Update Started new game All mods disabled I have a compass I guess I'll have to find out which of those mods caused it

I did mean that Here is an update - Title should have said "Compass" When I launch with F4SE I have the health bar and VATS but no compass If I launch with Steam I have all of that but as soon as I enter into a dialog situation I get a big Warning screen F4SE not installed and I have to exit the game In hind sight I don't think I ever had the compass This is a recent new install

I've seen that. The way I fixed that was to launch the game with Steam Quick save > exit

Thats the thing is I don't know how to use LOOT. How does it work with Nexus Mod Manager? Download LOOT/ In NMM, click Tools tab/ Right click LOOT/ Point it to where LOOT resides. Launch LOOT from NMM.

It sounds like you didn't install SKSE correctly. The .exe for SKSE is called - skse_loader.exe located here when done correctly > C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim Have a look here: Installing SKSE When done correctly you should have a option to launch the game via SKSE in the top left drop down.
