  1. Whoa there. I did this only because it was in a big thread on these exact forums. Perhaps it would be wise to close it, or have that stickied instead? Also, you assume a lot and sound very aggressive for some reason. What makes you think I uninstalled mods randomly? I first uninstalled mods exactly in the order I've installed them, as it says in my OP. Then I started to dig deeper into the logs. There's nothing wrong with doing that, it does help figure out what the scripts do, it's just not a reliable method, that's all.
  2. I was interested in verifying that I was using proper procedure, so clicked on your link. I got an error: Is there perhaps something wrong with the link? [Added] OK, I went in through the Wiki and brought up Skyrim and the link is right on the first page: How to install Skyrim Mods I don't understand why I got the error message unless it was because I wasn't logged in when I tried to click it. Your link and my link look exactly the same ... And, now that I'm logged in, I can click on the link and go right there. Perhaps that was the problem, login to the Wiki first? Hey there, Yeah same here, link is dead.
  3. Hey Oubliette, (j'aime ton nom en passant!), Very good guide, thanks. What I am working on at the moment is I am actually backing up my entire Skyrim folder (and its MyDocuments counterpart) and keeping a detailed log of what I do, what mods I install and in which order.
  4. Hi all, let me elaborate: I'm sure I'm not the only one that goes through this once in a while: start browsing the nexus for new stuff, download a few mods, break the game, can't revert, argh!! /wrist This happened to me last night: I was pretty happy with my new setup and I was going to install a few more mods but I totally screwed things up, tried to remove all the new mods, CTD ... Tried different save games, same thing. It's almost as if each new mod leaves a trace somewhere. Just before someone mentions this, yes, I have tried the whole checking the logs trick. It would tell me what script would make the VM to freeze, I'd uninstall it, and the CTDs would just not stop, changing the scripts around to some I could tell what they were, and some I could not. Did this for 2 hours :( Also: I do use BOSSI do not use quicksave / quickload The way I mod Skyrim is probably not safe, all I do is I load a few new mods using the Nexus Mod Manager, I always re-write all files and folders, etc... What I need I just uninstalled Skyrim this afternoon and re-installed it, and I am very hesitant on which step to take from here. There must be a guide somewhere that instructs you these things: How to perform a 100% clean Skyrim re-installHow to install an ENB cleanlyHow to manually install mods, or how to install mods using the NMM safelyHow to effectively test if a new mod is fully compatibleHow to properly backup before installing a new mod, in order to be able to back up. Cheers guys!
  5. Can you recommend a good ENB that is compatible with CoT then? I tried QuietCool and I didn't like it.
  6. Let me know if you guys need more information :)
  7. Hi all, I have these horrible pop-ins happening lately, I'm not sure which mod is causing this. I even turned off my ENB. Here are some screenshots of the before and after to give you an idea: http://i.imgur.com/LtSKMRm.jpg after a few steps forward: http://i.imgur.com/FKvuBDL.jpg Running a very high end PC here, 16gb RAM. The only thing is I am running a GTX670 with only 2gb VRAM, but it shouldn't affect (plus I've played before and never seen this stuff). I was thinking it could be those hardcore 2k and 4k textures, disabled them, same issue. Mod list from BOSS: These plugins are recognised by BOSS and have been sorted according to its masterlist. 8. Real clouds? Heh. There's your problem, most likely anyway. I had tons of weird lighting issues with it. Looks gorgeous when it works, but it's way too buggy. Also, you typically only want 1 lighting mod. If you run CoT, don't run other lighting mods unless they're actually compatible with CoT (and then again, even when the author says so, it can still break something).
