  1. Dunno what's up with the green corpses thing. I think the transparent bars are part of the Darnified UI mod. It brings the console style menu system up to pc standards. It's especially nice if your running high resolutions. It's available as an easy to install omod, which is the easiest way to install it, what with all the options and all.
  2. Alright, if you followed the directions, there should be a folder called 'Mopy' in your oblvion directory (usually E:\Program Files (x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\ on windows xp x64). To launch wrye bash you click on the wrye bash launcher.pyw . I usually just drop a shortcut somewhere. Python is the programming language that wrye bash was written in. It's kinda like .net or java. You need to install the base, then you can run applications that use that base. MalkeX
  3. Thanks. OMOD is a packaged mod, which Oblivion Mod Manager can install and uninstall fairly easily. Wrye bash has a new method for packing mods which is really fast (except for the first time) and easily modified. I just spent probably 3 days researching and setting up my oblivion install. Check my earlier post for a list of what i'm running now. Though even that is out of date now, lol. I got some new quests stuck in earlier.
  4. Werewolf: Legends of the North. No, it's not short, but it is challenging, and in a very good way. I also suggest you check out this tool: TOQL. It lists a ton of Oblivion quest mods broken out by size. Bear in mind that small minds aren't usually as difficult as longer ones, because it is presumed that if you're looking for something short, your character isn't as much of a veteran as some. So it's a tradeoff. Wow, TOQL may be the coolest thing i've ever seen. Thanks so much! edit: Werewolf:Legends of the North looks awesome, i can't wait. I wonder how this will work with the Wandering Encounters mod. Bwahaha Werewolves in bruma for sure if it works like i hope. I'll bee in touch
  5. I'll put my answers inside your post: Ok, I've decided to install FCOM. I was originally going to just use OOO, but I decided I might as well do as big an overhaul as I can. Do you think I made the right decision or do you think OOO is better by itself? Either way, I need help. I've got like fifty questions and "just google it!" doesn't work so well when asking specific questions. -Is FCOM compatible with all the Unofficial Oblivion Patches? I'm currently using every unofficial patch i could find. I installed them all before fcom and they load way up in the load order. -Does FCOM add anything to the Shivering Isles or Knights of the Nine content? Short answer: Yes, optionally. -What on earth is "Wyre Bash" and why does the Downloads section of this page say I need it? Wrye bash is the glue that makes all these mods work together, by merging their changes into a "bashed patch" which loads at the end of your list. Suffice it to say, if you want to mod, you need this program -Which versions of each of the four big mods do I need to download? And what version of FCOM should I use? The most recent versions of all of them that you wish to have installed. You don't need to install everything to play, you can pick and choose. The fcom install guide is setup to assist you no matter what options you choose. -Do I need Oblivion Mod Manager for any of this? You don't need it, but it comes in handy for two things: Reordering your mods in a quick and simple fashion, and Archive Invalidation( google it *grin*) Use the bsa redirection method once and forget about it. -Besides FCOM and the four mods it unites, are there any other mods I need for this that I don't know about? For an Fcom install, i recommend starting with a clean oblivion install, adding all the dlc's, shivering isles, and patches (official and unofficial). If you want to add graphics mods such as quarls, this is the time i chose to do so. Then start the fcom install. After you have a working installation, BACK IT UP! I can't stress that enough. Just copy the whole oblivion directory somewhere else, minus the huge bsa's if you want to take the time to set it up. That way you can always restore to that base in case you mess it up later with other mods. Just go slow and install them one or two at a time, and read the readmes. -Where can I find an index of things that these mods add to the game? I don't know of a central index for all mods. You just have to read the readmes, check the forums related to each mod, check their listings on tesnexus or whatever. It's a time consuming process but it's worth it in the end Well, that's all i've got. Just remember: Back it up. I've got two backups, one that's just the base oblivion install, and a second from the fresh fcom install. With patience you can make the game into whatever you like. I'm running about 112 mods, maybe 130-some if you count the merged mods. <---This gibberish will make sense to you when you get into Wrye Bash. MalkeX
  6. As a further sign of my illness, i've added: 50 Nekhanimal's Awesome Vampire Mod.esp And in reply to Chris 07, i understand that i should expect crashes, but i'm greedy. I've gotten the crashes down to very rare/only in certain cells (damn chapel of akatosh in kvatch. I had to use the console to get the main quest going). I was just hoping someone would flash on some mod that caused such specific crashes. Namely outdoors related. Myself I suspect the LoD is responsible, most probably imperial city. As to the second part of your response, I am mainly looking for small, but challenging quest mods to add in. possibly some sort of package deal, it's nice when I know what works together before hand.
  7. I'd like to know what, if anything, you think I'm missing from this list. Also, I'm experiencing rare crashes, almost always while outside and turning quickly(combat doesn't seem to matter).
