  1. Nobody with a clue what went wrong?
  2. A few months ago I started modding Skyrim SE, but I was not happy with the result. So I decided some 4-5 weeks ago to go back to Skyrim LE, which I build up from scratch using MO, with all newly downloaded mods. My PC was giving me some trouble though, so finally I decided to reinstall my computer completely 2 weeks ago. So, last week I completely re-installed Skyrim LE (again) using Mod Organiser to install my favorite mods. I used a backup folder of the MO-mods directory to quickly get my MO complete again, and after rigorous testing I started a playthrough which I have played for some 10 hours now to level 10 So, my computer/install is clean and fresh, there are no old Skyrim/mod files on my computer. There is even almost no software on my computer but Skyrim Skyrim is installed on my G-drive (steam), as is Mod Organiser (G:\ModOrganiser). There's nothing else on this drive.I'm using LOOT to set loadorder, I'm using Realvision ENB and I have SKSE installed in the gamefolder. Yesterday evening my game was running fine and after playing a few hours I saved and quit. This afternoon I started Skyrim and loaded my savegame, and all of a sudden I'm getting strange warnings ingame about mod-versions that are completly false (since I'm using different versions) My modlist: https://pastebin.com/mtj8Em0W The errors (in this order): The last errors keeps repeating. The strange thing is that I as far as I remember did nothing with my computer between quiting Skyrim last night and starting it this afternoon, except: I used Cobian Backup to backup my G:\Games drive. I started this backup last night with the option to turn off my computer after finishing (which it did)Since my computer was still "fresh" I had to setup the backup task first. What could a backup have done to my drive? The other strange thing is that the errors are wrong with the versions they report: - I'm using DynDoLOD 2.35...not below 2.30- SKSE is properly installed (all files + data\scripts in Skyrim gamefolder)- I'm using Frostfall 3.4, not 2.6 or below...- I have wearable lanterns in the game, not sure by which mod they came so I cannot check the version, but I'm NOT using the 'Wearable Lanterns' mod (nexus-ID 17416) Again, I had no problems playing the game for hours last week. So far I've tried: - MO does not show any error- I checked the MO mods directory for filechanges: the DynDOLOD package is the newest file (7 days old now), no other file has been changed since then- re-LOOT to reset loadorder, no effect- used Save Cleaner v2.06 to check the savegames: not a single error found- start a new savegame: same problem- coc whiterun: same problem- re-install SKSE, no effect- reinstalled DynDOLOD, Frostfall, Campfire from the downloaded modfiles: no effect Anybody that has a clue how to fix this? Since I cannot start a new game or "coc whiterun" it is not savegame related. It cannot be the loadorder (generally speaking), since I use default LOOT order and the game was running fine for at least a week up untill I switched off my computer last night. If needed I don't have a huge problem with reinstalling everything again, however I would very very much like to be able to start my savegame again (since I'm kinda done with starting...)
  3. Pffttt..I even had a CTD going through the Helgen quest (entering the last "dungeon" where you meet 5/6 guards) so that doens't even run properly. I think it's my PC then in combination with win 8. I think I'll do some stabilitytesting on the win 7 and then stick with that. Tnx for the tips
  4. Okay, I'll first go see if I still get the CTDs when I follow these steps and don't skip Helgen. If so, then I'll try a new install of win8 + Skyrim. If that fails, I'll just stick to my win7 partition for Skyrim. (I just enalbed papy-logging only for this purpose, it's off again)
  5. Updated the drivers with the win7 64bit drivers for motherboard and sound, but still the same problem. I don't think I ever had soundproblems under win 8 I've also enabled logging in the ini file. Find attached the SKSElog + papyruslogs. I tried 4 times, the game only CTDd in the first try. However, there's a "VM is frozen" in most papyrusfiles. I found this: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/703954-are-you-having-constant-exterior-ctds-ive-finally-found-your-solution/ Could it be that "coc whiterun" from the menu (start a new game directly from main menu) could cause the same problem as described above ? quote: The solution is to REMOVE ALL MODS that are related to altering the beginning and not to use savegames that skip the Helgen sequence I do not use any mods at all, except the DLC, but I DO skip the Helgen sequence by using "coc whiterun". On the other hand, if this would be a problem with a default game (like I'm using) more people should suffer from this... I could try the following: - start a normal game - go through helgen quest (boooorrringggg) - savegame on Whiterun bridge - load game and try if it CTDs the same way. (I should mention that the CTDs are NOT related to this specific location, whiterun bridge. Same occurs on every "coc" around whiterun and probably on other heavy locations)
  6. Tnx. I tried reinstalling DirectX, run DXdiag (no errors). Found that in ENBlocal.ini one setting wasn't correct for AMD-cards but that didn't fix the problem (would be strange since the problem is exactly the same with of without ENB) My motherboard is a MSI p55-gd65 for which there are no specific Win8 drivers, it's a bit of an older system (i5 750 clocked to 3,7Ghz*) so this might be something. Can't fix that though except buy a new system (been looking into that for a while but not really inerested in investing €500 euros atm) Maybe I should go back to win7 on this machine (don't think I win any fps on win8 anyway), but first I need to try a fresh install of everything (*) my overclock is 100% stable (more that 1,5year now), it runs perfectly @4.2Ghz but then the temps are too high. When I keep it at 3,7 the temps are cool and the noise keeps nice and low Of course I could try to lower the overclock, but then there's no need to use win8 at all anymore because that WILL lower my fps ;)
  7. Maybe I'll start allover again with a(nother) fresh windows install... Just a check though if you would like: if you start Skyrim, go to console, "coc whiterun" (i.e. start new game instantly) and immediatly turn around a few times, no CTDs? Must say that I did not have this specific problem ..untill I switched to win8.1? :ermm: ... I played Skyrim from mid 2013 untill okt 2014 on Win 7... (In fact, I still have the win 7 partition with my old installation - complete with all mods), so I will check if I have this Whiterun CTD on my old config  ) edit: sooo...I started my win 7 partition, and under win 7 my Skyrim-installation (complete with all mods) does not CTD when I "coc whiterun"... :geek: Could it be a Win8.1 related problem? Are you using win7 or 8? I switched to win8 a few months ago because it performs so well overall (and hoped to maybe get a few fps extra) but it seems to be the root of the problem...
  8. Thanks anyway. A conclusion I just came up with: while it's annoying, I think this type of CTD will not cause problems in my savegame after I add my mods and start a playthrough (and render my playthrough useless once I'm reaching hours and hours of playing, that's what Im afraid of). It's probalby some memory-related problem which will ocassionaly cause CTDs..?
  9. I'll try, but I'd like to think that my PC should be able to run fullscreen (it's able to get 40+fps with my 150mod setup incl. Realvision ENB). Surely a default game should be no prolbem. I also tried the borderless window patch/mod, but that didn't work. But I'll try, tnx for the tip nope: 1280x720 windowed, still the same CTD I should say that when I "coc riverwood", then run to the bridge at WR and turn around a bit the game didn't crash. Saving at that point, restarting/loading the save and CTD again. Maybe it's just a bad spot...
  10. I recenlty installed win 8.1x64 on m core i5 750, R9-290 4gb, 8Gb, 256Gb SSD computer. I'm using MO to organize my mods. I had around 150 mods installed. I tried to copy the whole MO-dir to the new win 8.1x64 installment, which at first seemed to work fine, after starting a new playthrough. When I reached around level 5 I returned to Whiterun from the West and experienced a CTD, around 750m before the city. This was a consequent CTD. So I figured my mod-setup or savegames where "problematic" After that, I started trying to find out what causes this CTD. After trying all kinds of things I: - check loadorder - check savegame with savegamescalpel - remove specific mods - removed all mods (except 3 DLCs) - updated MO keeping my config - removed ENB - removed SKSE - reset INI's to default Today I totally removed the game and installed it fresh. But even when starting the game totally default (even without DLC) I still get this specific CTD. The CTD: when I start the game to test, I "coc whiterun". After this command you start on the bridge facing eastwards. Then I turn around facing Whiterun. In 40-50% the game CTDs when WR comes into view. If not, in another 30% the game CTDs when I just jump/turn around a little bit on the bridge. This evening, I read http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/753253-only-you-can-prevent-forest-fires/page-5 and tried every option - new install - fresh SKSE with skse.ini - uGridstoLoad - default ini's But I still get this CTD. Now....reading the topic I realize that "coc whiterun" and turning around could "stress" the game-engine since Whiterun has to load and maybe the game needs a bit more startup time. But I'm kind of relucant to rebuild my mod-setup since now I'm in a spot where even a default game CTDs, also when I "coc whiterun" and wait a few moments  I mean, maybe it's not a problem but just a little Skyrimbug I will have to live with (and not use "coc whiterun"....) Any suggestions?
