UPDATE: I simply uninstalled the game and installed it again. Now it works!

Which is why I suspect it's Bethesda's fault with their latest patch. I tried deactivating all mods and running through the launcher and loading a savefile where no mods where present at the time - right before leaving the vault. Still CTD. That cannot be my fault when I didn't change anything.

Seems similar to me. I haven't tried reinstalling the game, though.. Mm.

I have no UI mods and it CTD on load for me. Any suggestions?

--- ATTENTION --- After excessive testing I have found that HYPOTHERMIA was the cause in my case. That mod is NOT compatible with Dawnguard + STEP. If it's not only compatible with Dawnguard, I do not know. - Please take your time to read - HellO! I have been googling this error, found one or two others at this forum with the same issue- The VL transformation is bugged. After pressing the shout key, I only see that "flash" and nothing happens. I cannot access the menu and I cannot change perspective. If I executed the transformation in 1st person, I am now stuck in 1st person. If I executed it in 3rd person, I am now stuck in 3rd person. As far as I have read on this, I think the script takes a long, long time. Eventually, suddenly it will make progress for 0.5 seconds, then nothing again. Also... When I load my game, testing to see if I solved it the next time, I notice the third person camera is a bit to the side of my character. When I raise my fists, it hops back to the middle as I assigned it to in the .ini file. This information here is important as it looks like the same Dawnguard bug with the "Being unable to enter 1st person/Stuck in 3rd person bug". I solved THAT bug back then by loading a save game that the latter didn't occur in, and went from there. Now, it seems to affect all of my save games as a Vampire Lord. Another thing I noticed in the Papyrus log are these lines.... VAMPIRE: Casting transformation spell on [Actor < (00000014)>] [01/07/2013 - 03:05:53AM] error: Cannot call Reset() on a None object, aborting function call stack VAMPIRE: Prepping shift... [01/07/2013 - 03:24:52AM] error: Cannot call Reset() on a None object, aborting function call stack: VAMPIRE: Casting transformation spell on [Actor < (00000014)>] [01/07/2013 - 03:24:52AM] error: Object has no 3D stack I know that 00000014 is the player controlled character. And I think the error is explained in these lines, but I do not understand them. Somebody, please, if you have time, help me and others solve this very persistent error. I'd very much appreciate it. Same problem here. It's weird. I just installed STEP and fired it up. Worked perfectly, Vampire Lord too. Then I added a few more mods as a finishing touch. Suddenly, pressing the shout key to transform takes forever. I just hear that distinguishable sound, the flash, then nothing. Can't change perspective. Menu not available. Hm...

Disabling Crimson Tide only fixed the continuous animation loop the NPC's in Castle Volkahir had when trying to feed. I'm stuck after feeding :/ Any alternate solutions? Another mod perhaps then... ?

The papyrus files are insanely large sometimes, up to 2 gigabyte. What's that all about?

Hmmmm. Interesting. Do you see any particular mods then in my list which is renowned for anything bad? Oh and I never installed Warzones, Sos- Civilization. Always STEP. Any more advices? :) Best regards, - lillemakken

Hello! My savefiles are all on 130 megabyte. How do I "clean" up all the size consuming items and rubble lying around or how do I fix such bloated files? I downloaded "NoBoringSleepWaitMenu" which lets me wait/sleep for 31 days consecutively and didn't work. Also downloaded Possessive Corpses, installed but didn't fix itself either or am I supposed to do something more with it? Need some good tips on how to fix this, as I'm having these occasional freezes every 30 seconds or something. Unplayable, really. I have the exact same problem. I did some tests. First of all I have several backups of a clean skyrim folder installation and one with mods, "STEP - Skyrim Total Enhancement Project" to be exact. Installing Dawnguard into the clean Skyrim folder worked perfectly. Nothing wrong as expected. However, installing Dawnguard into the Skyrim folder containing mods or, the mod(s) that is incompatible with Dawnguard, causing this bug, forces me into third person. EXACTLY as you described it. I'm running out of ideas. Perhaps there is a particular mod we have in common that is causing it. EDIT: I kept loading different save files to see if any of them did not have the bug and ACTUALLY I had a save file that I had made inside coc qasmoke that was made with every mod disabled and I WASN'T forced into third person! I remained in 1st person to my luck and surprise! However, the occasional CPU spikes came back :/

Hello! I have tested with some mod setups, and even if I am only using TheCompiler's "STEP - Skyrim Total Enhancement Project" which is a compilation of user- and lore-friendly mods, I am not able to get into 1st person after installing Dawnguard. I have several copies of the Skyrim folder and made some tests. I have a clean skyrim folder without any mods and as expected when I installed Dawnguard into that folder, it ran perfectly fine. However, when trying to run it with STEP ( 1. - 4. ) + (plugins not requiring a particular order), I am forced to stay in third person. Any solutions? Any utilities or commands I can use to get into 1st person? Each time I scroll in or hold "R" I end up in 1st person for about 1 sec before I'm getting forced back out into third.
