  1. Oh lord, a few elder dragons, wraiths and drauger death overlords and you'd certainly he running around like a madman. lol
  2. I must admit with this character I defeated the Stormcloaks and there was no mention of becoming Talos or anything (but then as an imperial perhaps there wouldn't be.) And admittedly in content Sovangarde was underwhelming in that it's not the fast fields of hunting and fighting or whatever impressive nordic stuff it was. But it was rather pretty. And, like I said, the heroes were pretty cool. But Jovaskaar is more vibrant, you're right. I think it's great that you get so into the character of your characters as you play :) I've been doing that more and more with this character after her wife died and I got rather emotionally attached to what she must be going through. That and her going gradually more morally dubious what with her increasing fascination with the Daedra. Plus, since she joined the Imperials because of the Stormcloak's racism, on the one hand she'd be wary of the things attached to Nordic nationalism, but on the other hand she feels like she is a full resident of Skyrim so Sovangarde in particular would hold some weight and impression with her. Hrm.
  3. So today I defeated Alduin, and naturally part of that is the rather awesome event of going to Sovngarde. While the place was rather disappointingly small (understandable, really) I absolutely fell in love with the sky, and as soon as I entered the hall and was greeted by Ysgramor and Jergen Windcaller I fangirled like a dork. Admittedly ysgramor was no big thing for this particular character. I was attached to him from an old character who was a companion but it was still pretty awesome to see him in the flesh, and devoid of that rather silly armour that his statue has on the loading screens. Did anyone else get a kick out of seeing the legends in the flesh? Also, it got me to thinking about the afterlife for our characters and the vast landscape of these other realms. Do we know much else about them? (For example I adored the 'On Oblivion' book in game and the rich description of the realms of the Daedra.) Since my character has been chasing up every Daedra quest, her afterlife is uncertain. But I expect that as a nightingale and leader of the thieves guild (and because she prays to her whenever she gets 'home' in the guild) she will end up in Noctournal's realm. For a while at least. Where do you think your character will end up when they die?
  4. Judging from Kingpix's last comment here, he's going to be simplifying the install procedure and issuing a patch, soon. However, if you want the mod right now, you can follow the trail from his first post. It is something of a labyrinth to get to. Don't use it myself, but some people swear by it. Thanks for the info :) I think I'd be inclined to wait a little bit for that, then.
  5. I don't use shields at all (which is in part why I use restoration. i've never been able to block well. lol) I'd be inclined to disagree on some points, but I do see where you're coming from with focusing perks more narrowly. I think on my next character i'll bear that very much in mind. Currently the ones I use are Sneak (now 100), Archery (high level perks), lockpicking, One handed (medium level perks), Light armour,(medium level perks) Restoration (low level perks though) and Conjuration (also low level perks) and Destruction (low level perks). While I very much focus on sneaking and stealth-archery, I found that with the way I fight I needed the other perks. Before I got my sanguine rose and was in lower levels I relied heavily on summon flame atronach to provide the extra firepower that i lacked from not having a follower (because the stupid AI ruined every attempt I made to have a follower while using sneak attacks). It covered me with long-range magic and provided a useful distraction for big enemies, which was esecially handy with dragons or groups. But with that I kept the perks low even if the level grew higher. The same was for destruction, which was handy for dealing with elementally weak monsters before I could afford to buy numerous enchanted bows. Once i got the dual casting perk I stopped buying them though. Now as for Restoration, I wouldn't say it's useless. Chugging potions is all very well, but they deplete quickly, as does food, which buggers you over when you're in a long dungeon or the like. Restoration allows quick and easy healing for 'free', as well as the ability to heal party members, which I always find useful. I use it all the time when I'm meleeing. the problem with having a theif/light armour character is that you need good melee perks in order to survive since you need to do as much damage as you can as fast as possible, and you need the most defense it's possible to get since the hits hit so much harder on rather delicate thieves when you are forced to scrap with your enemies. hence the perks. but it is expensive, and probably down to the inexperience of the style I play and fight i suppose. Now I'm higher level and I'm more confident in my ability at archery and sneaking, i hardly ever need the other skills as much. But I needed them to get to this point. Aaaanyway. I'm babbling. In short, I finally got around to redoing Skuldafen - at night time as recommended - and relying completely on my stealth and archery and a buttload of arrows. And it was glorious. Admittedly it took about 3 in-game days to do, since I kept waiting for nighttime. But it was easy once, like you say, you rely on your own confidence as a sneak-attacker and you rely on your terrain and have patience. It was incredibly satisfying. And Aldiun was easy-peasy once you realise that instead of trying to shoot him full of arrows and getting set on fire in the process, it's better to just force him to land and stab him in the arse with your dragonbane until he dies.
  6. I've tried installing the morrwind total overhaul but all I get directed to with the downloads is to download iLividPlayer. I've tried several of his links (part 1, part 2 etc) and it's the same regardless. Sorry to be a total n00b here, but is there something obvious I'm missing? They're the only download options I get directed to. I know it's probably spam, but the main link says that it's been removed.
  7. Nice :) My very first character was a tank and she'd have done fine in it - two handed and heavy armour. Alas, she got accidentally deleted a while back so never got the chance :wallbash:
  8. You hit the nail right on the head. Fantastic reasons. I've not reached that point yet, but I could never kill him.
  9. But balls are so weak and vulnerable. Anyway, thanks to you all guys for your help. Much appreciated ;) (I've got a bit of my ego back after slaughtering the dark brotherhood and finally getting my 100% sneak bonus, so I think I'll be returning to it soon)
  10. Hi Brett, and thanks so much for the advice. I've got the eagle eye perk and pretty much rely on it. Good tip about the darkness, I think I shall have to reload, stock up and do that. Especially since my main problem was that a dragon swept in straight away. lol And (somehow) I completely missed Elrindir. I've been getting the arrows from the Solitude Fletcher's mainly, and they only ever seem to stock dwarven and elvish arrows and all of one ebony arrow every time I go in. I have two main bows: an ebony bow charmed with soul capture and the nightingale bow that (when fully charged) will do 20 points frost damage. My enchanting isn't high enough for that perk, I think. Or I've spent my perks elsewhere. But a shock damage bow would probably do well, I think I'll take your advice and try to craft one. Because of not being able to get better arrows I've been relying on dwarven ones and elvish ones, but I do have the 3 x damage bonus on sneak shots since my sneak is at 98.
  11. So I was getting a little bored and decided that I would try to finish the main quest and go to Skuldafn - and holy hell I was not ready! I ended up using up all my potions, and essentially ended up running around everywhere screaming like a sissy and trying to avoid getting killed and get to the end, only to be foiled by a clusterf**k large group of draugrs while I was trying to work out the first puzzle. Not exactly the most dignified way to go. I faced 2 dragons from the offset outside, each of which refused to go near me unless they had a whole posse of Drauger deathlords and wights and whatnot. The leap up in difficulty was huge as soon as I touched down in Skuldafn and within moments I had exhausted my supply of potions and soulgems to charge my weapons up with. Methinks I shall have to reload and try again later when I'm better prepared if I can, but I shall have to face it all eventually. Does anyone who had completed the main quest have any tips? I am playing on a PS3 and am a level 42 Khajiit in nightinggale armour who's primary skills are sneak and archery. However in fighting normal combat I use one-handed and restoration magic for the other. My conjuration spells never seem to last long. Sneaking did prove effective...until the damn dragons turn up. Which alerted everyone to me. Fighting the dragons was next to impossible when the Draugrs teamed up and started summoning storm atronachs. but that's enough of my moaning. Does anyone have any tips? They'd be much appreciated. Ta ;)
  12. I might also point out that the nightinggales are really little to do with the Thieve's Guild in itself but for the fact that it's members happen to often belong to both. They're a completely different faction. As a Nightinggale, you return the key in order to please Nocturnal and to bring honour back and get back in her favour.. But, as a motivation for the thieves' guild, it's all about bringing luck back so that the thieves' guild itself can prosper from the benefit of additional good luck, so it's really a completely selfish motivation and not a global 'save the world' kind of deal. Plus you also have your own personal individual motivations of revenge and loyalty to Karliah. So really i view it as a mush of completely separate, selfish goals really. You're not doing anybody any favours but yourself in the end. The closet to being 'like the salvation army' is you looking out for the guild members that you have recently been appointed the leader of.
  13. Thank you very much too Karasuman :) I've played bits and bats on basic- Morrowind when I was back at uni before Skyrim (having decided to skip Oblivion all together and because, like I said, I wasn't sure if I liked rpgs and Morrowind was cheap *cough*) and even then, being confused as heck and only hopping on occasionally, I found it rather addictive once I was plonked into the world. Mainly because I fell in love with stilt-striders lol From my short playtime, ruddy cliffracers constantly attacking was something even i noticed, so that animal behaviours mod should be really handy. I assume that the overhaul also applies to bloodmoon and tribunal? I have all three discs installed as they came together when I bought it.
  14. Thanks :) As for my graphics card I've been rummaging around but, since it doesn't just blatantly tell me which is the graphics card, I'm stumped. I think the graphics card is a 'NVIDA GeForce 9600MGT' with 1775MB graphics memory and 512 MB dedicated video memory if that's any help at all
