I haven't played Skyrim for a few month's. I was going to start a new game, but I opened the mod manager to update any mods that needed it, I also de-activated any mods I didn't want to use right away. When I did try to start the game I was told my version of SKSE was out of date. I downloaded the latest version, 1.6.16, and installed it exactly as instructed. I'm assuming I have the latest version of the game as I play through Steam and it is supposed to be updated automatically. But the game crashes after the load screen. And SKSE is not showing in the Mod Manager as it did before. What am I doing wrong?

I had a mod which expanded the dialogue for companions, and added new comments the longer you kept the companion. I lost it when my old HD bellied up, and I can't remember the name. If anybody knows, I'd appreciate any info. I get tired of the same old comments over and over.
