a sentry bot hooked up, and a terminal. It will be heavily defended by super mutants and maybe some turrets. There would be 3 primary ways of gaining access: hacking a very difficult terminal and switching it on, picking a very difficult lock to open a safe containing the password, or defeating a mini-boss in another location, that one of the super mutants would have a note for. The mini-boss would also have a copy of the password. Finally, I would want to have a repair cost that is slightly above what any given player would deem balanced. I say slightly above just to make absolutely sure it is well balanced. One additional note, the ability to name it would be nice. If no one else decides to make this, I will probably give it a try. I haven't ever made a decent companion mod, but my vision of this mod does not really include anything beyond using what is already present in the game. But even if I do try or multiple people decide to try it, go ahead. You never know when someone will do it better than you, or you them. Thanks for reading.

I just did that, and I barely added anything. It still played for several hours. WTH XD hmmm very odd. Could be something to do with your ini files then. Skyrim is just a weird game lol. Im the luckiest modder alive. It was the last mod I had.
