  1. as far as optimizer goes Ok I'll go with that. But if I have a folder of meshes I want to convert with say Nifscan for example how do I do that. I read the instructions it just says drop the .exe in the folder basicially and gives a few command prompts but I need a very noobish detailed explaination of how exactly to use some like Nifscan that has no GUI?. When I drop it in a mesh folder and try to open it it won't open when I click on nifscan.exe it just flickers but it doesn't actually stay open. If I open a command prompt inside that folder and just type nifscan it will say it scanned x number of files but it doesn't seem to actually convert anything, just scan them. Keep in mind I'm very new to all of this, just looking for some help to get started. And what do you mean by don't choose the entire folder? I probably need to know how to even open and work it before I get to that but just asking. And as far as you meant by just run the .exe with SSE Optimizer you mean just open the GUI and click ''optimize'' correct? with the 3 things checked already checked including subdiretories I image.
  2. When I download any modding tool and unpack I only get the executable, never the batch file. (I never get a .txt file either but I don't care about those, still it shows something is wrong) I see everyone using these tools in videos and even in written tutorials it talks abouit the .bat files so I know you're suppose to get them. For example with Nif Optimizer you're when you unpack it after manually downloading it you get the ,exe and a batch. I believe it's called something like check all subfolders.bat. Same thing with Nifscan/Nifmodify, you're suppose to get a .bat file. No matter what I use, winzip, 7zip, winrar etc. or how or where I unpack these tools I always just get the exe. I never get the batch files which I want and need. I've been told by some to just use command prompt but regardless it doesn't explain why I do not get these batch files. Can anyone think of any legitimate reason? And if nobody has an answer can somebody please send me these .batch files. Especially for nif optimizer and nifmodify I really need the .bat's for those in particular.
  3. Thank you. I couldn't get the command prompt to open in the folder up one but in that same folder when I typed nifscan into the prompt it said it was running and checked 933 files. If it converted anything I can't tell what. If anyone feels like taking some time to help me I'd like a mini tutorial of how this works. It would be greatly appreciated. My folder has these folders in it right now from a mod. lodsettings meshes music scripts seq sound textures nifscan.exe see nif optimizer.exe What exactly do I need to do to convert the textures/meshes. In the video I was watching it only took like 10 seconds for both but then he had batch files that did the work. I don't have those. Just command prompt. If any kind sole dose intend to help you can go to the 2:20 mark in this video and that's what I'm trying to do here just with a different mod. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWuutiKz3ws
  4. I have been watching videos on how to convert skyrim mods to SE. I have permission from a couple of people right now to convert their mods for my personal use only not to distribute. I'm new to the process of converting these mods but I have found videos that go through the process and I've converted a couple of very small mods already. I want to try bigger more complicated mods, The problem is I can't seem to get the files required. For example Nif Optimizer, In these videos it shows them actually unpack the tool(s) after downloading and it gives them 2 files. One is the actual aplication, the SEE Nif Optimizer.exe file. But they also get another file which is SEE texture converter.bat. But again I'm not getting this batch file. Same goes for NIFscan. I get the .exe but I do not get the batch file, which, at least from what is show in these videos is what I actually click on to convert these textures/meshes not the .exe. Can someone explain why when I download and unpack these tools I do not get the .bat files that goes with the .exe? EDIT: and just to be clear I am downloading these tools straight form Nexus.
  5. Nevermind. Not that there was a flood of responses anyway but I found an alternative skeleton in the files, not sure how it got there, but I removed it so I guess it reverted back to the vanilla in the bsa so all is well and belt fastened quivers is working again.
  6. I could use some help figuring out what could be keeping belt fastened quivers from working. From my understanding the only thing that can conflict with it would be something that altars the skeleton.ini file. I don't have anything like that installed to my knowledge. Another weird thing is that I kept BFQ active but deactivated my remaining plugins about 20 at a time (until I got about 20 from the top and I idid not disable those) and it still never worked after I had eventually deactivated all of them other than BFQ and the unofficial patch, falskaar and a few other, basically the top 20 of so of my load order none of which appear to have anything to do with altering skeleton.ini at by that point I was tired of disabling mods that looked to have nothing to do with my issue. Here is my LOOT load order. Anyone that could figure this out I'd really appreciate it. For whatever reason I have total character makeover installed but I can't tell that it shows up in my plugins, I don't think it does, but I deleted it while testing anyway and that never made a difference. Also it's always worked with Imperious- races before so that can't be it. 7. I have 136 active plugins. I'm level 10 with zero crashes other than I installed one mod that did not play well and the game crashed immediately after I installed it so through trial and error I figgured out which of the ten mods I had just activated cause it, and got rid of it. Everything is fine now. I have a lot more inactive. I will have well over 200 by the time I just activate the ones I already have. I take it slow though. I'll activate about 10-15 mods at a time. Then I"ll play for a couple of days and see if any of those mods caused issues. If I do have issues I"ll resolve those before moving on.
  8. I would start with textures 2017. Then install SMIM and every instance it asks which file you want choose SMIM. That will give you the best of both mods with 2017 textures covering anything SMIM doesn't. From there I would look for individual texture mods that only focus on one or one catagory of things. Those mods generally are the best textures for those individual textures you're going to get. I just counted, I have 36 texture mods active. My texture mods cover everything from locks to chest to some individual creatures and animals to rugs/pelts, gems, ,mountains and so on and so on. I don't seem to have taken a hit at all in performance. I also have an asus with the 1070 but I have the ROG G20, I'm not sure how the rest of my specs compare to yours off hand,
  9. My character is Syn'dar. A Khajiit. His story begins as a young khajiit in Elsweyr. His father was a merchant who had been killed by imperials after a dispute over the pricing of some goods. Thus he has a deep seated hatred for the Imperial legion. Later in life he would decide to back the Stormcloaks. Not because he's sure Tamriel would be better off with Ulfric on the throne but because he views that as the lesser of two evils. With only his mother left and no siblings there comes a day that would become of great importance in shaping his life. He and his mother are doing some chores when a feeling comes over him he cannot explain. He feels there is an incoming danger that will soon manifest itself. In what form he does not know. Soon after three bandits bust through the tent. Their actions suggest his mother is in danger of being raped and murdered and that they will steal everything they own. The young Khajiit seems to go into some kind of trance. Starting off into the distance with extreme focus, a pack of wild wolves soon surround the bandits. They attack. The bandits are mauled, ripped apart, they never stood a chance. He goes over those events in his head for some time and he can't help but feel he somehow ''willed'' the wolves appearance. He's not sure if his thoughts brought the wolves into existence, or if he simply took control of those wolves with his mind. He only feels certain that his thoughts, his concentration, brought about the event. A few years later, now as an adult Khajiit. He seems to have lost his moral compass. He steals to put food on the table. He will do whatever he feels is necessary in order to protect and provide for his mother without much regard for the possible coincidences or morality. It's around this time another event takes place that will go along way in shaping his future. One night while in a deep sleep after a long day of thievery and evading detection, In a dream, an image he recognizes a the cat night mistress appears before him. Know to other races as Nocturnal, she speaks to him. The reason isn't obvious to him at this time, but the message is clear. Nocturnal tells him " You are the chosen one. Your blood is that of the Gods. You will decide the fate of Tamriel. You will face great trials and tribulations on your journey. You will need immense power in order to overcome these obstacles. Seek power in any form without regard. And lastly, find your brothers and sisters in a city in Skyrim that will feel like home to you." The very next day the Khajiit is out on another excursion. A storm the likes of which he has never seen or heard of sweeps over. He is far from home. He can only take shelter and wait for the storm to pass. Upon returning to his village he discovers the village has all but been wiped away. His mother, badly injured, hangs on for days, but eventually she dies in his arms. He hangs around what is left of the village and tries to help others salvage what is left. There is a great anger that is building up inside of Syn'dar. He feels he has no purpose. No direction. He remembers the words spoken to him in his dream. He decides to head out to Skyrim hoping everything will become more clear as he starts his journey. He is caught crossing the border into Skyrim and finds himself surrounded by imperials. He is soon bound and in a wagon heading for an unknown location. The imperials stop the wagon in the town of Helgen and it soon becomes clear he is not being brought there for imprisonment, especially considering the significance of one of the men in particular that was captured with him. None other than Ulfric Stormcloak. The captured men are being beheaded one by one, when it's the Khajiit's turn a feeling starts to well up inside him. He cannot place it. He only knows it's the same feeling he had just moments before a pack of wolves attacked the bandits that were threatening his mother. Once again he has a strong feeling that something is about to happen. And if history is any indication he's sure hoping it's something that will get him out of this situation. .. just as he approaches the chopping block.. well, you know the rest. Always remembering the words that came to him in that dream he seeks power "in any form without regard'', when given a choice one day he decides to become a vampire. He cannot think of anything more powerful than bending the will of others. A strange thing happens though. At this point it's know to him he is dragonborn and it seems as though his dragon blood when combined with vampirism gives him different abilities than an average vampire. He can walk in the daylight. People do not fear him and he is not attacked on site. (obviously achieving this with better vampires mod). He does go on to seek out his ''brothers and sisters''. He finds them in a town called Riften. And as you know, he does decide the fate of Tamriel. But that's a different story.
  10. If this question is even OK to ask here. I don't see why not but if not sorry. Anyway I've done some searching and all I've come up with is Loverslab but I'm not into that particular category of mods. So just curious if there are any particular sites or even just particular mods that are worth a download on other sites. by the way I mean Skyrim SE mods in particular.
  11. Cutting room floor mod brings back a lot of things cut out in the final product.
  12. I agree with everything you wrote, just a note on the quoted sentences: What you describe is ONE possible approach. Another one (and the one I prefer) is: 1. Create a merged patch with TESVEdit first. If you already got a bashed patch at this point, DON'T include it in the merged patch (simply uncheck the merged patch in the plugin list in TES5Edit). 2. In the merged patch you just created, search for the category containing leveled lists. I think it's called ILevel or something like that. Delete this whole category. Now save your merged patch. 3. Now create (or rebuild, if you already got one) your bashed patch in Wrye Bash, including everything (also the TES 5 Edit merged patch). This will retain all the benefits and conflict solutions of the merged patch, but leave the management of combined leveled lists to Wrye Bash alone. IMHO, TES5Edit shines at "solving" mod conflicts in general, whereas Wrye Bash is stronger, when it comes to leveled lists. I got a lot of mods that add items (like nice fancy armours and weapons) to the loot tables, and this method always worked very well for me. OFC you do all this patch building AFTER you sorted out your load order. That's interesting because I believe what you're describing is as far as deleting anything associated with ''leveled'' in the merge patch and then creating a separate leveled bash patch is the way I was instructed to do it from the first person that gave me advice on any of this. And then I have seen that exact thing in instructional videos. Keep in mind I have zero practical experience with any of this it's all from discussions and videos.\ EDIT: Does anyone have any opinions on using SEEdit over TES5? I already have SEEdit installed and have used it to clean some masters so I am already a least a little bit familiar with that one, however it it would be beneficial for me in the long run to switch to TES5 I guess I would. Gotcha. Thanks.
