  1. I'm not ignoring your posts, as you said. but you're almost exclusively giving me pointers to change the game's general performance, which isn't the issue I have. I'm sure someone will stumble on this thread and find your posts useful, but making the game run better isn't going to help me get rid of the stutter (and I can't really get it to run better at this point. I run it near ultra @60 fps and it stutters on the lowest possible settings).
  2. I did this test a couple days ago. I think I actually did have some i/0 stutter - but evidently that's not the only form of stutter I had. playing on a new, onmodded save seemed to fix the stutter for the first 10-15 minutes but it came back shortly after. I guess I fixed one type of stutter that way, but the more noticeable one is still there. I have a factory OC'd 970. aside from Boston, my setup used to run the game at ultra (godrays off, shadows medium) at a solid 60 fps, with no stuttering at all. exact same scenario with skyrim - the setup I had at the time ran the game fine, then the stutter just appeared for no reason.
  3. well your post was certainly an interesting read - though I have to assume we're not talking about the same stutter. this is something I had happen in skyrim for a very long time, and it never forewarned of a crash or blue screen. the issue persisted even after a clean installation of windows. I'm a bit confused though - are you mistaking SSDs for portable hard drives? External SSDs exist, but aren't ubiquitous. my SSD is my main disk, where windows is installed.
  4. yeah, I installed dx from the fallout redist folder a coupledays ago. plus I've installed many other times when I install a new game that does first time setup.
  5. yeah, like I said, I've done everything I possibly could relating to frametimes and all of that. this issue has nothing to do with that. it's a stutter that just suddenly occurs on bethesda games where it didn't exist before.
  6. Let me start by clarifying that I don't mean the standard vsync stutter. I've already tried every possible combination of settings relating to Vsync/Frame capping/Window mode. What I mean is the unique bethesda stutter that only ever seems to occur 5+ months into an installation of windows/the game. same thing happened in skyrim, same thing happened in fallout 3. it's caused by moving around the world in a way that requires the game to load something (sprinting in a straight line, for example). The game is on an SSD and the stutter is constant so it's not normal behavior. After trying to fix this for skyrim, fallout 3 and fallout 4 - I've probably spent a combined total of 70+ hours troubleshooting this horse s***, and at this point I've exhausted my knowledge of computers. this problem wasn't present a few months ago, so it has nothing to do with my specs. What I've tried already: Reinstalled graphics drivers (removed with DDU), tried 11 different driver packages. Tried every possible combination of .ini settings, NV control panel settings, ENBoost settings, Rivatuner fps cap Checked disk and memory for errors, defragged both hard drives Removed any and all windows 10 bloatware I could find, disabled all the NSA phone home s***, disabled any unnecessary background process Reinstalled the game several times (tried it on both hard drives) Increased page file to 6 GB Ran game at lowest possible settings Disabled Xbox DVR process Checked temps and physical connection of GPU, CPU and RAM. Recently bought new RAM Closed everything aside from Steam and RTSS while running the game Started a new, unmodded save iFPSClamp=30 to completely rule out vsync/64hz stutter.
  7. I've had an idea for a mod that I've wanted to do for a while but I have no patience for the GECK and if I tried to do it myself it would be a waste of time and bandwidth. I want to do the writing and voice acting for a mod based on the character Richard Harrow from Boardwalk Empire. I think he fits the fallout universe perfectly and has more than enough lore to support multiple quests. once again, I am completely incompetent when it comes to using the GECK so I couldn't do anything in that regard but I think it would be a shame to not use such a perfect character for a mod. the skills that would be required are: interior cell design, quest scripting, creating an NPC that looks like the character, and ideally being able to create a couple small armor pieces. if anyone is interested but isn't familiar with the character, the following video is a very small segment of him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV8jH-p5my4
  8. I know this is a pretty old thread, but if you still need the male voice actor I can do it.
  9. the one biggest problem I have with this game is that the 3rd person animations are HORRIBLE. everyone in the world looks like kids fighting with toy swords. one major improvement would be be that larger one handed weapons like the Steel or Iron swords are held with two hands and swing faster when you're not dual wielding. if I was more experienced with dev kits I would have attempted this myself ages ago, but I'd have no idea where to start.
