The game creators and the file site "hosters" by far should be getting the larger portion of the cut, they literally made the game and are hosting/sharing your file(s) for download without them doing 80% of the leg work to make the mod possible in the first place there wouldn't even be a mod. I personally don't like the concept of paying for something that was originally intended to be free and a hobby. Should the community be more gratuitous towards mod authors, absolutely but it shouldn't drive them(mod authors) to the point of hiding their works behind a pay-wall of any sort. Because let's face it, most mods aren't worth the money. While most of the mods in the "Top 100" lists here on the nexus are worth 1 dollar to 8 dollars that is just a fraction of a percent of the mods on the skyrim nexus alone that worth that bit of money. I'd rather be prompted to donate as thanks than be forced to pay for a retexture of someone else's work. My main fear with these new developments(paying for mods) is that almost every tom, dick, and harry mod maker will go hide behind a pay-wall even when the mod isn't even worth paying for. That all being said, I appreciate modders and what they do my solution to this situation works something like this. Youtube video authors receive payment for how many views their videos get within a given period of time. The more "subscribers" they have the more almost guaranteed views they have. Why not work something out like that with the nexus? Where if you endorse or give kudos to a specific author you get a notification every time that author uploads/updates a file. Mod authors would be payed on how many views or downloads their mods get in a given period of time(ex: a month or two weeks). The behind the scenes of how the pay would come out of the Nexus' total revenue could be worked out similarily to, again, how youtube does it. MEANING: I'd rather see mod authors paid in similar fashion to how youtube channel/video authors are being payed. While the nexus may not like losing a bit of it's total profit this is a viable alternative to letting mod authors hide behind pay-walls whether the mod is worth the price or not. I hope it works out for the best of the entire community and doesn't create a union of lazy people screaming for a handout or larger commission.
  2. Sorry for this request being so lengthy, this was a pet project of mine during middle and high school that never got very far off the ground. Backstory about me: I'm a sort of writer in that I have my own set of fan-fictions the same as the next person but I write them down when I can and add to them later. This mod is one of ten short stories about TESV: Skyrim that are intended to be lore friendly expansive in size, scope, and depth of story. So please understand that this is a massive undertaking as I am no modder but rather just a young man of a writer with a passion full of ideas. So in short this mod is mostly a bunch of ideas drawn up in a notebook modeled 3 dimensionally in minecraft and the rest in my head. I have hardly any real experience with the creation kit or mod tools. (I know how to clean mods of bugs a little but that's about it.) The mod: The project is split up into a total of ten episodes that will encompass the entire set of stories, to which there are ten total separate stories. The idea is that at the end of episode ten a script would trigger a set of ten rare books to be able to be found in skyrim which would be about the events that led up to Dragonborn's intervention in each story. The books themselves would cover the prelude of the episodes providing backstory to the audience that plays as the dragonborn this is to say that the books would not cover any of the dragonborn's decisions in each of the episodes, essentially the books provide the backstory about what happened to cause things to be so dire that the dragonborn finds out and intervenes. By this point if you're interested in making a huge quest mod or being a part of seeing one made then please keep reading as I'd like to get the ball rolling on this project sooner rather than later. In total the first episode of this mod encompasses these general work areas all from scratch... 1.New world landscapes (there would be a link with the main open world of Skyrim obviously but in comparison this link would work very similar to the connection from open world skyrim to Fort Dawngaurd) 2.New Armors/armaments (simply put this means new weapons and armors that are tailored to be both lore friendly, balanced, and most of all story fitting as well--meaning that they actually belong in the story because they're part of a character build) 3.Voice Acting for most major and a quite a few minor characters 4.and much more that I'm probably forgetting like a couple new boss dragon fights and styles of dragon skin textures to admire(10 major fights throughout the entirety of the series) If you are interested in seeing this mod get started from the ground up please pm me for more info thanks
  3. Thanks so much!!! I got a similar issue when I was roaming around the reach, I tried changing into a werewolf and it seemed to have gone away, but when I reverted back it was showed up as soon as I went into first person view. Anyway, I googled it and got your thread, so again thank you because when my character looked rather like a bada-- in Ebonsteel Dragonbone Armor(Mod) when trying to snipe forsworn in first person it tends to be a pain trying to see. So again thank you. CommanderJuraks
