  1. As I understand the storyline (going back to the original Fallout game) The Brotherhood of Steel came about after a US military command moved to West-Tek's research facility and found out about the scientists experimenting with FEV. They were horrified, killed the scientists and then deserted the military. The bombs dropped soon after they did this though so no-one ever court marshalled them, and once everything settled they moved to... Broken Hill was it? Where they founded the BoS base found in Fallout 1, California The Enclave therefore, would be the actual remnants of the US Government who "didn't" desert, but they both were originally US government troops They are very similar to each other, i.e power armour, hi-tech etc, but the time spent apart shows how the Enclave, who were not deserters, had access to much more tech than the Bos, hense why they're somewhat better equipped
  2. It sounds like the problem is that because you didn't uninstall the game and instead just deleted the folder, the computer still thinks that the game is installed, but now the files have gone you can't automatically uninstall it, nor re-install the game! If you need to install something, go into Control Panel, Add/Remove Software and highlight it from the list in future mate (Most modern games have an Uninstall option if you insert the disk, or via the Start menu) Oh and CCleaner is a very frendly and easy to use program, I use it a lot and often recommend it. It "should" remove the bits that you couldn't
  3. Right having some success now (I think lol) I have doubled the audio cache size, installed K-Lite Codec Basic, and have the GNR Radio Fixed Extended (M Version) Mod (The only mod I'm using so far) and the stutter seems much reduced. I have found it stutters a little, apparently when changing areas, but hitting Escape like some have advised seems to allow the audio to catch up Fingers crossed, as I love the GNR Ext mod, without it the radio would be off most of the time by now! lol
  4. Well so far I've managed to make the problem considerably worse following some of the varying instructions here, but only slightly better Uninstalling old Codec packs has been a pain, and using the Vista Codec pack caused the radio to stutter so badly it was almost impossible to tell what was playing, so I have removed that again! I'm about to try the K-Lite pack, see what happens with that Is there a specific thread that can address the issues that seems to generally work for most people does anyone know?
  5. I found in my latest game that if you don't go to the vault when you hear the radio signal it seems to vanish (I decided to wander around a lot before heading over to the Vault). I stood directly outside the vault door and no signal, opened the fault and had a very quick few second burst of it and then had it cut out again The good thing should be that as long as you have heard the radio signal once, you'll have a DATA entry informing you of the password on your PIPBoy, and simply attempting to open the vault door will progress the story
  6. I've been checking this thread out because I too have had the radio stutter problem, all the way back to vanilla FO3 install before I even started considering mods, DLC etc I have an ASUS Striker II Formula motherboard which although doesn't have "on-board" sound as such, does come with a SupremeFX II 8-CH Audio mini card that doesn't take up a PCI slot. Until now it's done me fine. I am using the radio extender mod for GNR now but that's the same. No better, no worse So I will try some of the fixes and see how it goes
  7. Just a quick question (I assume the answer will be no but I want to double check) I wanted to know if I purchased the DLC via Games for Windows for instance (or alternatively from XBOX Live) am I able to download and use the add on's on both platforms (as essentially I'm buying from the same place) I'm not to keen on buying the DLC seperately for both platforms :(
