Yikes! Um, what problem is this new layout supposed to fix?

What I want to be able to do: have a person save their Skyrim configuration in toto and share it with other users as a file; the mod manager would then recreate that experience on my machine without all the hassle that goes with this currently. The manager would download the mods, set them up etc etc so as to create the same Skyrim experience as a mod master would be able to put together. Their are guides that explain how to recreate an "ideal" Skyrim configuration, but they require far too much attention for novices and more casual players. For folks with little time to play around with all that, it deters from playing the game.

I really enjoy mod authors' perspectives: You stated that you wished Bethesda supported mod authors more, and you gave answering questions as an example: what questions could they answer for you? what would be your ideal support from Bethesda? Considering how much money they make indirectly from modders, they should do much more, and even pay modders for what they do. I question why they rely on modders to fix bugs, and do not just incorporate those fixes in the base game, for instance. Why not make Legacy of the Dragon born an official DLC and allow all parties to benefit? I am waiting on Legacy for my first and perhaps last play through of SSE. I will kick a few bucks your way to help out.

Do you plan to switch to Skryim remastered/special edition?
Farvahar replied to Crossforge's topic in Skyrim's Skyrim LE
I want to see if 64 Gigs of ram will make a difference, so yes, I'll be switching. -
It should be easier to donate, I'm thinking a system like the Steam wallet, where I can chip in a few cents or a dollar to a mod project with one click of a button (or two). Give the Nexus 5% of the donation, and you have a winning formula.

In response to post #25818759. The people complaining obviously have the same hopes. They are complaining because those hopes were undermined by what they saw on the trailer.

An underwhelming rehash.

Yes, people should give back and not "leech" but not all of us can mod, and there is no reason to exclude millions of people from a community when they can contribute by: 1) donating, right now it isn't as easy as it should be 2) play testing 3) posting remarks, screen shots, or videos to share the mod or improve it 4) becoming modders, which many do after being "leechers" at first 5) adding to the user base to increase add revenue, that isn't to be sneezed at If 10,000,000 people play a game, and 1% of 1% create mods worth playing, that is 1,000 mods worth playing. Those are good numbers. If 1% contribute in another way, that is 100,000 people, again good numbers. You increase that ratio by community building efforts, not by negativity. -

To follow up on your statements on down-scaling the ambitiousness of modding in order to avoid save game bloat and other performance issues: I deleted Skyrim from my machine in protest of Valve/ZeniMax shenanigans. When the dust settled, I reloaded it in order to try the game first from a vanilla standpoint, and then to load select mods with some donations to each mod author that I want to support. I find the vanilla game to be absolutely acceptable, and it runs quicker, loads faster, and saves within a second or so. There are things that can be improved, and things that can be added, but I will do so in a more controlled fashion than my first couple of years as a mod user. I actually think this ordeal can give Skyrim modding a second wind, but the pressure will be on with GTA V and Witcher 3 as well as Fallout 4. -

I donated recently through the donate button and it was a real hassle (much like renewing my subscription). Would I want to do that for each and every mod author I want to support (could be hundreds). No. Also, I don't like being limited to buying them a subscription to the Nexus, which is a minimum of a couple dollars. Some mods deserve a dollar or 2 (the core game can be had for 5). Most mods deserve a few cents (multiplied by hundreds of thousands of users). This is the ideal system: 1) A wallet system, like Steam has 2) The ability to set the amount you want to donate in cash to the nearest cent 3) the ability to donate to multiple mods at once: a "donate all" button or some such It would have been nice for the players in this (Valve, Bethesda, and Nexus, and a couple of prominent free modder types) to sit down together and hash out a suitable system that allows people to receive donations in lieu of formal payment. The system we have now is not acceptable and "drawing a line under it" invites further turmoil. -

Steam and Bethesda remove paid modding from Skyrim Workshop
Farvahar replied to Dark0ne's topic in Site Updates
In retrospect this could be rather therapeutic, kind of like a heart attack scare that gets the patient to finally eat right and exercise and take their meds regularly. What needs to follow now is: 1. A one-click donate button for both the Workshop and the Nexus. As it stands it is quite cumbersome to donate to the dozens and in some cases hundreds of mods people use. A "one cent to all subscribed", or "10 cents to all subscribed" button would be nice, as well as a Nexus wallet feature (Steam already has one, and it was stunning that they didn't immediately grok that donations >> paying for mods) If the services need to take a cut (say, 5%) that would be reasonable, but this leads me to #2 2. Bethesda working with modders drives sales! Actions like releasing the Creation Kit were not a cost negative proposition for them AT ALL! We need to stop speaking as if poor little Bethesda has gone to the cross for the community, they are billionaires BECAUSE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS! They (meaning ZeniMax) have gotten quite arrogant recently, telling customers what they should want, rather than listening, and this could be the corrective. which leads me to #3 3. It's time to campaign for a Multiplayer / Co-op DLC for Skyrim! Want to "breathe new life into Skyrim" Bethesda? Hire some of the top modders to do this. Pay them. Consider doing it for good will and not for money, but I'm sure 10$ will more than compensate you when you sell millions upon millions of copies! At a minimum get the ZeniMax legal team to lift the embargo on fan made co-op mods put in place to protect ESO! 4. Work with SkyUI and SKSE and others to update the Skyrim core product. Open the source code to the productive modders so they can be even more productive. Pay them. Again, THIS WILL DRIVE SALES! Stopping development in order to foster ESO was a huge error. Skyrim is one of the top paid, top selling PC games even 3 years later, it deserves real support from corporate HQ. 5. The community needs to put their money where their mouth is. I am reinstalling Skyrim tonight, and I will be ponying up some money for Nexus and also for the mods that I install. Probably not a lot, maybe a dollar for the good ones and a few cents for the lesser ones, but if millions of people did that it would have a huge impact. 6. Let's celebrate and rebuild bridges stronger than ever! Let's get ready for Fallout 4 which will begin the count down to Elder Scrolls 6! Seize the day and usher in a new paradigm! Let's do this for the love! -
1) This is probably something you should have said before you said anything else: "I get money from the Valve-Bethesda scheme". It's called full disclosure in medicine and science, which is what I do. Even now we don't have full disclosure because we still don't have clarity of the revenue split. This is important to me as a payer, I want to know who is getting my money and how much. 2) It follows from this that we can all see why a donate system (which seems relatively trivial to implement) has not been pursued on the Nexus or Steam. They want to keep the cut going to the creator of the content low, and they want to sew up everyone behind legal "firewalls" so that once you opt in you are in a no-compete environment and the oligopoly continues. 3) What we need at this stage of the game is good, ethical leadership that will allow grateful players to easily push money to creators of otherwise free content, with a minimal slice going to middlemen. I envision something like a Steam wallet, where you can donate as little as one cent to any or all of the mods that you use on a schedule or whenever the whim hits you. 4) Once you enter into a business partnership with Valve and Bethesda, it is no longer modding, you are now a contractor making DLC, and probably getting paid less than an actual employee would be getting paid. Under the current paradigm, Valve and Bethesda could walk away with 399 dollars for essentially nothing, and the worker gets nothing at all. Think on that for a minute. That's what you signed the Nexus up to. Wow. Where is the common sense? Where is the decency? Bethesda is already dead to me, Valve is teetering on the edge until I hear from GabeN. I now have to throw the Nexus into that category?

It's not you, it's not the users. It's the corporate suits. I af modder wants to try his luck with a 5 dollar mod (when AAA titles are available for less on Steam and often for free), by all means. But the bulk of the money should go to the modder. What I am seeing is exploitation and unethical business practices. -
Valve/Bethesda announce paid modding for Skyrim, more games to follow

What I am seeing tonight from Valve is unconscionable, meriting a full Valve / Bethesda boycott and take down. I am having a hard time believing this was approved by GabeN. All we have is a splash on the main page; I want to hear this from GabeN himself. -
Loot masterlist error: Unknown: Git repository missing And now I'm getting odd CTDs when before skyrim was reasonably stable.

Uninstall 49.7 via control panel's application manager, through an uninstaller to be found in the 49.7 directory, manually, or via the installer of 50.1? Which is recommended?

Hello, I am a fan of SkyRe and also of Ultimate Follower Overhaul, but it always struck me as odd that someone with low speech could have many followers. I was wondering how one would go about modifying either of those mods or making a third mod that would allow a player to have one follower per 20 Speech skill points at the cost of one perk per upgrade? I was thinking of making it an additional bonus to the standard speech perk that effects the trade bonus. Has anyone heard of a similar mod?

Me too.

Every time I "go premium" the nexus experience gets WORSE! Coincidence, or something really not right with the system (paying customer). -
I'll give you money, but not through pay pal. Any other options?
